To be fair, I think Guinness is great and I put something into every single pint I drink. Passion. If I knew it was going to be that kind of party...

Thousands of "passion"s.Exactly.

I could put sperm in a Corona and sell it for $100.00 a bottle as Golden Reserve. It would be seen as an improvement, to be sure.

It was never about money but rather time. Those bottles don't fill themselves you know.I always heard that Corona was actually bottled Mexican piss, so you may be wrong there.

And finally...
That aside, I've never been able to get in to Guinness... It seems odd to me to drink my meal.Salty recent nature of this thread aside- I love to drink my meal. If you don't like Guinness, you still should try an Oatmeal or Chocolate Stout. Young's makes a fine Oatmeal Stout and their Double Chocolate Stout will make you cry tears of joy.

There used to be a place in Yakima WA called Grant's that brewed some great stuff. Their Imperial Russian Stout would bring tears of joy to your eyes.

They just kind of faded away. One day I looked around and they were gone.

Young's Double Chocolate stout is quite good! The Muddy Pig, a pub located a few blocks from my apartment, had it on their beer list for ages but they were always out. They finally had a couple of kegs the last time I was in, and it was fantastic!

My father used to brew a chocolate raspberry stout that was divine. He would get huffy because when her held it flush with a 100 watt light bulb, there was still a reddish halo. I don't think he ever managed to get it any darker, though.

Berryweis.....BERRYWEIS?

That stuff is pure trash, ugh. There are few things in this world nastier than Berryweis.

My roommate loved that stuff. That and some crappy blueberry "beer".

Haven't had Berryweis, but Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat tastes like fruity pebbles. Seriously. It's a nice change of pace every once in a while.

And most blueberry beers I've tried are trash. There's one called Wild Blue that's just awful.

That said, Sweetwater out of Atlanta makes Sweetwater Blue which is fantastic. It's got an extremely crisp mouthfeel and the blueberry flavor is relatively subtle, so it doesn't feel like you're drinking fruit juice or anything. My roommate and I used to keep a six pack in the fridge because we both enjoyed it and it could be fed to any girls that came over without them complaining about it tasting horrible.

It's all about Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard. That, and their Imperial Russian Stout. Stone makes the best beers I've ever had the pleasure of drinking.

I don't know why, but I've never been able to get into Stone. It's good beer, but what I've tried just always struck me as somewhat unremarkable. Then again, I feel the same way about Fat Tire, which everybody seems to rave about.

Rock Bandit's right (on his first statement anyway), I'm in Texas- College Station to be exact, though I live in Houston when not in school. And I have to say, I grew up in New Mexico and have been to quite a few states, and I'm happy where I'm at with the people around me. It's a great state!

But yeah, any CoGers who can make it down here in February are more than welcome to join in on the festivities!

Um, that's a globe. You can tell by the stand (well, either that's a stand or I have a gargantuan right hand.) Also that's me. The fact that it is a globe probably explains why I was looking at it, but it's a vintage globe, and I'm pretty sure at the time of the photo I was looking for countries that don't exist any more.

Now, the reason I'm holding a globe in the middle of a street, though it is probably obvious, is that I was taking it down to the Fitzroy gardens to hang with by fishing line form this tree (http://www.flickr.com/photos/colourblind/3120545080/sizes/l/) (random Flickr link.)

I wish!

More acquaintances than friends. :D

A guy in our Vintage Motorcycle club in Seattle, Indian Jeff, had been in a horrific motorcycle accident in 1997; paralyzed with massive internal injuries. He had been one of the major vintage Indian mechanics in the US. One of the people that he rode with and built an Indian for was Peter Fonda.

Our club put together a big rally and fund raiser to help Jeff cover his medical bills and pad his bank account for future costs. I was on the committee that organized the rally and the fund-raiser afterward. Somebody contacted Peter and he dropped what he was doing and volunteered to ride in the rally to get media attention and auction off personal memorabilia. I was running one of the checkpoints during the rally and Peter made a point to touch base with all the organizers to thank them for helping Jeff. I got a handshake, a pat on the back, a picture and a smile!

hc3chpTUKQ8&feature=player_embedded

Jeff's accident occurred shortly after this show was filmed.

The checkered helmet next to Peter in the interview is the same on that he wore at the rally.

Jeff and his family kept up a website for a while, but he has lately dropped out of sight.

Considering that the likelihood of America getting public healthcare anytime soon is next to zero, I'd recommend that you back your own cake. Please share with me.

You should move to Canada then, we've been enjoying free cake for years! ;)

Why do you think I moved up to Minnesota? I can hear the Great White North calling my name, and one day I'll answer. :p

Honestly, Canada is looking better and better all the time. Especially when I'm reading about how education is getting fucked with a pineapple down here while we spend hundreds of billions on stupid wars.

Minnesota is a great way to train for our weather. :D

(Though, from what I hear, Minnesota is significantly colder than Toronto, and most of Southeastern Ontario, so there is that.)

Being Canadian is sweet: you get free healthcare, subsidised education, and, best of all, an air of pseudo-superiority when speaking with Americans. ;)

Oddly, nobody here calls it Canadian bacon. It's peameal or back bacon. Also its actually not that common, at least in Ontario, that is, outside of greasy spoon breakfast joints, which I should say, are full of win.

Wonder if, I could have used, more commas?

But, when it comes to funerals, it just sucks and tends to ruin all humour.

Orson Welles was not always a hippo. Hell, even John Goodman had a film trajectory where he went from human to walking hamhock.

I dont know, I always remember John Goodman being big. And its a real stretch calling Goodman a star ;)

I actually was going to mention Orson Welles, but frankly, didnt he pretty much commit suicide with his boozing and eating? Its not like he "let himself go", he pretty much did himself in. Truth told though, I dont know a ton about the man, just that he was a pretty jaded washed up human at the time he did Transformers.
