I can't use the IRC at the moment. After my shitty internet caused too many me's to show up in the channel I got banned yesterday morning. Usually I can get in a few hours later, but as of right now my ban still stands.

You're banned until 10/6 according to the message when you get booted. I can let you use my SSH server if you want to have a connection for a while.

Everytime you'd try to connect, it would say that you had a trojan and had banned you. You'd have to talk to an ETG server admin to get that fixed, I believe.

This is going to sound snarky, but just because you reinstalled an OS, does not mean you are malware free.

That being said, it would not hurt running a scan. Maybe a Panda online scan? Or at least asking an ETG admin for help.

Of course, I don't claim to know everything about viruses :).

I don't mind the topic wandering some, but most of the time it wasn't even a topic anymore, so much as a lot of inane nonsense that wouldn't even pass muster on 4chan.

I got it too. I thought maybe because it was because we moved to a new shop and had to manually configure our internet temporarily while we wait for the BendBroadband service guy to come out, but if others are getting it for no damn reason then it's probably just more sutpid bugs on their part.

Yeah, I tried email, I tried their "chat with an admin" form on the site, and no real response from either, so I'm still banned for no fucking reason and there's nothing I can do about it, as the only other option they give is hopping on to the #ETG channel, which you can't exactly do if you're being autokicked from the server.

Hey, guess what, I've also been banned. Apparently I'm trying to send some sort of virus through their system! That's kind of sad, being as I just did a reformat a couple weeks ago and haven't done anything but install a few games and patches since so I can't possibly have gotten anything.

I got the axe at one point because some bimbo marketeer downloaded some dancing duck video or some shit and wanted to know how to uninstall it because after that she had pop-ups. So her computer started spamming, and our IP was banned.

Yup. Server seems to be toast.

I guess now would be as good a time as any to find a new server.

I've set up a channel on irc.enerla.net (irc://irc.enerla.net), #colonyofgamers like always, in the interim.

It has both chanserv and nickserv on it, so folks can actually reserve their names and there's better channel control than ETG's awful chanserv.

EnterTheGame doesn't like Mibbit. Something like allowing only 3 total connections from Mibbit at a time. I use chatzilla but I don't know if that helps you at work.

Suave, all you have to do is head over to the ETG website and on the left look for chat with admin. They will check to see what happened and they will remove the ban. Just wait a little while if they don't respond, they will eventually. I know I had them do this for me a few times.

I'm having serious connection issues that keep spawning multiples of myself in the chat. I keep disconnecting and reconnecting. I've tried a few different clients, Mirc, Pidgin, and Leafchat... the problem persists. I don't know how to fix it.

First TrackZero comes up with some bullshit about me logging in from work and home at the same time and forces me to only keep one computer logged into the channel at a time. What kind of BS is that? I've logged in from work while keeping my home account logged in for ages. Then he says he doesn't want me to keep logs because I'll "go back and look at it from the time I'm between home and work to see if anyone insulted me". Come on man. I don't give a fuck if people insult me. I am not very confrontational in that channel, if I'm being insulted I'll usually close the window and go to something else. On top of all this through the whole time TrackZero has me on ignore because he can't stand me. You don't like me TrackZero, I get that. I don't know why you don't like me. I may talk about things you or others in the channel at the time don't like sometimes but I've never been anything but friendly. This brings me to my final point. I have now been banned from the channel. When I logged in after work I got this message.

usually if a server is down you should auto-connect to a different ETG server. The way IRC works is you can set up say 6 servers for a specific IRC Server so if 1, or 2 of them die you have the others to take on the load. They usually drop each server in different parts of the world to help with latency/etc.

Nope, emigrate is a more accurate term. Migrate means to move from one place to another, emigrate specifically means to move from your country to settle elsewhere. "Muddi emigrated from Pakistan just so he could access the CoG IRC channel."

So I was trying to sign in just now, as you do, and the client I'm using didn't want to. (AndChat, for Android, on my DX.) It isn't exactly working. I get "Disconnected: Connection reset by peer" The only option I see that could cause a problem is a choice of encoding? The default is UTF-8. I'm given a longass list, but I can't imagine that not being the default?

I doubt it's your text encoding.

It's more likely just the ETG is a piece of shit server that gets really pissy about non-standard connection methods.

Meebit, for instance, just doesn't work at all, and I've had problems getting on from mobile stuff before even on normal, non-shit servers, so I'm sure ETG just has a freakin' fit.
