This week's episode: - "One of Us, One of Them"

They're teasing hard that Noah (aka Horn Rimmed Glasses, although I think we can dispense with that name at this point) is forced into a partnership with Sylar, but I smell a swerve.

I'll be honest, I didn't like last week's season premiere. Too many of the bad elements of the show - namely that too many characters act like complete morons all the freaking time - and not enough of the good elements. I'm also a little sick of the 'shocking twists' that the writers mistake for good storytelling, a flaw that their comic book brethren also share.

I loved this episode more than any I've seen so far.

Loved the episode. But seriously, how strong are they going to make Peter? I mean come on if he doesnt body snatch you hell just strike you down with a thunderbolt or send your left leg into a coalmine in PA in the mid 1860's.

OK, after watching the premiere, I was almost at the point of giving up on the show. This episode went a long way to convincing me to keep the show on my DVR.

It's weird seeing Sylar being a "good" guy, and he's starting to understand his ability more. I could see them doing something to halt his hunger at some point, making him more of a good guy. Sucks to see the whole Level 5 thing end so soon, unless there are alot more people that they didn't show.

That's why the Haitian and (I think) Claire are there. They're going to end up as the equalizers. The Kryptonite if you will.

I had problems with Magneto not ripping the safe door open and with Sylar and HRG starring in a buddy comedy. Other than that... definite improvement over the first two eps. Oh and HRG saying he's going to find Sylar's weakness when Sylar's weakness is standing right next to him.

Knox is my favorite of the new villains because he's the one with the fastest growing depth... and increasing the depth of others like the German when he punches the FUCK out of them. I would've said Jesse otherwise, but he got pwnd way too fast with the reputation they built up for him. I guess Sylar's going to show us what's so scary about him now, eh?

I guess I just don't get Sylar anymore. Yeah, he's still got some badass powers, but what's the point of his character? And (if I'm remembering correctly) why did he go willingly into the cell at the end of the episode?

The Haitian was standing right there, blocking his powers.

Well, true, but why would he go back to the Company holding cells anyway? He's gotta know what's coming...

Ugh. I have a lot more fun when I don't question this show.

I had problems with this, too, especially the safe door. It was like, "Hey, a barn! I think I'll walk around it." But I kind of got the same feeling when I used to read comics - having Magneto rip out Wolverine's skeleton was probably the single most satisfying moment I've ever seen in one. That's what you expect a villain to do.

As for their "buddy cop" moment, really - even though it would have made it a bit monster-of-the-week-like - I think Sylar should have just died at the end of the first season.

So far, the only thing that is really drawing me in this season - like Adam and Hiro in the last - is Parkman's journey.

I have to say, creepiest line though was when Momma Petralli (sp) did the "so you can feed" line. That shit sent a few chills down my spine. She treats him like hes her personal attack dog. It reminds me kinda of the movie see no evil. The mother son relationship kinda resembles this one

I agree that was pretty creepy, but don't forget Noah Bennet's dialogue about how the other villains should just turn themselves over because his partner's standing right behind them. GOD Sylar is sneaky!

I know a lot of people weren't impressed with Season 2 and aren't very impressed with Season 3, but I for one have been avidly watching S3 and enjoying it. The whole Syler/Noah team was a really big twist. I remember (I think it was on Attack of the Show) they mentioned something about the teamup but holy crap was I surprised.

Lint of Death

Likewise. I only found out about the team-up in a mini-preview just minutes before the show started so I was pretty glued to that TV for the following hour.

edit: anyone have any idea if Sylar knows about the Haitian yet?

It seems not many know about the Haitian. He does a pretty good job of staying out of the way.

On a side note at least Nikki is dead.. but then they brought her back as her twin sister/test tube sister. They must have watched too many day time soaps when they were writing in the new/old character.

So does Ali Larter have an iron-clad contract or is she resorting to the classic way of keeping an acting job?

Indeed, but why the hell did that chick just walk in there and offer herself up? How stupid was she?

The scary thing about Nikki's sister/clone/contractual obligation is that when the doctor greeted her at the door he referred to her as "Barbara" which implies at least one more clone/sister is out there.

Oh, and why was Ando placed in a cell with Hiro? Wouldn't they be separated and how could they know Ando has powers?

We don't even know if Ando has powers.

We do know that at some point in the future that won't happen someone who looked just like Ando appeared to be able to shoot red lightning at Hiro.

Ugh.

Yes. Thank you. And I'd speculate it's much more likely to be Peter, we already know he can shape shift.

Ugh.

The Suresh formula probably gave him powers.

So much about the way the characters act angers me. Mainly it's the time travel shit. "Hurry! there is no time to waste in the frozen moment to help our friends! We have to quickly go to the future! Then we will return weeks from now... because a character as powerful as you Peter, needs to be kept out of the picture!"

The whole possibility about Sylar being a 3rd Petrlli pisses me off... the idea that no one notices her giving birth... gah! Only thing I'd like to see is that Sylar in fact has the exact same power as Peter, but because Sylar is unable to relate to people, the only way he can understand them is by cutting them open.. while Peter uses empathy.

I also don't like that were was no Sureshfly this episode, what the hell?

I keep watching the show, but it keeps pissing me off with how stupid the characters are, mainly Hiro, who while amusing in the first season comes off as more than a bit insane this season.

I have to say, this show has until the next episode to show how it is moving somewhere, or I am done. There are too many goddamned characters. More important, too many completely useless ones. Are they just remaking the Justice League?

I keep waiting for him to grow the hell up. He should become like the Hiro of the future already. I guess it's not happening this season.

The future Hiro might not be better, but at least it would be different from the same thing we've had the last 2 years.

See, some of what he does amuses me ("Hello, nemesis.")

But some of it is just stupid...

I found Hiro's destiny crap really cloying. The bit where his dad told him not to open the safe. He's fucking whining about having to find his destiny. I had to suppress the up chuck.

The problem is that they realized there was a market for a lot of these characters (or, as they say, "they grew attached" to them). If I recall correctly, many of them were supposed to die in the first season. Now it seems like they've just given up on the thought of ever really killing anyone.

If they decide to get rid of Hiro, I still think he was a good enough character to deserve a really awesome death (or whatever they decide to do).

Ando is the best part of the pair in my mind. Hiro was fantastic as a character in season 1, though, and I'm referring to present Hiro rather than future. I really really do not want to see Hiro die though. He's too much a good guy in practically every respect that it would be heartbreaking.

edit: As for dumb characters, I think it's great that future Peter's so unrelentingly dumb. It makes me like present Peter more and his screw-ups are hilarious.

And as for killing off characters, these villains are already being torn to pieces. In the span of one bank robbery all but one of the main group are dead or reimprisoned.

What a waste. First to only have them rob a bank? LAME. And then...ugh. They're all dead, pretty much? Fuck. So...the villains are Sylar and Adam? AGAIN?

Like I said earlier...don't think about it and it's not as horrifyingly stupid.

I think that's why it'd be a great move for the series. They'd do something truly risky, something worth remembering and it would make room for new characters. I actually liked that aspect of Season 2, when he was in the past and the present day story was focused more on everyone else. Granted, they didn't really use it to the best of their advantage, but it was still a great setup - there was Hiro and there was no Hiro.

Hiro is pretty much the brand's character tho. No one else is as easily identifiable for the series so they'll never have the guts to do anything serious to him.
