I checked Screen/Page/Song and didn't find a thread for this, so might as well start it here.
HBO 24/7: Road to the NHL Winter Classic is starting tonight, and I'm pumped. I don't get HBO myself, but I "borrowed" all four episodes last year, and holy shit, was it amazing. Great production, great narration, great music, great behind-the-scenes action, great buildup to the game. Just well-done in every regard. Given some of the shit-talking that had started with the opening promo (http://www.hbo.com/#/sports/24-7-flyers-rangers-road-to-the-nhl-winter-classic/video/winter-classic-preview.html/eNp9j8EKgkAQQBFBqF-oMjfpEGIEwUKHEKJDSNShQ6dBJ11YXdtdNY-+eaUZUdBpYHhvHjMO7NSW9nVa8ZjkOkfRGB4FMjd0M64U8bDaY 0IhZjSyLGeCpZGFwGZlVElOWx8LqYxmMF94S9iIhpT2Dpgnj8n gIDEGI8GkBOF2Byf+OK4gEKg1jxjsFVWc6ify1-91wfV9pz3rz-qls2dqsLu-GBRfkR7z3ph6RfJUQN1HoleEgU5REQPKkIs71U5oIg==) (Jody Shelley vs. Brandon Dubinsky), I'm really excited to see what they have in store.
Too bad Chris Pronger has a concussive virus right now: he'd be an absolute gold mine for these guys.

Loved the 1 episode I watched of last year's version. Never got around to watching them all.
Just going to add tonight's episode to the PVR (thank you Telus Optik TV remote web access).

Hate both teams, but I will watch this, enjoyed last years show too.
The behind the scenes stuff is great when you see players playing practical jokes on each other or having fun in general. Shows you they really do love the game and makes you appreciate it when you support the team. Would love it if the NHL would pick the Devils for this event, would be nice before Marty retires.

You should find the rest and watch them. I'll be watching as long as they keep making these.

First episode was pretty good. I always find it cool when they have the mics on while they're in the game and find out what's going on that you don't normally get to hear otherwise.

Yah, I love it when they are mic'd.
Was a good episode. Was funny to see the looks on the guys' faces when they entered the dressing room after the "goal celebration shooting thing" and then having them make fun of him later over dinner.
My wife couldn't stop laughing at a lot of the things during the show. Her brother made it decently far in the system and he always told a lot of the stories, but it's kind of a behind the scenes look at what he went through.

Bryzgalov was insane! Typical goalie lost in his own world. "The universe..."

I love the fact that the Leafs beat the Rangers and Torts got pissed at Brian Boyle, and reamed his team for being scared and shitting their pants because of Kessel ha ha..

You mean the Caps one.
On a serious note, it looks like this years will be just as good. I am actually enjoying something involving the Flyers.

I plan to watch the TV series and I will be at the game too. My ticket only cost $190; Stubhub is showing the cheapest tickets going for $365 a piece as of typing this

Haha, that's right. I didn't know about this last year, but when I saw this post, I acquired the Caps episodes. I think it's awesome that Ovie lives with his parents still.
I really fucking hate the Rangers. I really fucking hate Avery.
But, similar to you, this episode has kind of endeared the Flyers to me. Bryzgalov is simply hilarious, and I really like to watch Giroux. Too bad about his concussion :/.

Finally caught the first episode. As always really enjoy the mics while they play. Also being able to see the locker room fun they had with Anisimov's goal celebration.

He really does love the camera, doesn't he? My wife got disgusted watching him in his "model shoot".

So it looks like Torts is on pace to destroy Boudreaus record of F Bombs in this years edition of 24/7.
Awesome.

I actually thought Laviolette swore the most. Seems more casual with him.

For some reason, the music didn't hit with me like it did last year. Too much hip-hop, not enough cheesy 70s pop, I guess.
Ilya Bryzgalov is a fucking treasure. In an episode a little bit lacking in personality (granted, you have to establish the "characters"), he was a shining beacon. The NHL needs a camera crew to follow him around. Forever.
Also, I love Ryan Callahan's grandmother. I wish she was my grandmother. I love the mental image of a 95-year-old woman in a wheelchair and oxygen tank going over to give an NHL referee shit for a bad call.
This isn't my observation, but the credit-card game demonstrates how much of a fucking joke the $2,500 "maximum" fine is under the CBA, since that's how much Jeff Woywitka paid for dinner for six. Maximum should be a meaningful amount, or get rid of it and make it all suspensions.
I think the NHL 24/7 series should be mandatory viewing for all sports leagues, everywhere. In addition to the top-notch production, the writing manages to be reverent, but honest. It's a beautiful game, but a brutal one, and neither one is hidden from. It'd be so easy to sanitize the proceedings, but other than creatively obscuring the odd naked ass, I can't think of any punches pulled in five episodes over two seasons.

Bryzgalov once again has some comedic moments in this latest episode. Especially when they're sitting down for the team meal before the game.

No surprise that episode 2 was also fantastic. My favorite part was the 45 or so seconds of showing the refs talking about the game during an intermission in their locker room. They were comparing what they each saw with each other, discussing particular players by name and confirming with each other that a brutal check on the ice was a legal hit.
John Tortorella's segment about his constant outreach to the kid with the disability (muscular distrophy?) was tear jerking as well.

Yea, I thought the Refs segment was amazing to see their side view of things and how they actually discuss what went on with that hit. Plus it was a bit rough seeing Tororella screaming at the one ref for the hit, he was going nuts. But he seems like a good guy though.
I thought it was also neat to see a bit of the family side like with Dan Giradi's family.
