Hey, I didn't see a thread in this forum, so I thought I'd start one. I remember there was another FF thread somewhere else.
If we get the other thread moved here then cool.
Anyways, on to the task at hand: I'm in my Fantasy Championship game. Drew Brees is my resident monster, in our scoring system he's just been insane, second only to Aaron Rodgers.
Scoring system for RBs/WRs is thus:
TDs: 6pts for TDs 0-9yds, 9pts for 10-39yds, 12pts for 40+yds
Yardage Bonus: 5 pts for 80-99yds, 10pts for 100-199yds, 20pts for 200+yds
Note: yardage bonus is separately tabulated for rushing and receiving, so if a RB catches passes, he can double-up on yardage bonuses. Ex: RB rushes for 112 yards and receives for 82 yards, he'd get 15 points in yardage bonuses.
Also, we DOUBLE the TD points if a guy scores a TD in a way that's not his primary job. Examples: WR scores on a rushing end-around, RB catches a TD pass, or a RB throwing a TD pass.
These players have matchups that are just too good to sit:
WR Mike Wallace PIT v STL
WR Brandon Marshall MIA @ NE
WR Larry Fitzgerald ARI @ CIN
I can only start 5 RBs/WRs, so I have to sit one of the following guys:
RB Marshawn Lynch SEA v SF
RB Ahmad Bradshaw NYG v NYJ
WR Dwayne Bowe KC v OAK
Given the above scoring system, who would you sit? (All of these guys are playing at home.)
My thoughts here, spoilered so you can answer before seeing my reasoning:
Lynch has been insane, and even though SF's defense is amazing, I think Seattle NEEDS to get some run going and will challenge them. Seattle has been committed to the run since midyear and have improved greatly because of it. If anyone's gonna score the first rushing TD against them, it's gonna be Lynch.
Bradshaw is splitting time with Jacobs but has been working hard to get more touches. Also, with the WRs going up against Revis Island, I think the Giants are going to have to check-down to the RBs (and Jacobs has AWFUL pass-catching skills), and as I noted above, that could give Bradshaw a chance at a double-point TD score. Also, my opponent's QB is Eli Manning, which means that if Bradshaw DOES score a catching TD, I'd get twice as many points as Manning does for that TD.
Bowe is against the Raiders who apparently give up a lot of points to WRs. Calvin Johnson, of course, went absolutely NUTS last week (and is on my opponent's team - ACK), but Bowe isn't Johnson, and Orton isn't Stafford. I'm thinking that the Raiders will spend the entire week going over why Megatron was able to rape them, so they'll put added emphasis on stopping Bowe this week. I'm thinking I'm gonna sit Bowe.
