$189.99 reg price
$109.99 sale price ( with bonus $25 TRU Gift Card)
Thus: $85.00
Prices effective through Dec. 20th. In-store only.
This was in the Bay Area weekly sunday paper TRU advertisement, and I was certain it was a misprint.

Pretty ridiculous steal. I had been wanting to upgrade my launch-day RB1 equipment, but $90 for the drums and $80 for the guitar was a little much. Now I've got the whole shebang, with a bonus copy of RB2 to give to my nephew along with all my RB1 gear.
(I counted it as $85 instead of $109 'cuz I'm pretty certain we can count the $25 gift card since most of us could use that during the holiday season.)

Just so we're sure, this is the Full Monty, with RB2 game, microphone, wireless guitar, and wireless drum set.
I just swung by Best Buy and picked up a Madcatz 2-cymbal attachment. Yum.

Yeah, just go buy the one at TRU, then take that unopened one back to your original store with the receipt.

I'm bummed I'd didn't check CAG/here over the past few days. Now my local TRU is sold out and probably won't get more in until the sale is over.

Best Buy does price matching from advertisements...at least mine does. If you can grab a copy of yesterday's Sunday paper you might be able to march into BB and see if they'll match it. They might balk at the additional $25 gift card, but it's still a helluva deal at $110.

My Best Buy didn't. I had to go to Wal-Mart. And I'll tell you why my Best Buy didn't: they're retarded. They claim their price-matching policy is that they can only price-match something if the store they're matching it from has it in stock. What the FUCK? How does that make sense at all?

Hmm. Well, on one level it does make sense, because they want to beat their competitor, but if it's at a price that their competitor can't even offer (because it's out of stock), then there's no impetus for them to match it. It still sucks.

It makes perfect sense from a managerial point of view. Your local Best Buy isn't competing for customers with Toys R Us nationwide. They are competing for customers against local competition. They want you to come to their store instead of other local stores. If the local store can't offer the product, they don't care about doing it themselves. It's not lost business for that item. Just because Toys R Us Corporation has the deal doesn't effect that the real competition for your BB doesn't.
From a customer stand point it sucks, but it makes sense from money making stand point.

So if one company advertised it for 10$ and had none in stock, you'd expect Best-Buy to price match it even though you couldn't actually go there and get it for 10$?

No, but if they had it in stock, why the hell would I go to Best Buy? I wouldn't.

I agree with Disgustipated on this one. You could always get a raincheck at the store advertising the price so I don't see why stock matters. If they want your business (and they should in this economic environment) they should be at least willing to match prices of local competition regardless if the item is in stock.

The TRU deal said 'no rain checks,' otherwise I'd agree with you. Besides, if you've come into a store during the Holiday season, then you might as well get some shopping done for the kids/nephews/nieces etc. If the trick is to get you into the store, they've done it, and don't have to sell you the item at a discount.
I'm playing Devil's Advocate, here, by the way. I understand it sucks for the consumer, particularly the dickheaded way the TRU manager treated Dis and his grandma. I'd be pissed, too.

I didn't notice the "no rain checks" part of that deal. I was speaking in general terms, where usually you can get a rain check on an advertised price.
My problem is with Best Buy's policy - I agree with you, it sucks for the consumer. The only time I go to Best Buy for a price match is if their website has a better price than the store. Otherwise, I'll go to Walmart for a price match. They carry the same games (mostly) and other items and will match the prices with no questions asked. However, I must say that most of the time, I do my comparison shopping online and buy from wherever has the better price there.

Snagged mine this weekend thanks to this thread. Same story as everyone else for the most part, TRU was out, Circuit City denied the price match, Wal-Mart did it no questions ask.
