View Full Version : Original Master of Puppets Artwork sold for $28k

The original cover artwork for METALLICA's classic 1986 album "Master of Puppets", painted by artist Don Brautigam, was snapped up yesterday (Monday, November 24) for $28,000 in a sale of popular culture and entertainment art at Christie's auction house at Rockefeller Plaza, New York City. (Note: The $35,000 final figure includes the Christie's buyer fees.)

The framed, 17x17-inch piece is signed on the lower right of the painting "DB."

The auction was part of the punk/rock sale, which included memorabilia from such artists as the RAMONES, SEX PISTOLS, THE CLASH, BLACK FLAG, LED ZEPPELIN and JIMI HENDRIX.source (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=109585)

Damn, would I love to have that original piece. $28K does seem a bit cheap for it.
