So I was browing major nelson's website today and noticed this little gem got released yesterday:

War World Info (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/w/warworldxboxlivearcade/)

Can anyone who's downloaded and played this XBL Arcade game give a quick mini-review for it? At 800 Points, I'm very tempted to buy it, I just want to know how well the game plays.

Adding in Wiki Info (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_World_(game))

I downloaded the demo, but you only get to play about a minute and a half. Which is absurdly stupid.

The scenery is really pretty, at least in the demo level, but it is also really busy. With such fast paced action, a lot of the time the background is just too distracting. I want to love this game, since I do love mechs, but I don't know. I'm still waiting to see who else gets this before I buy it; the trial doesn't really let you see much at all.

Wasn't this originally a PC game?

Yeah, it was, a PC Game that came out in 2005. For me, the tempting part is the BattleTech feel that the game seems to have. Upgrading weapons, jump jets, and shields appeals to the Pen and Pencil geek in me.

I'll definitely download this (demo) tonite. Hopefully it has that addicting Castle Crashers feel to it.

This game looks pretty sweet and I totally forgot about it. Someone pony up the ten bucks and lay down some impressions! ;)

It's going to take someone actually buying the game to tell us anything about it, as the demo only allows you to play 45 seconds of death match. It seems like it could be fun, but who knows?

The trial providing nothing that felt like BattleTech, sadly.

Maybe 60 seconds into a match, everyone runs for cover and starts getting all tactical.

based on my minute of impressions with the game... it felt like a slower paced, faster turning less anime inspired version of Armored Core.

The reviews are not being kind, 46% average on metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/warworld).

So basically it was a poorly made Chrome Hounds?

Ha! War World (based on the 45 second demo) is NOTHING like Chrome Hounds. Chrome Hounds had tons of parts and customization. War World seems (based on the 45 second demo) like it is Unreal Tournament mixed with Go Bots.

The Go Bots adds that thick layer of lame on everything in the game.
