Well I couldn't find a thread about this so I thought I'd create one. What are favourite movies? My absolute favourite movie (and I think I'll take flack for this) is High Fidelity. The book is much, much better, but I will happily watch the film at any time. Also love Ocean's Eleven (but none of the sequels) and Confidence. Man it looks like I have such bad taste right now.

The Big Lebowski, and....I'll get back to you. There are many, many others. Whittling them down into a compact form to answer you with is not an easy task.

One of my favorite movies this year and one that I demand any thriller/action lover see. Taken starring Liam Neeson.

Snatch is my favorite movie ever, by far. I loves me some Guy Richie. Their's just something about Bricktop explaining the meaning behind the phrase "greedy as a pig" that gives me the chills every damn time. Some other notables:

Army of Darkness
The Warriors
The Last Action Hero
Half Baked
Ghost Busters 1
Return of the Jedi

In the past I could give you a list, but these days there are just too many to name really. I am just a fan of good cinema.

I'll back you up on High Fidelity being a good movie, Raen. Shown it to a few friends and they really identify with it and love it. Bought the book in an airport last year and read it, great read and you have to give it to the writers of the screenplay (one of which was John Cusack), they really stuck to the source material.

Anyway, here's a few of mine since I like that this thread isn't full of old hat picks.

Sin City
The Matrix (Reloaded not so much, but Revolutions was nice)
The Dark Knight + Begins
Donnie Darko (I did enjoy Southland Tales)
Fight Club
28 Days Later (Never 'Weeks')
Kill Bill + Vol. 2
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
American Psycho
Shaun of the Dead + Hot Fuzz

That's probably too many. Oh and keep David Lynch far, far away from me.

They totally did, but I really would of preferred London as the setting. The only stuff I missed from the book was the scene where he goes to buy the records, but declines and the interaction between Laura and Marie. I think the record label worked much better than the whole club thing actually, especially how they linked it to him putting something back in.

I could make a laundry list, but decided to pick a few that I can just watch over and over.

Big Trouble in Little China
Shoot 'Em Up
Hot Fuzz
Bruce Lee films (Chinese Connection, Fists of Fury, Enter the Dragon)
Jackie Chan films (Police Story, Project A, Miracles...I prefer his older stuff)
Monty Python films (Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Holy Grail)

There's about a hojillion others I could pick, but I was hard pressed to even keep the list that small. I don't dislike dramas or more critically acclaimed movies, but when i just want something fun to watch, over-the-top action, gunfights, martial arts and comedies are my tops. I don't mind movies like these being silly or unrealistic or having bad dialogue. That's not why I watch them.

Bought and watched Evil Dead 2 on Blu-Ray yesterday, as it is my favorite movie ever. Was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time, and the friends I watched it with must have gotten annoyed by me saying, "I love this scene!" every 5 minutes.

I have way too many favorite movies. I tried to cut down my list, but it's too hard for me. It really just depends on what I feel like watching at the time. I'm seriously just copying and pasting the list I have on my Facebook.

Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Oldboy, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Leon: The Professional, Seven, Kamikaze Girls, Pan's Labyrinth, Punch-Drunk Love, Amelie, The Science of Sleep, Run Lola Run, Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, 2046, Three... Extremes, Battle Royale, Suspiria, Deep Red, Opera, Three Colors: White, Three Colors: Red, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Memento, Zodiac, Sin City, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness, Little Miss Sunshine, Futurama: Bender's Big Score, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Aladdin, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Love Actually, The Mexican, The Wedding Singer, the Indiana Jones Trilogy, the Back to the Future Trilogy

In short, I enjoy things by Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg, Wong Kar-Wai, David Fincher, Dario Argento, and (as much as I hate to admit it) Quentin Tarantino.

My favorite movies aren't extremely high-brow or anything. I like to be entertained.

Serenity
The Great Escape
Hot Fuzz
Goldeneye
Goodbye, Lenin!

The best movie I've seen lately is Dil Chahta Hai, nice modern romantic comedy-esque thing, Bollywood style.

I think the record label worked much better than the whole club thing actually, especially how they linked it to him putting something back in.

That first scene you mentioned, where Rob is asked to buy a ton of amazing records dirt cheap by the lady that found out her husband was leaving her is a deleted scene on the DVD! I found it after reading the book and was amazed, it's awesome!

Also, I was trying to think of my favorite comedy to add to my list, and as much as I like Kevin Smith, his movies aren't perfect. But someone reminded me of what is probably my favorite straight up comedy, Forgetting Sarah Marshall!

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is my favorite movie ever, followed closely by Babe (yes, the pig movie). I know it sounds silly, but Babe puts me in such a good mood every time I see it.
