Depends what you want to do? Ironbreakers do that fountain of bodies thing, with knock-back. Engineers are ranged DPS. Interesting, and can be fun. Warrior Priest... healer that runs up and bashes heads in... YEA!!! :-) What do you WANT to do?

Warrior Priests sound like D&D clerics. This is a good thing in my book. Too many games take the JRPG model for their healers instead by making them all pansies in dresses.

Engineers are ranged DPS.

They can be, Engineer, like magus, is more of a Zone Control class. they have three trees. One is focused on long range attacks, the other is focused on mid range attacks, the third is close range attacking.

So I see you're a tank...how is playing a tank in the PvP later on in the game? I did already start a Chosen.

I'm only 23, so it is hard to say T4/endgame, but I really love it. Grab one of the guild healers, and we can go stomp around a lot. I'm like a little bearded damage over time spell that just won't got the hell away. :)

However, you really need some DPS classes to keep the healer alive. One big problem as a tank is that I can't take out people before they take out my healer; I just have to root/snare them to give my healer time to get away.

Destruction seems to roll over Order on certain maps in rvr but on others Order seems to hold its own/kick ass. The dwarf t2 rvr scenario (mourion mountain? something like that) tends to lean towards Order on my server. I blame that in no small part to it being a small map with tight corners thus allowing Bright Wizard AOE kickassery (its a word) to take full advantage.

Given what this game's focus is, I'm surprised more people didn't roll on Open RvR. Seeing as how I've never chosen those types of servers before now, I decided to take a chance with WAR and I'm loving it....having a small band of people take down a player that out levels us by a lot (when he thought he was going to get some free kills) is great fun.

The ganking isn't too bad as the chicken mechanic is still in place, it just happens two tiers lower instead of one, and it's for the entire zone, not just the RvR lake. The only downside to this is trying to go back and get Tome Unlocks when you hit max...this kind of pisses me off, but maybe they'll think of a solution.

I really really wanted to play Open RvR, but the Fallen Guard set up shop on a Core server so I decided that sticking with a community I already know and like was more important.

Yeah, it's cool...I really wanted to play on Red Eye, but I still just can't find a destruction class I can see myself putting time into. At this point I'm going to play these Order characters and see what the Choppa and Blackguard are like when they get those classes back in.

Otherwise, I could see myself playing a Black Orc at some point...those things last forever. Chosen are fun, but I'm not playing a character until 39 before I get to actually play the class as it was intended.

I have no idea what my favorite class is (because I haven't played them all extensively), but I really enjoy the Black Orc. It's a fun environment to play in and kickin' stunties in da jibblies doesn't get old.

I feel obligated to disclose that I am the sort that consistently plays physical-damage classes, especially melee. The action points system fortunately narrows the gap, that so-critical mana bar that drives me away from mages, along with the melee-casters, so this seems like a good game for me :p

Playing to level 40 I only had to grind 1/3 of 1-2 levels. This was before they added in the extra repeatable quests.

In other words, you never had to grind as much as you're saying in the first place and you definitely didn't have to 3-4 weeks after release when they added in the extra repeatable quests.

Perhaps you were staying in just one realm instead of doing all of the quests in chaos, greenskin, and dark elf territories? Sticking with just one area works up till around Chapter 6 or 7, after that you have to do all three to advance without grinding.

Anyway, RvR has really come into its own on the last month or two, and two warband armies are an almost nightly occurance. Plus, now that they made PQ's easy/medium/hard, they're actually completable and the population is more concentrated on the easy or medium ones.

This is talking about T3. I hear that T4 is even more nuts.

QFT. 40 mobs, lol, I was pulling hundreds. Werewolves, ninjas, oh my. CoH brought new meaning to the idea of power-levelling. My favorites were regen scrappers and Inv/Fire tankers. I could pull ridiculous mobs with my inv tanker.

I quit when they nerfed all my d00ds. Sorry, but fighting 3 or 4 guys at once doesn't feel very... super.

My character on Phoenix Throne has moved from Ruin to a much larger and more active guild, V'los Vel'drin. I've been introduced to the concept of the Guild-only or Allliance-only warband, which can be insanely well-coordinated.

Started a new Black Orc on my own account this time named Thuggor. I'm only like level 3 so far, as I just got it last night.

I'm still debating making a Marauder as well, because I love that class as much if not more than the Black Orc, I just couldn't make up my mind and was kinda tired so figured I'd go with the class that's nigh impossible to kill so that if I passed out at the keyboard I'd have like 20 minutes to wake up before death. ;)

I took the free 10 days purely because it was as simple as clicking the link in the email. No detail entry or payment details. Just click the link and you're in.

Overall I'm finding the game very much the same as the day I quit.
The early levels are so damn boring that I can't make it past level 10 before getting bored and logging off.
It doesn't help that I go through the whole thing thinking "WoW does this better" at nearly every single aspect. WoW has spoiled me I think. I expect the same level of polish in every MMO now even though I know it's not a realistic expectation.

after reinstalling and downloading patches i logged in twice for like an hour or so each before my time was up... not sure if it's WAR or just mmo's in general that i'm lacking interest in at the moment. When i have the money i might resub with wow for a while but honestly with steam and steam sales and such there's just so much stuff you can get for your money these days.

I'm totally hooked again. I had forgotten how much I liked this game.
I'm on the Euro servers, obviously, playing Destruction on Karak-Norn (Level 30 Black Orc called Grizz) and Order on Karak - Eight peaks (Level 14 Warrior Priest called Magdal).

Need to find a decent guild.

So.. I've been playing wow for a few weeks again, but I've really wanted to play WAR. I had much more fun in WAR. But.. I have a mac.

I just got this email..

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. It's a Cider port, which basically means it's running in someones half-arsed version of WINE, with all the performance you'd expect from such a thing.

As a man who once was a champion of Mac Gaming, who proudly pointed out to the world that "Hey, things really aren't that bad over here, you should check out our Escape Velocity", I personally wish to firebomb Transgaming headquarters every bit as much, perhaps more, than the open source types who are still chafing at them stealing their code.

Well, I'm very much enjoying it, haven't touched a single PvE quest, just levelling through PvP. It does seem like dev on it has stopped, and the exploits that occasionally crop up annoy the shit out of me, but overall I'm having a lot of fun.

The PvP was always the best part of the game. I enjoyed the open quests/events they had, but I feel like Rift does it better now. Maybe some day I will wander back to this...
