I really would love to see someone recreate Fallout 1 or 2 with this. At the very least I'd like to see New Reno in full 3d splendor.

Let the games begin.

I'm kinda clueless about how this sort of stuff works, but I think i'll download it and play around. There's some great video tutorials to get you started.

Good news! I look forward to playing this game again in about 6 months with a whole bunch of cool mods and expansions. The game that keeps on giving.

If it's anything like the Oblivion editor, it should be pretty simple to use. If all you want to do is create new areas and stock them with generic enemies and props, or add very basic quests (IE kill X molerats and go get this) it will be pretty newbie-friendly.

This is most excellent news.

This pretty much means I have to finish playing now! I wanted to make it through at least one play through before touching mods...

If there is a fanbase insane enough to do it, Fallout fans will. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Half the fun of Bethesda games are the mods. I can't wait to see what people come up with.

Hmpff...I'm surprised it's only 8.3 mb...I guess we already have all the assets...now, just need to find time to play with this. I remember getting engrossed with Neverwinter Nights toolset and biting off more than I can chew (converting a D&D module)...maybe I'll try and update that story for the Fallout 3 world. Could spell the end of my free time though ;)

On another note, just imagine if someone figures out a way to get moving cars into this game...Mad Max would be great in this world :)

Who's gonna be the genius to make a mod including everyone at CoG as a character?

Before I realized I pretty much have no free time until January, I was going to make a giant CoG 'C' (a la the new post indicator in the forums) grace the landscape outside of Vault101. I still think it is an awesome idea, and someone should do it.

This is one mod I would love to see, or even something Bethesda could do as DLC, tied to some sort of Quest to get parts and put it all together.

I think a car would be doable.. hard part would be giving it car physics. It would be easier to give the player a high-speed hoverpack. the CAW is not a car friendly area.

Yeah. The Capital Wasteland is a big place, and it would be nice if I didn't have to run everywhere. Hell, there were horses in Oblivion, and the game world in Fallout is the same size as the one in Oblivion. I, for one, would absolutely HATE having to run around Cyrodiil on foot.

You know you can fast travel to any location you've already discovered in fallout, right? Also the Fallout map is actually quite a bit smaller than the Oblivion map.

Hey, that's just what I read....somewhere. Also, I know about fast-traveling. However, you can't fast-travel to areas you haven't discovered yet, and getting to some of those locations on foot is a bitch.

A motorcycle or ATV would work better in the Capitol Wastes.

oooo i shall have to build something over Christmas. I've had a plan since morrowind to build a small town and add a main quest and so on but then let other people add quests to the npcs and buildings and such so that every npc had a quest to give you.... to a point at lest since having npcs figure in so many quests will lead to bugs and clashes and such but still i think i'll build a town just for the hell of it.

I've always had a thing for building towns in these games down the side of cliffs or in very steep valleys.... not really sure why... but it's cool

I wouldn't mind being able to set off another nuke. Vaporizing Megaton was pure, nuclear-powered bliss, but it's a pity I can only do it once. I wonder if anyone can figure out how to do it again.

Super. I stopped playing as soon as I hit level 20. Now that it can be fixed properly - I'll be able to start playing again.

Shouldn't take very long for some one to figure out how to do it... i mean megaton is an "inside" cell so in the outside cell you just remove the entrance with the same script that changes the area it's self. The light show may be a little more tricky but some one will work that out too... i love these mod tools, some one some where will always figure out the way to do cool things

Heh. I just recognized who that is in your (Chit Phil Cit) profile picture. That's funny. In my opinion, if Valve ever decides to give Dr. Freeman a personality, it should be modeled after House's.

Screw recreating the Fallouts. I wanna recreate where it all started... Wasteland! I did an area from Wasteland in the Fallout Tactics editor but never got much past that. Been thinking about doing Wasteland Redux in some format for like 15 years. Maybe the time has finally come.

I have never played any of the earlier Fallout games, unfortunately. It would be nice if someone could start from the beginning, so that younger gamers like myself could at least find out what all the hype is about.

Wasteland is ancient. C64 days. Good stuff though. It set the premise of a post apocalyptic environment with a sense of humor that was a non-linear CRPG. Classic NPCs and locations. Plus the paragraph book was good reading!

This. Although I honestly see the mods as being perhaps more crucial to the game than even that. The first time I played Morrowind (jumping back a bit) it really got boring fairly fast. Not just for content, but the way everything was implemented.

After attaching a dozen or so mods (and doing testing to ensure they all played nice together) It easily made the game 10x more fun, imo. Especially mods that altered the game mechanics, like allowing multiple mark spots instead of just one, new vendors and services, even new skills. I used one mod that upped the level cap and added new uber-powerful types of entirely new enemies so the later parts of the game were just as danger-ridden as the early parts.

Edit: I agree that people should try Wasteland. It isn't pretty to look at, but if you can get past it's very aged interface, there's a damn good game in there.

That is waaaay before my time. The last time I remember even seeing a Commodore, much less using one, was when I was in first grade, about twelve years ago. It was ancient even then, but you can't get much more old-school than that.

Agreed, and there are already some motorcycle models in the game. :D

Yes, I want a motorcycle!

As although the Wasteland is smaller than Oblivion, it is much more spread out. In Obvlion a large chunk of the map was taken up by the lake, and the compass did a better job of luring me over to shit.

Now, someone needs to make the Dogmeat armor.

Sad to say I really don't think a remake will work well on the Fallout 3 engine. Fallout 1 and 2 are just so different compared to Fallout 3. Id rather have people focus more on making Fallout 3 a bit more true to the original series.

For example, allow encounters to happen when using fast travel and maybe re-add Outdoorsman (although add more functionality to it).
