I'm picking up a copy for Ms. Claus. She even wants the Wii mic so she can talk to you loonies on here...or those who are playing this. Leave your friend code...Ms. Claus will be stalking you soon...

Skipping this one since I played it the first time when it was called Wild World.

This will probably come from Santa Clause (the regular colored one), so we won't be there right away. When we are on, though, I shall post in this thread.

Is there anything compelling about this one? I had the one on the Gamecube and played the CRAP out of Wild World. I have 2 mush sets if that tells you anything. If it's more of the same, I think I'm over it, which makes me kinda sad. Of course tomorrow or next week I will see it and have to get it. It's the gayest game ever. And I'm not talkin' teh ghey or whatnot. I mean, like 1930's happy gay.

Won't be picking it up at launch, but it will probably be a Christmas title. My wife and I both enjoyed messing around with Wild World, and we have some college friends who really enjoyed WW also who it'd be fun to play it online with.
Sad to hear that they really haven't innovated anything at all with a game that just cries out for experimentation, but oh well. There wasn't anything wrong with the experience as it was, it just could have been built on quite a bit more than it sounds like they have.

So far, here's what I noticed:
You can look like your Mii. Mrs. Kamalot loves this.
You can send mail/get mail from people in other towns, even if they aren't online.
The city is always accessible and has a number of shops
Global auction house for items
Quickly switch between tools using the D-Pad (actually VERY cool as it improves the flow of the game, making it much more natural)
Voice Chat
Your neighbors may move to your friend's town, likewise, people from your friends town may move to yours.
It actually feels like this kind of 'always connected' approach is what they were shooting for with the first game, but could never get right until every system came with an always-on WiFi connection. It isn't drastically different, but the more I play with the Mrs., the more little things I notice. For example, you can find mushrooms now. Pick them, sell them. Sometimes they turn into mushroom-themed furniture. No shooting things out of the sky, cause there isn't a second screen.
Overall, I'm really enjoying it. I find it very enjoyable to make a nice little town, and teach the residents cool French sayings.

Also new: Take a screen cap any time and save it to the SD card slot.

Animal Crossing offers a lot of ways to communicate.

Here's the new city, and me with a balloon.

I signed up for an affiliate program in which if you refer people to Play-Asia by a referral url, you can basically get savings towards future purchases. It didn't cost me anything, and I thought I'd try it out.
1. But this (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-affiliates-49-en.html) will explain it better than how I'm doing it.
2. And I just changed the selections.

That's cool. If you use Play-Asia a lot, the affiliate program can help you out. I'm just happy you changed the selections.

I know Infinite Line is staying there. Unless there's something else that catches my eye. ;)

If you didn't play on the DS, you will notice a lot of changes from the GameCube version. A number of little things have been improved.
Oh, and earlier I said there were no packages to shoot down. I was wrong.

I simply don't have a slingshot to shoot them down!

sigh......I wish I didn't want this game. I played the Gamecube one, and I liked it. However, open ended collection games just don't keep me going. My wife LUUUVS ChibiRobo on the cube. She spent forever trying to get all the stickers. The sad thing is, I know she would love this game, but if I watch HER play it, I'm going to want to play it myself. We need two Wii's! :)

Right now, I need to fight the Mrs. for the system. I've long considered getting 2 Wiis, for multiplayer titles like this and Kart. A second Wii isn't THAT expensive. Then again, I've also considered getting a second 360 for the same reason. Back in the day, Phantasy Star Online was THE game that convinced us we needed a second Cube so we could play online together.

Wait...are you saying that your Mrs. played PSO with you?? Do you guys have an "open" relationship??? Wait, I don't think my wife would approve... :p
I can never get my wife to play anything with a modicum of reflex skill. This comes from the woman who beat Super Mario World before I met her. She says that intimidate her because I get impatient or something. I dunno. I probably wasn't listening :D

The Mrs. never played games before we met. It has been an entertaining ride teaching her gaming, and constantly trying games I may not have otherwise been interested in.
In my life, playing WITH my family is probably the most fun I can have outside of sex. I'm always on the lookout for games that'll interest my wife and daughter. Animal Crossing almost always works. If they play more games, they don't mind if I play more games, and they are more likely to try other games with me.
I try and avoid competitive games, and stick to cooperative ones. It really helps them enjoy gaming more, instead of crushing them repeatedly at Power Stone, and doing the little victory dance around the living room... that does not make them want to play again.
Also, I find I need to shut and let them fail. The family learns a lot more form failing at some parts of a game instead of me telling them how to play.

This is a very astute observation. I've been gaming for 24 years, so not only am I able to recognize imminent failure and proper way out of it, I also hate failing and having to replay the same area again. This causes much stress for her during LittleBigPlanet, because I fly right through jumping puzzles. She ends up giving up and pops her character so I can reach the next spawn point. I need to take it back to '99, when my girlfriend would beat me at Soul Calibur and say "You just let me win, didn't you?" and I would lie and say "No way! You're getting really good at this!"
I am robbing my wife of her gaming growth. If I don't let her fail, or constantly bail her out because I'm tired of waiting, she'll never level up.

You got it Buster Brown! One thing I try and do is play only hard enough to make it challenging for the other players. Sure, I can crush my family at almost everything we play competitively. But where's the fun in that for ANYONE!? What is much more fun is to create good gaming DRAMA. The more they enjoy themselves, the more they'll play, and the better they'll get, and the more fun you'll have. :D

So you're saying, I should treat my family as if it were a Will Wright game. Perhaps I will demand to be called Dungeon Master around the house :) I don't have kids yet, but the thought of hearing "Dungeon Master, can I go play at Billy's house?" makes me feel all sorts of awesome.
