I've been stuck at home all holiday weekend, which means my only computer access has been via the PC hooked up to the ancient ass TV in the living room, which only outputs 800x600. I have a spare monitor I could hook up for the surfing bits, but I'm not sure where I'd fit it, and I'm not sure the ancient ass Radeon 7000 could even handle both at once.

It does alrightish once you get use to the screen and turn up the text size a bit, but one thing that gets annoying is that COG isn't a variable width page, so I'm stuck scrolling left and right constantly to see who's actually saying what I'm reading in any given post.

If I was on Opera of course, I could just click the button to fit the page width to the window and it would make it work, and I might just do that anyway.

What I'm hoping though, is that someone knows of a nifty FF plugin that emulates that same feature, so I can keep browsing about with my adblock on.

Anyone?

Doesn't Opera use an adblock type program? If so, why not just use that? Also, I remember using the Dreamcast internet browser, and that was bad. 800x600 is a step up :P

Can't you just zoom in and out in FF until the text exactly fits the screen width? That's what I do on my regular monitor...

It's not the text so much as the page formatting. COG is set to a fixed width, no matter what the text size, it'll always be a given number of pixels wide, in the case of this site, I think it's somewhere around 1024.

Opera's got a fit to width function that forces the page to format to the screen width anyway.

Which is what I'm using now, actually. It works fairly well, and as an added bonus, Opera's zoom affects more than just text size, which is a great help. I think I'll probably just stick with it.

Grr. Of course, hulu runs like poo in Opera for some reason.
