So my 360, for intensive purposes, died today. I knew I was getting close to it dying since my disc drive seemed to be going out but the thing that ends up being the final nail in the coffin is the video card. Playing through Left 4 Dead singleplayer, since no one was on, and it just dies. Argh, what a shitty day to die on.

Ok enough ranting. How do I make the thing Red Ring so that I can get a replacement, or should I just pony up the cash and buy an arcade and slap my hard drive on it?

Also is there a dead 360 thread yet, or will there be a new thread for each dead 360.

Wrap it in aluminium foil and bake the fucker for two hours.

Look up the CheapyD youtube video with him putting a towel around it.

So I tried the towel trick but xbox actually cut it self off when it got too hot. Also after further inspection I'm not totally sure that my video card is going out.

I don't have to use a towel. Just let it run overnight. That usually gets me a few days (or sometimes a week) of limping along until it goes out again.

Yeah, well. I had hoped to only limp along until Jasper boxes showed up... but no sign of them so far.

Mine died tonight from updating the NXE! It was my shitty 360 with the broken disc drive that wouldn't read games, so I'm happy. Hopefully I'll get a working system back. They're shipping me a box since I don't have access to a printer to print off a shipping label for another week or so (home recovering from surgery). Apparently they're shafting people and making them use their own boxes, but if you tell them you don't have a printer you should get a box in 3-5 days for free.

This is my first RRoD. I have another 360 (bought when the first one wouldn't read games anymore) so I'm still good to go. Yehaw!
