Monday’s episode, back from the holidays, is now available for download (http://ingamechat.net/audio/IGC20081201.mp3).
Our brief hiatus for sickness, terrorism and holiday merriment has left us with a lot of fuel to burn for the show. We’ve covered a respectable amount of ground in each of our personal journeys through fourth-quarter software, and in some cases have found new ground altogether. Though even if we hadn’t, the gaming news from the week past would have provided a surplus of talking points.
This episode is longer than our usual offering, thanks not only to the topics of today, but to some nostalgia for days, games and systems past. We hope the extra content is enjoyable, and that the extra time is of no great inconvenience. Barring any failure of self-control, we should be back on schedule and within our sixty-minute budget for the rest of the week.

Well, isn't the breaking of the sixty-minute mark how we know if a certain, unnamed someone gets a little... ranty? :)

Wow. They learn quick, don't they?

Why the self imposed 60 minute mark?? Every show should be as long as possible! Record your pre-show banter and I'll listen to it I swear.

I just shot you guys an email, I hope it didn't come off as a mad fanboy or anything, cause I certainly didn't intend it that way. I tried to be even handed, but you never know how someone else will take something.
Interesting show. One day I'll get a PS3... maybe... when the price goes down. *Sigh*

I wouldn't worry much about that. My drive home after every show we record is spent wondering how much like a crazy old shit I'm going to sound to our audience. I have a lot more control over how I express myself in audio format than any of us do in text, but I almost never feel like I get it right.
So even if a mail or comment feels sharper than was intended, we automatically give it as wide a berth as possible, because it's pretty clear that you guys do the same for us.

I forgot, I was also going to comment on the MK vs DC thing. I'm almost possitive that DC said they couldn't do it without a Teen rating, and even though the Joker jammed a pencil into someone's eye, the movie was still PG-13, which is roughly the equivalent of Teen. Mature would be R, and they won't make a Batman movie with an R rating. I guess that just shows the discrepencies between the ESRB and MPAA, though.
Also, there are other things I don't like about the hardware in the 360 I forgot to mention, like no HDD standard, HDMI comming later, etc. :)

Fishy, keep on ranting. Those tangents are some of my favourite parts of the show. I don't always agree with what you have to say, but I can usually sympathize with why you're saying it.
Plus it's like you're having the kind of conversation I WISH I could have with live people. If I tried having the kind of discourse you have, I'd get hauled away in a straightjacket. I still get funny looks from my coworkers when games come up in conversation, and they KNOW that I'm the resident gamer nerd.
Sigh.

I whole heartedly agree!

No! I like the 60 minute limit. Sure, it's fine to go over by a bit here and there, but there are already too many 3 hour podcasts out there. A huge reason why I love IGC is because it isn't one of the insanely long gaming podcasts and I can listen to an episode in a reasonable amount of time.

Just listening now...and I thought of something that I wonder if I can request?
The opening music you guys choose from whatever games is usually great...so great that I wish I knew what it was most of the time. I seem to recall a time in the past, when you would mention "and that was the music from 'such and such'"...
Is it possible to give a comment on what music you guys open with? Unless it's too much trouble or an annoyance...you guys do such a great job, I wouldn't want to add more work :o

Glad you like the music selections! When we recorded live, the music was actually playing when we recorded the show. Now that we pre-record, the music is added in after the fact. That's why we don't comment on it during the show anymore, but we are trying to include music credits in the show descriptions on a more regular basis.

You were doing pretty well with having the music in the show notes but I've noticed it missing in a few of the last episodes. That said, awesome choice for this show.
The one that recently threw me for a loop was the Big American show. The crazy Russian/German rap song was playing at the top of the show and I was yelling at my radio because I knew the song, but couldn't figure out where I knew it from... I eventually figured it out, but I was cursing you guys for not putting it in the show notes :)

Anytime it happens, it is all my fault. So you can always send me irate PMs or messages via live. Usually I'm just in a rush to get it done, and thus forget.

You won't have that out for long buddy!
Guys man up and just keep talking. I don't care about a sixty minute mark. If you wanna keep talking and talk I don't care. I like hearing your opinions on stuff, it keeps me going throughout the day. Especially when Daniel and James really get into it. Hell if you wanna talk for 20 minutes about the glory of Ketchup Chips then that's fine by me. Longer would in fact be better :D

I love your podcast, but please stop talking about the hardware and concentrate on the games. We have enough "console wars" in the forums so there's no need for it in podcast form as well.
And, fishbang, please calm down :) I'm worried about your blood pressure since you sound upset all the time.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the answer. The only reason I brought it up was because I do love the music and, more often than not, I recognize it, but don't know where it's from.
I'm still waiting for the Google search that will allow me to search songs...
