Song covers are always a bone of contention for a lot of fans. But sometimes a cover gives a new life to the original. What are your favorites?
Johnny Cash - One (originally by U2)

Bruce Dickinson and Godspeed - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (originally by Black Sabbath)

That's funny, I was going to post two related, but different songs. I enjoy Hurt by Johnny Cash (orig, Nine Inch Nails), and Supernaut by 1000 Homo DJs with Al Jourgensen from that Nativity in Black album. Creepy.
Also have to give a shout out to Man Who Sold the World by Nirvana (orig. David Bowie).
Sorry, no youtube links for me while at work.
EDIT: Forgot Cake's version of War Pigs. Yes, I know, two Black Sabbath songs. I cannot help it if they happened to write the best rock songs ever.

I am a big fan of "Land of Confusion" by Disturbed, and I am not usually a big fan of covers. For example, I really dislike Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt."

I highly highly highly recommend both of these songs. It's amazing what Juanes was able to do with Joe Arroyo's "La Noche". Watch as it goes from salsa to AWESOME ROCK.
Cover by Juanes (BONUS! This one's live):

I enjoy Hurt by Johnny Cash (orig, Nine Inch Nails),
That is a very sad song when sung by Johnny Cash, with pictures of his wife all over the piano, etc...then he dies shortly after :(
Two of my favourite covers are by Glen Hansard (Frames/Swell Season)
Cry Me a River
-The version on iTunes from the charity album "Even Better Than the Real Thing" is much cleaner and better (studio recorded), but here's the live version. This guy kicks serious ass on the guitar, especially his beat to heck guitar he uses. Great live performance to go and see.

Again, the studio version is better.

Paint It Black was definitely meant to be a death metal song.

I love this album. Their cover of Too Drunk To Fuck (original by the Dead Kennedys) is probably my favorite.
My favorite cover might also be The Nurse Who Loved Me by A Perfect Circle (original song by Failure) or Be Still My Heart by The Postal Service (original song by Phil Collins). I also still have a soft spot for Down In The Park by Marilyn Manson (original song by Gary Numan).
I should note that in every one of these cases I love the original song as well, and except for the Postal Service cover, I pretty much prefer originals to covers everytime. I would have sworn there was at least two or three covers that I liked more than the originals, but I can't think of any except Be Still My Heart at the moment.

I was expecting this. I wasn't disappointed!
Don't get me wrong, I prefer Cash's version, but it's everywhere. And the original wasn't boring like the U2 song:p

I wouldn't say it is my favorite but I really like it.

Imagine - A Perfect Circle.
I think this version is way better then the original. Then again, I just don't like anything Lennon did.

The Rip - Radiohead
This is a cover of The Rip by Portishead off of the album "Third" This is probably my favourite track off of Third and while I don't think this cover is as good as the original version, it is very, very good.

Oops forgot one:
Landslide - Smashing Pumpkins (Stevie Nicks cover or Fleetwood Mac) Not that Bullshit Dixie Chicks version uh.. I hate them..

Oh and I agree that Paint it black cover death metal is terrible. Tea Party's version just destroys that one.

An absolutely magical cover of Bohemian Rhapsody by Bruce Dickinson, Monserrat Caballe (Freddie Mercury's favorite opera soprana) and the London Symphony Orchestra.
