Hello guys :)

I'm looking for games that center around exploring/unravel mysteries about lost forgotten ancient civilizations/ruins.

Platforms won't matter since I own a laptop & several consoles.

Waiting for your recommendations :)

Uncharted?

Is it?

I don't have a PS3 at the moment but I could borrow it from a friend who also happens to own that game:)

here's some games that fits into my criteria:

Star Control II :discovering aliens was a blast.

Reunion: I liked the way you interact with Aliens.

Albion: Self explanatory.

Ico & Shadow of the collosus(sp?) : I love the abstract ruins.

Grandia I: Loved the ruins of the latter part of the game.

Metroid Prime I: mainly the art design of Talon IV.

it doesnt have to be a a human civilization, I'd be happy with an alien one too:)

Suddenly, Uncharted may not be the choice.

Um, are you a planted PR bot/shill for the new Tomb Raider?

Although they don't exactly fit the criteria, I recommend the Penumbra (http://www.penumbragame.com/) series and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (http://www.callofcthulhu.com/), both are fantastic and sort of play into the ruins/different civilization theme. Both are First-Person, but I wouldn't exactly call them shooters, more survival horror, although Cthulhu has shooting in it, you don't even get a gun until halfwayish through.

thanks for the recommendation:)

Broken sword II also comes to mind although centering around the Mayan civilization although it was too realistic for my taste.

Since it sounds like you like adventure games, maybe the old LucasArts Indiana Jones games would tickle your fancy?

Eternal Darkness is a good one, though it's not solely about that, there is an element of exploring old ruins in there in some of the levels. The Legacy of Kain games have a bit of that too.

I see into Eternal darkness. The Legacy of Kain series do suffer from a bit of bland ruins. I think they're more focused on the characters & story more than the ruins themselves.

Oh yeah I remember one I played; Star Trek the Next Generation: A Final Unity.

The fifth Scroll and the Chodak ruins were awesome:D

I second axion's choice of Call of Cthulu - it's also BC on Xbox 360.

Pac-Txt (http://pac-txt.com/) would be a good choice.

Lost or Forgotten Civilizations eh? Mysteries?
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is a decent start
If you want to get a bit more conspiratorial, Deus Ex looks into the mystery of American Geo-Politics and corporate government culture.
The Witcher is shrouded in Eastern and Western European lore and myth. Eventually you may find yourself say in Avalon, for example.

Indigo Prophecy.

A word of warning.
Both versions, that fucking chase scene(you guys know what I am talking about)...Is bitch hard the first couple of times.
White knuckle, hurt old ladies, flick your own nuts because it feels better than going through the level again...hard.

You have been warned.

I heard that before I had tried it and I didn't find it that hard since I knew what to do. I understand that it is a pain since there's no crosshair so actually clicking where you want can be a pain.

Without prior knowledge or if it just doesn't click with you its a nut crunchy monster of repeating hell.
