I know we have a couple of threads about Far Cry 2, but both are non-spoiler. Let's talk about the ending!
First of all, why the hell did all my dead buddies come back to try to kill me?
Second, I thought the ending was kind of disappointing since you apparently die either way. I chose the battery option, does anything significantly change if you choose the diamonds? I'm too lazy to go back and find out, which brings me to my next point...
This game's repetitiveness basically ruined the experience for me.
Every time you accept a mission, you have to travel several miles across the map, being ambushed by random jeeps along the way, probably being spotted by guard stations, and being shot by random guys that can inexplicably see you clearly enough to blow your head off, and when you actually figure out where they are, you find that they're physically out of your line of sight, magically shooting through trees and hitting you. Frustrating, to say the least, except.... oh yeah you have to do this same song-and-dance before each and every one of the storyline missions, plus all the side missions you choose to do.
Of course you can crouch walk through the grass if you've bought the camosuit and evade most of this, but walking gets pretty old considering the distances you have to travel for certain missions.
I don't think it's because I suck, because I barely died at all during the game. With the amount of health you have, it's pretty hard to. But having to fend off jeep after jeep after jeep every time you accept a mission is just retarded.
What's the solution? A warp system? The buses help, but you still end up driving a lot, especially later in the game. I don't know what the fix is, but perhaps some realism should've been sacrificed to make the game a little less repetitive.
Alright, most of this post wasn't about the ending, but it's about the game experience as a whole, so I'm going to keep the title the way it is. :)
Fire away!
