Unless someone figured out a means to reanimate the dead, this confuses me.

Because if you were a true Queen fan, you'd already own every song and prefer records in any case? Besides, the real Queen died with Mercury.

Queen + Paul Rodgers.....singer for Bad Company.

Much like Journey is not really Journey without Steve Perry, Queen is not Queen without Freddie Mercury. You can put other analogies into this equation as well.

The only fallacy with my argument is that Steve Perry is still alive and could rejoin Journey whereas the great Freddie Mercury is gone.

Wow. Bad Company + Queen?

They will rock me.

I know it won't be the same but I'll still give it a chance. Not all front-man changes have been totally bad. Judas Priest for one. Then you have the Rage ATM -> Audioslave change. Granted Audioslave was a different band but it still sounded like Rage with a different singer.

I for one am a huge fanboy of Brian May. I realize nobody can take Freddie's place, but read what Brian had to say about the project on the Amazon link Sandman provided. Freddie was a fan of Paul Rodgers too.

This was more my point.

I just wish they would call it something other than Queen. Queen without Freddie isn't Queen.

Queen + Paul Rodgers is the name you'll see everywhere.

Queen without the queen is like Black Sabbath without Ozzy.

No. No. Audioslave didn't sound like Rage AT ALL. Audioslave was generic and sort of crappy. Rage was anything but generic.

I am torn on this. Queen has been my favorite band for as long as I have been able to have an opinion on music, but I wasn't too fond of any of the stuff that came from the Queen + Paul Rogers tour they did a few years back. I'll still check it out, but I hope May does most of the singing, although I know that won't be the case 8-P.

Something that irritates me, though is that there is a band called Ours. They are a pretty good band, but to me it almost seems as if their lead singer was born to sing with Queen. I've felt that way for a long long time, and I would love to see it happen.

This may be so, but Journey's new singer isn't half bad.

I agree so much it hurts.
Freddie Mercury was Queen.

If Queen had existed in ancient Egypt, the rest of the band would have been entombed with him so he could be ready to rock when he reached the afterlife. ;)

Mika would be great to front Queen, too.

No. Brian May is as much to Queen as Jimmy Page was to Zeppelin.

That said I understand how people can't think of it as Queen without him.

I actually like the Rio era of Sabbath....he's not that bad if you can listen without thinking about Ozzy.

Rio or Dio?

LOL. The Rio phase is when Simon LeBon from Duran Duran took over, I guess.

I'm imagining a mashup of "Hungry Like The Wolf" and "Iron Man".

To be honest, that sounds amazing.

Sorry, I didn't intend to imply that other band members aren't talented. Brian May is certainly deserving of more attention than he already gets.

Just that Freddie was one of those larger than life figureheads for a band, and in the public eye at the very least, cannot truly be replaced.
