Welcome to Eve Online, hope you enjoy your visit. Because Eve does have a level of depth that other MMORPG games do not have, the learning curve can be a little daunting (some would even say Eve has a learning wall not a curve).

This thread is where I hope to keep a list of links to helpfull guides and sites, so that people new to the game have somewhere to go when they are stumped or can't find help in game. But of course feel free to drop your question in the evil_avatar chat room, people are more than willing to field your questions there.

If you have any links not already listed please reply and I'll edit the top post to include them. Links in italics are viewable in game via the Eve browser.

Starting Out

Player Guide (http://www.eve-online.com/guide/en/g01.asp) - The official new players guide. Give it a quick look through and make sure you complete all of the initial tutorial. The agent that you will get sent to in the tutorial has 10 missions that you should complete, the rewards will help you get off the ground and running.
Combat Character Guide (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Eve-Online-Advanced-Starter-Guide-39027.shtml) - A guide for how to create a combat oriented character and the quickest skill path to follow for getting ready for PvP combat .
Combat Skills Roadmap (http://www.kylania.com/eve/skills.php?p=combat) - A list of the essential skills to train in order to be a combat pilot. Viewable in game.
EVEMon (http://evemon.battleclinic.com/) - EVEMon is a Windows application designed to assist you in keeping track of your EVE Online character skill progression. You can view your current skills and attributes, what you're currently training, and your ISK balance. Able to track multiple characters across multiple accounts, so all your alts can be monitored. You can also plan your future character progression, by setting up a skill training plan. A must have for anyone planning to play the game for more than a couple months.

Salvage Guide (http://www.battleclinic.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.0;all) - Are you doing kill missions for your agent? You should be salvaging the wrecks then for a huge boost in your income.

Mining, Science and Industry

Ships and Loadouts

Passive Tanking (http://www.eve-tribune.com/index.php?no=2_19&page=7) - Tanking is the act of building your ship to withstand damage. A guide on how to build a passive shield tank (where you don't have to activate modules to keep your shields up).
Eve Fitting Tool (http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=548883) - Want to find out what will fit on a ship loadout before making the purchase of expensive modules? Use the EFT 3rd party program to test fit a potential ship loadout. It is also able to import your character skills.

Take a look at this beginners guide located in the Eve Online forums. Even if you don't want to be a trader you should read the section on buy orders to learn how to buy your expendables at huge savings (like ammo and frigate modules).

Eve Radio (http://eve.gamingradio.net/) - A internet radio station dedicated to Eve Online game players. Type of music played depends on the DJ, and the DJ changes every 1-4 hours.
Eden Underground Radio (http://www.edenunderground.com/) - Not as Eve specific as Eve Radio, but they do sometimes play Eve related podcasts. Bigger ratio of rock music than Eve Radio.
