File this one under lost opportunities.

I'm very proud of the show we've put together for this tour and have been working hard the last few months to find a way to capture it. I had an amazing situation lined up that would have allowed me to film the show in 3D with James Cameron's team for a theatrical release as well as DVD / BluRay, etc. We had an extra date added to the tour that we were going to give away all the tickets for and have a filming party / thank you show.

I made two critical mistakes. One was to approach a certain record company that owns some of the song rights about producing / funding. The second was to allow said company to fuck around as usual for months before saying um... no. We then achieved the impossible by finding alternate production / funding but the timetable is too rushed to get it filmed comfortably with the remaining time left on the tour. This tour and a lot of the personnel involved finish at the end of this leg, so we can't push filming into Jan / Feb.

Deep breath...
This was an amazing tour and production - certainly the best thing I've ever been involved with and likely the final tour for NIN on this scale. Thank you to those who came out to see it and forgive me for having a Kanye West moment, but this was FOR SURE the best show of the year and any bullshit end-of-the-year poll you may read in the next few weeks that says otherwise simply has it wrong. Those of you who saw it know I'm right.

The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future.I don't know what to think of that one....first of all the fans are screwed again by record companies out of the chance to see such an awesome tour live on dvd in 3D even. And then he goes on to say it will probably be the last NIN tour of this scale....does he mean production wise or just that they won't be doing a large touring run anymore? And there at the end it does at least say that 2009 will be the last NIN shows for a while.

........ :(

Sandman, I think he meant that LITS tour is going to be the last tour of this scale. This is not the beginning of the end of Nine Inch Nails (har har har). Needless to say, holy fucking shit. I'm glad I saw NIN when I did.

I bet this cuts him deep. Real fucking deep.

He is ALMOST right.

It's the best tour of the year, but the second best show.

Best show goes to My Bloody Valentine, hands down.

However, this deeply saddens me, as I would buy that disk so fast...

At least I got to see them.

And they were right here in town. And I thought about going. Problem was, it was Thanksgiving week and one of the few works days that week. I'm too old to be up all night on a work night.

Man. Thank God. I had a sinking feeling this was going to be his best tour, and that I couldn't afford to miss it.

Remember when I told you to go Sandman? Remember that?!?! ;)

This is unfortunate. I was lucky enough to see him live this year, so that sort of makes up for it. I do love my NIN HD-DVD I bought a while back...would have loved to get a new high-def disc out of this year's concerts.

Yeah, I'm definitely glad I went, but the fact that we won't get a professional DVD of this light setup is pretty sad. My NIN BluRay by far make the best use of the format.

Hopefully we'll get some sort of DVD filmed before the end of the tour, even if it isn't fancy 3D.

That line about it being the last tour on this scale is troubling, but hopefully it just means they're going to do some in-studio album work and then maybe small venues for a while.

Hey, check it out, he added a little bit tot he end...

** UPDATE **
The venue for Friday night's performance in Victoria will have a very relaxed camera / camcorder policy... hmmn...

Maybe they'll do like they did with the first DVD and compile a bunch of fan videos onto a DVD for us. At least there will be some record of this awesome light show floating around out there.
