A very fresh show that has not been sitting around is available at the following link (http://ingamechat.net/audio/IGC20120204.mp3).
When you consider the full five-year run of our show, the lateness of this particular episode doesn't seem quite so bad. Or am I wrong? We took some time here to examine our recording habits over the last several years, and it's clear that our frequency has plummeted, though the raw hourly output has only slightly decreased. I suppose it's fair then to predict that we'll eventually produce a single seventy-two-hour episode, in the peak rumor season of some year down the road. Maybe that can be the live convention show Scott's always going on about.
So, there are many thanks and congratulations inside, and some small amount of talking over the news. There are also some empty promises, some stupid ideas, and at least one really good story. But mostly there's thanks, even though a lot of it is subtext. Our feelings are best expressed in the dialog, though, so we'll leave you to it.

Glad to see you guys got it worked out.
Looking forward to hearing all the stuff I missed and just being able to sit and listen about games since I can't effing play them anymore these days....
Oh well, off to watch x-men, I'll just say right now, thanks for the kick ass day tomorrow, the 5 years in the past, and whatever the future amounts to. You all know what I think about the podcast, and I keep repeating it because it is the truth!
Anyways, thanks guys!

That was quite the bullet you dodged. I got anxious just listening to you guys describe it.
Also, best game in the past five years:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. :)
Certainly not the most polished game, but it's the one that's stuck with me the most, by a wide margin.

It has 14+2 Power circuitry, lower OC, something called "GPU Reactor", 3x3 OC Kits (again, whatever that is), and the dust-free fan tech stuff. Also, backplate...
Only issue... Yellow...
EDIT: Day 2 update...

This is the GPU Reactor:
Well, there exist two connectors and fastening systems, and the back plate is mounted something called "Reactor Core GPU", essentially a battery of tantalum capacitors to filter the current role that reaches the GPU. Why these components are moved on a removable plate is not had enough room on the PCB and inconvenience for the installation of other boards in the near slot. Although I could not remove it and see it up close, like this show Reactor Core GPU HD 7970 card installed on a Lightning, a functional platform

James, your "make it cheaper, make it faster, make it better" rant is one of your better ones (a theme you've riffed on before, I know) and I couldn't agree more. The AAA game industry has become bloated to an alarming degree and shows no signs of improving.
The good news is, the indie development scene [EDIT: I originally said the PC indie scene there, but it's happening on consoles too, just to a more restricted degree] is all over that shit, and has been for some time.
Speaking of which, play Bastion. ;)

I literally had tears in my eyes laughing at the "welp, FCC's gonna murder me" bit on the train, to the point where I'm sure someone was looking at me funny. Obviously, it wasn't funny at the time, but holy hell, was that well-told. I think the only other podcast moment that's done that to me was the Turkish Feber bit on the Giant Bombcast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94XxuNj1H80). Funny enough, that also played on the dawning horror/suffering of the hosts. Maybe I'm an asshole like that. ;)

Still working my way through the episode, but I have to call out one of the reasons I like the show. Sometimes, something is said that is so damn true, it provokes a physical response. So pithy and on the mark that even though you're listening alone in the car, you say out loud, "geez, right?"
"Shut up and make your game!" is one of those. I want to retroactively paste that rant into every conversation about Diablo 3 or Half Life 3, and pipe it into the very dreams and nightmares of devs and producers throughout the industry.

That game, & it's spawned brothers Clear Sky & Call of Prip, is very fucking immersive... Soo much, to a point where it's not possible to really explain how awesome it is to be caught in a three-way gunfight as it begins to thunderstorm, and you're literally a few km's from a safe place... But that's just it - NO WHERE in those games did I feel safe. Yes... Damn solid series. Buggy, but shit whatever - I felt like Strelok in the worst way. Metro-2033 didn't make me feel that way, neither did the new Fallouts for that matter...
