The Steam weekend deal is Spellforce 2 for $15.

Is this game any good? I know nothing about it.

Its a hardcore strategy RPG if I remember correctly, trailers showed gorgeous graphics back when it was launched. if this $15 gets you the expansion that came out with it as well then check it out... the reviews were fair.

i rather enjoyed the games...real intresting mix of rpg and rts... don't think you can go much wrong for $15 since it really is a rather unique game

I had an Abby's Pizza delivery driver who used to constantly bring it up every time he delivered because he'd seen me playing NWN once on the computer in my tiny studio apartment.

It wound up being one of those things where I didn't want to have anything to do with it just because some annoying guy wouldn't shut up about it. ;)

It does include the expansion in the price.

Pretty tempting, but I do have a lot of games to play already. None of you sound too enthused, so I'll probably just pass on it.

For a second I thought it was Sacred 2 for 50% off, and I got really excited.

As usual steam fails to impress with false deals, you can find spellforce universe which includes the original, expansion and v2 together for near that price.

Links?

All of the stores I searched that even carried it sale Spellforce Universe for 30 dollars. Those stores were Amazon, GoGamer, Best Buy, Walmart, and Buy.com.

Spellforce and Spellforce II are both great games. The original required some serious patching at first but the second was ok from day one. The expansions are good too.

Doesn't really fit in any genre. It is a blend of action RPG and RTS.

Well shit, that sounds exactly up my alley. I guess I have a decision to make in the next 3 hours.

Too late, but I picked these up a while ago. They're okay, but I found them ultimately tedious.

I picked them up...pretty cheap. If I get a few hours out of them before they become tedious, then so be it.

There is a widescreen hack, where you alter the xml config file and enter the dimensions you want.

config.xml

Found at (in Vista) "C:\Users\your name here\Documents\SpellForce2"

Look for:

screenheight="1200" screenwidth="1600"

and change it to what you want.

Just a note...everytime you change something in-game in options, this will be reset to default resolutions.

I ended up picking them up. Game looks quite nice with all the graphical options turned up, and still runs very smoothly on my rig, which is a bonus. I played for about an hour last night getting through the tutorial content and think it's alright so far. Nothing other games haven't done, but I'm alright with some Diablo in my RTS'ing.

Will see how they hold up. I'll be surprised if I don't get $15 worth of enjoyment out of them, though.

I picked them up as well, but I haven't tried them out yet. Looking forward to giving them a go this weekend.

They were interesting games, I enjoyed them lots, but then they were good games to play between other releases. Sounds like a good deal, pick em up and have a spin.
