A very special Wednesday episode of In-Game Chat can be found here (http://ingamechat.net/audio/IGC20081119.mp3).

This show marks our first opportunity to deliver an interview following the loss of our live format and broadcast studio. Fielding guest callers from the industry and community alike has been a fundamental part of our show’s history, and it’s just about the only thing that’s more difficult with our new format and equipment. There was a bit of finger-crossing involved in getting things to work, and it was very nearly underscored by an unbroken stream of country music, but regardless of the overall quality, we think you’ll be pleased with the results. Clues to the caller’s identity are in the show title and bumper music, and we’ll talk about him in other places soon enough, so enjoy the interview.

Once the call is complete, we settle right in to the righteous business of yapping about games. The now-current X-Box experience is hours old, and we’re busying ourselves mastering new frames, bells and whistles, and whatever flaws and bugs the knowledge-base can put together. There have been a few problems on our end, but we’re still optimistic about the future here. We also feel pretty good about Left 4 Dead - no surprise, since it delivers on its promises and then some - as well the new Call of Duty - which really was a bit of a surprise, though apparently not to everyone. You can find the details, and more, just on the other side of the link. So thank you, as always, for listening.

I must know what that intro music is, it's awesome. I'm not even kidding.

I swear, we're going to make a "Guess the intro/outro music" contest. You guys love that stuff.

I'm not sure if this answers Dana's question or not, but unless you're paying a game that uses avatars or viewing your friends list, you don't see the Avatars (as far as I can tell). The only way is if you use your avatar as your Gamerpic, but you don't have to. I still have my gamerpic, so if you see my gamercard that's what you see. But then again, if you look up the profile on Xbox.com, you see the avatar.

Edit: Holy crap, there is an option to block people (everyone, including Friends) from seeing your online status on the Xbox.com page. I'm assuming that means you remain hidden unless you change that setting, very cool. No idea if it's on the console.

That's all true, but, and it was mentioned on the show, when you join a party...you show up on the friends list of everyone in that party.

One of the new privacy settings is to block online status from everyone, no one, or everyone but friends, that might do it. Same with your profile info.

Worth a try. I think that just shows if you are online or not to others. Would it still be in effect if you joined a party? Something to test out.

I do believe the intro music is "Schweine" by Glukoza, from GTA IV.

That guy would know. I think he sent that to us way back when during our GTA4 episode...he created that awesome opening for us.

Great interview with Jason Z. I love how much he almost bleeds Jack Nicholson during his "rent roman" video.

On the last show, you were asking about any problems w/ the new 360 interface. I had one issue so far with NXE that took a little help from tech support to fix. When I first started using NXE, I couldn't download any community games because of some rating issue. All my family settings were fully open (game content, videos). Turns out I had to adjust some of the privacy settings on my user profile to allow community game content. Bonus points to MS for responding within 24 hrs.
