Rosie O'Donnell's much-hyped variety show, Rosie Live, has been canceled after just one episode.

And there was MUCH rejoicing.

WOW. I wonder how often that happens?

That's My Bush! only lasted a season... but then, I really wish it had gone longer :p

lol etc
didn't we all get sick of Rosie back in the 90s? I mean that WAS the last time she was relevant.

I had the misfortune of stumbling upon Liza Minnelli and Rosie doing some broadway number, I screamed and dove out of the room. I now have seven days until I die.

To quote Dave Chappelle from a skit: "Now that man I'd hate to fight. Cause she wears underwear with dick-holes in 'em."

I'm very glad I never got to see this.

I doubt that Rosie's show would have ever been good, but a *good* variety show can be uniquely entertaining. Unfortunately, only three come to mind: the Smothers Brothers' show from back in the 60s, the Muppet Show, and Penn and Teller's Sin City Spectacular. That's less than one per decade, and none of them lasted very long.

Viva Variety was a hoot!

The State crew can do no wrong. Except for their CBS Christmas Special. That was only 20% funny.

I don't know that we could call Rosie Live canceled. It was a pilot that wasn't picked up.

I'm not sure why they thought giving a show to a woman who was kicked off the view because everyone hated her was a good thing.

It was dropped, it failed miserably, it sucked the life out of the time slot it was in...

Rosie is about as relevant these days as Duke Nukem Forever.

I'd read that it was just a backdoor pilot and NBC, after the attempt, decided not to make it a regular series.

You think THAT is great news? How about the fact that both MADTV and Mind of Mencia have been cancelled?

True story: When I was in high school, I wrote a humor column for the school newspaper, and wrote a joke about Rosie being a lesbian, something to the effect of "I don't know why people are so upset about Ellen, at least she's willing to admit it, unlike Rosie", only funnier.

Two portly girls from the choir group apparently threw a fit and complained to the vie principal, so I wound up holding this weird conference meeting with the VP, my editor/teacher, and the girls. I acquitted myself well, arguing I believe in favor of the freedom of humor vein and such, and apparently really impressed the VP with my PR skills.

Of course, to no one's surprise whatsoever, I turned out to be right on the mark to the extent of the woman practically getting married on live TV. I kind of wonder how those two took the news . . .

That is awesome news. I hate to see MadTV go, but I really wasn't watching it anyway. As for Mencia though...fuck, there should be dancing in the streets right now.

I just looked out my window - no street dancing. However, there's a happy dance going on in my pants right now!

After it became clear that Carlos Mencia makes a regular habit of stealing jokes, how was his career not killed instantly?

Because for some inexplicable reason enough asswipes still tuned into his show.

This season of Prison Break is the best one yet. If they want to wrap it up this year, I'm all for it, as long as they're given adequate notice so they can tie up loose ends.

Heroes is a lost cause at this point, and Fringe is all right, but each episode is too self contained for my liking.

Anyway, it's even awesomer news that Mind of Mencia is canceled. Wheeee!!

If by totally awesome, you mean worse....

Just make Hiro into future Hiro already. This dopey Japanese tourist thing is done, the charm of it is over, make him a fucking badass already. Someone slap Peter to stop acting like a dipshit and just kill Clare somehow. I don't care how, but kill her and make her gone.

Looks like someone didn't watch the past couple episodes :p

Hiro's not the future asshole, but he's very different, Peter stopped being stupid weeks ago and in fact is now way awesome, and Claire... well, the two past two eps were pretty great, I'm not one to spoil too much.

If you mean by last night's episode, no. I'll watch it when I get home. Other than them finally killing Clare, I doubt either of my other predictions happened.

I also understand people want to see Veronica Mars get it on with Sylar. But that doesn't make it a good show.

I indeed was referring to last night; what makes it a good show is more related to what was also happening as Sylar and Elle started making out at the end of last week :D

Even better's the stuff going down in Haiti. And Mohinder bashing the shit out of Flint with a microscope.
