Frank mir always has good fights, I am expecting Jones to walk away with another win and I really hope tito loses, can he leave the UFC yet?

If Lyoto Machida is not ill as is being rumored, and MAN he looks it in the photo's for the last 2 days, AND he is filled with good tasting piss, as is his way. I think he has a chance. But if anything is against him, Jones has a ton of very difficult tools to get past and he Machida losses. But it's MMA, the shit is 100% unpredictable and I really like Machida.
Pre-Wreck Frank, wins easily, but he hasn't dazzled me, even in his wins, the way he used to but I see him winning anyway.
Tito...Ah Tito. Calling yourself the people's champ. Let the people name you then:)

I dunno, I just don't see Jones losing. Yes, it could happen. Yes, he's not perfect and does have some inexperience and holes...
But damn, the dude is freakishly fast, strong, and unlike a lot of fighters, will use ANYTHING to hit you with from ANY position. Too many guys will only knee in clinch, elbow on ground, uppercut while standing... Jones will throw all 3 of those things in the same combination =P

Agreed.
Thats why I had so many caveats to Machida winning hahahahaha.
I just want him to.
And I think, though not as fast, Machida is known for pretty insane attacks that come out of nowhere.
Again I just want him to:)

Jones over Machida
Big Nog over Mir (revenge served cold)
Little Nog over Tito
Hominick over The Zombie (should be a great fight)
I am not sure Soszynski can be beat by anyone outside of the top 5 in the weight class

Should be a great night of fights indeed. I would like to see both Nog brothers get a victory, as I've always loved their never quit attitude and ability to take stupid amounts of punishment.
And Bones Jones all the way. That kid is a phenom and I don't see anyone in the 185 division taking the belt from him anytime soon.

Go check again, I had to do a double take when dualshotty sent me the pic. The guy on the left is Tito.

Uhm if your talking to me I was joking along the lines of he looks nothing like normal compared to previous bouts.
Its a pretty big deal right now. Lots of rumors and speculation.

It's either UFC or the VGAs tonight. Guess what I'm watching? :D
And as much as I'd love to see Machida give Jones an actual challenge, I predict Jones is gonna toss him around like a little girl. In a battle of outside fighters, the one with the most reach will have the edge. It'll force Machida to take more chances, something Jones will take advantage of. Once on the ground, Jones has the physical tools to keep it there. Bones by TKO in the 3rd with brutal elbows.

Well that's that
Nice to know that if a hospital runs out of scalpels, they can call in Jones instead. That elbow cut cleaner than a knife. Also, I swear to god you could hear Big Nog's arm pop. Absolutely brutal.

Sadness. On your first point. THats now what I wanted to happen.

It does beg the question, just who can stand up against Jones in the LHW right now? At this rate, by the time 2012 is halfway through he'll have cut down everyone. You know what the scariest part is though? Jones is 24 and easily has another 15-20 years in the ring ahead of him if he wants it and really, the thought of Jones with veteran experience should scare the hell out of anyone in the division.

Jones just FUS ROH DAH'd the shit out of that dragon
Also, the butthurt on Sherdog right now is hilarious. They're saying all this stuff to try and discredit Jones, how Machida outstruck him and all this shit, but if I recall correctly, what started the sequence that finished Machida was a Jones left counter hook.
He's the real deal, and if he doesn't move to HW, he's gonna be the 205 champ for a good long while.

Well I do think Machida did very well so the opponent, if not Machida later in years, would have to have that kind of striking ability and ability to beat him to the punch. For every Jones, there is another Jones:) So, my assumption is that someone will come along.
I admit I LOVED the look on Jones face that first in between rounds. You could see he was like...WTF?!? But he did well shaking it off.

Jones showed a lot of poise after that 1st round, a round that Machida certainly won. And like CES said, he's only 24. He's got the physical gifts already, he's proven himself to be mentally tough, but he's only been training MMA for 4 years. Imagine what he's gonna look like 4 years from now.

EDIT: Figured out what you were saying.
But ya I have seen amazing fighters start out awesome and die out just a year or two later, or start out SUCKING for years and then being amazing:)
We will see. That's whats great about MMA. Champs to chumps in 1 fight, chumps to champs in the next. Always super interesting!
I still think this was my favorite undercard in awhile, hell my favorite PPV in awhile. Might be my favorite for 1-2 years actually.

So it was the arm then, I wasn't sure because of the camera angle but damn, that's nasty.

He should return fairly quickly relative to arm breaks, lucky it broke so cleanly and far enough from the elbow to minimize any joint damage. I would like to see some thoughts on whether or not the fight should hae been called when mir was "out" from what i saw their was no intelligent defense for a considerabel amount of time when his head was resting on the ground and nothing blocking his face.
To my (rather tired) eyes, he didn't look out of it, just stunned for a second or two. Same thing happened to Jones in round 1, you saw him wobble then shake it off.

With Joe Rogan yelling that he was out, and seeing no movement for at least 3 seconds I will say i would not have disagreed with the ref calling it. that said, either way hell of a comeback for mir.

No. It was fine. When your head is on the ground the GROUND is blocking your face, shots to the back of the head being illegal, you have only shots to the side of the face. Many times a ref won't call it until you see "rump fold" where the ass buckles down showing no torso control in the head down position. It was hard in that position for any ref to really see so you have to check for that. From what I remember, I will watch it again tonight, he didn't fully buckle but was VERY stunned. I am not a fan of stopping fights when someone is stunned because...well...broken arm.

I am by no means saying i wish it was called, I was simply trying to say mir should be thankful it wasnt called because had it been it wouldnt have been the worst stoppage i have seen.
EDIT: re watching it after the first or second hammer fist mir's arm goes limp for a second thats when herb steps in closer but then mir regains and moves his arm to posture up herb then stops moving in and just keeps observing.
etiher way an amazing comeback by mir.

Bummed that Machida lost.
The Mir/Nog fight was incredible. What a reversal of fortune...and Mir is the man at HW when it comes to BJJ. Amazing finish.

Even in the loss machida showed a lot of skill i spent the whole first round thinking, wow someone actually concerns jones and has a chance. I dont know that anyone else has much of a shot, i thin machida goes fights 1 or two more fights wins those and gets another shot.

Machida is 1-2 in his last 3 fights, with that lone win against a retiring Couture. To be fair, there are other LHWs ahead of him more deserving of a shot (namely, Hendo or Rashad/Davis). He'll need several more good wins before he's in title contention again. Maybe a rubber match with Shogun or something, I'd love to see that.
And while Machida did the best against Jones so far, I was more impressed that it only took Jones 5 minutes to figure Machida out. He looked pretty concerned going back to his corner, but once he came out for the 2nd, he was cutting off corners, and got the takedown and the elbows. I heard Greg Jackson telling Jones in his corner to fake the leg kick and come in with a strike when Machida tries to counter him, and that's exactly what he did with that superman punch that set up the winning choke.

Also, the butthurt in the Sherdog forums is just oh so delicious. I think nobody there likes Jones because he's destroyed 3 very popular fighters (including 2 PRIDE FC legends) in the span of 9 months. That's a whole lot of heartbreak.

Their are better overall fighters then machida, but I don't think they have the best chance against jones.

Yeah, saw that. Scary thing is Jones learns from every mistake, he was exposed as a kind of having a weakness to a fast targeted rush, he will work on that and have a great defense to it next time he fights. good thing I am a jones fan, i think I will be a happy fan for quite a while.
