I only played about 20 minutes of MaxPayne on the Xbox. It looked like it was going to be a kind of gritty/ realistic guy VS the mob game. However, recent commercials for the movie look like there are all kinds of supernatural elements, demons flying things and what not. I just wanted to know, is there a demonic/ supernatural component in the game or is it just human versus human in a realistic world?

I do plan on going back to it at some point.

I don't seem to recall any actual supernatural stuff. I'm pretty sure it's used as visual metaphors for .. stuff. I never finished either MP though, so I could be wrong.

At the very end yes.

Yeah Drugs lots of them. But the game does have some kind of occult subtext.

The movie is using a lot of visual metaphors. You won't see any black crow angels throwing dudes out the window.

I hope they're visual metaphors. That stuff in the trailer better be Max's fucked up dreams/drug induced delusions, because if not then they've already messed up.

How you could mess up a movie translation of "guy vs the mob/big corporation" (TM) I have no idea.

Micheal Moore says Hi!

The drugged up dream sequences in the game were pretty out there. There was a hinting at some supernatural shit in the church level, but that was really more just a fucking nutjob with drugs.

Really, it just had the coolest drug sequences.

This thread is making me reinstall Max Payne, and Max Payne 2. I hope they work on XP.

They should work on XP. I think both were released during XP's life cycle. They run fine on 2000; anything that runs fine on 2000 should run on XP.

To echo what everyone else is saying, the angels and demons stuff were all drug-induced in the game.

The game also had a lot of Norse mythology mixed in somewhat subtley and more not so subtle. The drug Valkyr, the Aesir corporation, Alfred Woden, Alex Balder, the club Ragnarock, the massive snowstorm, etc.

The movie (trailer, at least) seems to take all of the subtle and neat little allusions and beats you over the head with them.

Micheal Moore says Hi!

Sorry, I should have added the qualifier of "guy with guns" as I'm thinking it's a pretty standard action movie thing to have:

one man, alone against <insert entity>. /movietrailerguyvoice

prepare to believe all over again, once more, again.

we need real spoiler tags.

Umm are you guys confusing Michael Bay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Bay) with Michael Moore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Moore)? If so, FAIL.

I thought it was weird that he said Michael Moore but I went with it since Moore does do that one man vs the corporations thing. Michael Bay makes more sense though so I think zirky meant him.

I exonerate myself from FAIL! :p

Actually, I meant Moore. He made a little movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310793/) once about a little guy vs a large corporation; there were even a lot of guns.

Micheal Bay just blows shit up randomly.

What made you think that Bowling for Columbine is a mess-up?
