To all the TF2 players, we welcome you. This will be the official thread for all TF2 related discussion on CoG.

I think in the long term, we should consider playing more matches as a clan. We don't necessarily need to get hardcore if people don't want to, but I think it would be really fun to try and organize more matches between sites like 1UP, or PA, or even some developers.

So sign up, and sound off!

I really need to get back into TF2.

Once I finally get around to installing TF2 on this rig, I would certainly be more than interested in this. Actually, I'll get set on doing that right now.

There were a couple of matches arranged a while ago (Devilturnip's group, plus one against PA I think). But, I do not have the details; I was/am most definitely not good enough to be involved in such things :)

I'd be up for some matches..as long as they aren't on our server lol.

Clan matches seem to take the fun out. It turns everything hardcore.
Like, the only reason we liked the first match, which was against the Control Point Podcast, is because we steamrolled them hard. Playing against PA, we did absolutely no practicing, and several of the people who said they would be there didn't show up, as it was a Sunday. We got steamrolled, so we swapped people out because several of us veterans stopped having fun.

For those who have not played/are fairly new to the game, feel free to join our server. Right now it's been fairly empty on Thursdays because of the fall. You won't have to worry about all the veterans beating up on you so hard. And you'll get to learn the game/maps at your own pace with input from the veterans.

Would this be the same server as pre-cog?

Should we be applying .CoG to our names, then?

Jackel

I would assume it'll be the same server, but that remains to be seen until Liquid finds his way here. As for the names, I'd wait until the official announcement tomorrow.

Fair enough. I guess I have no need to hurry since I haven't done anything significant on steam for over a month.

I would assume so. Right now it's titled "Rainwave.cc" but I could see that changing in the future.

I'm here, and I'm sort of miffed at the fact that Siraris thought he should create the topic.

If anyone it should be Vyzov or Random, if he'll be coming here. Failing that it should be me. Or hell, anyone who's actually really dedicated to the game, like Rogue or Ghostbear. It's a bit of a dick move.

Thats not fair Liquid. :( I think that Siraris has been more than accommodating to our TF2 community.

Well, someone who actually maintains the server should have the rights to edit the first post. When server information changes, or somebody donates, somebody has to update that post.

Speaking of which, we had a sizable donation recently come from somebody, and I'd like that person to step up! I'll cross post that to PIRI.

Ah, I get it now.

While we are here...is there any chance we can setup reserved slots on the server? Not that it has been needed lately, but it would still be nice for those times when the pubbers are filling it up.

Rogue_hunter

I don't think reserved slots are needed. My opinion, that's all.

I don't either, and if reserved slots were to be set up, they'd be for mods first, so that we guarantee a mod on when pubbies fill it up.

I don't necessarily think its a dick move, but I see where you're coming from.

This.

I couldn't play in the "friendly" matches we had against CP and PA cos the servers they were on gave me unplayable ping and teleporting, but I watched the replays and some of you guys were getting cut HARD.

I won't name names but I saw some really ugly sides of people who I usually love playing with, getting really frustrated and overly competitive (the replays saved ALL the voice chat) and taking it out on each other.

I think Lint was one of the only ones still having fun, laughing and face planting himself into walls at startup, but IIRC even this (what he always does) was pissing off some people because he wasn't taking it "seriously" enough.

So yeah, I vote no to the clanny stuff; TF2 is enough fun and we have enough of a solid crowd to get a good thursday game and the odd spontaneous game going. We lose players when big titles come out, but they always come back, and Valve just keeps adding content.

EDIT: Maybe Liquid should remake the thread so he can put all the server info up there as usual, this one isn't too long yet and there's plenty of spamming going on right now anyway due to the "new forum smell".

If and when I play TF2, I want it to be for fun, not for clan matches. Did plenty of that back in the Q1 days and, as Lon referred to, that leads to making things very much un-fun.

Are you guys talking about TF2 for PC or 360? It isn't a cross platform game is it?

Forgive my ignorance as I've only beat Portal and only got half way through Half Life before I got a bunch of other games.

I don't believe people who have TF2 on 360 can play with those who have TF2 on PC. Almost everyone I know from this community is referring to the PC version of TF2 when talking about events and stuff (including myself, who will be there tonight!).

Anyone down for some TF2 right now? I'm bored, and don't feel like doing school work.
