Nice...I've been itching to take a look at this game for a while now.

It's really a screenshot paradise, that game.

Awesome game. Well worth the $26 admission. Looks and runs great in DX10 too.

Too bad Massive hasn't done much with this franchise. I would have expected an expansion by now. Guess they are too busy with the console version.

The expansion ('Soviet Assault') was due to have been out by now I think. Then Activision happened, threw Massive out with the rubbish and left them lying in the gutter until Ubisoft came along. It seems Massive have been put to work on a 'light' MMO though, so who knows what the future holds for WiC.

The expansion should have been pretty much finished, surely they can get it pushed out the door?

Massive have released a number of new maps since release, and were working on an expansion, before Activision gave them the axe.

Now they're with Ubisoft, who're apparently working to turn the company into a developer of shitty casual MMOs. Whether the xpac will still see release before they lay off the last of the actual MAssive employees, remains to be seen.

I doubt we'll ever see the expansion. Sales of WiC absolutely did not match up to Activision's expectations, and Ubisoft apparently bought them for their technical skills rather than their creative ones.

Well if you can't exploit it no need to keep them around.

No one seems to want to exploit the franchises I like but then if they did I guess I might not like them anymore.

I cannot see how it was not a sales success, it has been on the Direct 2 Drive top ten off and on since it was released.

I take it this is a good game?

All I know about this is that they spammed the 1UP podcasts with WiC ads for months. I got sick of hearing them. :p

Good is a matter of perspective. It is not a Relic RTS.

I found it brilliant, and a greatly refreshing change of pace from the standard RTS formula.

It plays more like a team-based shooter than the stock turtle/base-builder modle almost every damn game uses.

a) Top ten on D2D may mean a lot or it may mean nothing at all. Who really knows? It's not like there are any sales numbers available for D2D.

b) It's a moot point at this time since the company was bought out and is now basically a shovelware factory.

Its' the best game of 2007 for PC IMO.

It's too bad UbiSoft isn't going to do this studio justice. It's not like the market needs more crappy MMOs.

Well shit, this is the pricepoint I have been waiting for, and on Steam to boot. Looks like I will finally get to try this game.

WiC was a fresh new take on the RTS genre, focusing more on the action than base building and I found it to be thrilling. I loved that if you burned up most of the units because of a bad tactical decision you could still scramble and pump out more units, instead of having to wait for more food/resources.

Besides playing more like a strategic action game than an RTS, WiC also looked fantastic and had a decent story built around it as well.

It is not much to argue about. There is little doubt that Massive ran up against some major problems. Sierra was their partner, and it is obvious that Vivendi when it bought up much of Sierra wanted nothing to do with them. Initially it was under the umbrella of Activision-Blizzard, but it was not retained. If my choice as a businessman is to go to the next bidder, to keep myself and my people employed, or try to farm off my next title independently in this market, I will take the smarter money. The same thing happened to Iron Lore, except no one seemed interrested in buying them up.
