I haven't bought anime in anything but a complete collection in so long... Remember when they would release them with 3 episodes per disc for $20? So much wasted money...
I think I figured out that it would cost over a grand to buy all of DBZ that way.

Yeah, I spent over 200 dollars collecting Yu Yu Hakusho as they released eight 15 episode sets or something like that, then practically as soon as they finished getting those out the door they actually had season sets (which there were only 4 of) released. I was pissed...

The Yu Yu Hakusho BDs are likely the only thing I'll pick up in this sale. I really shouldn't spend any more money but it's hard to resist picking up nearly the complete series, remastered, for $60.

Let me know how they are, if they're decent I might grab one or two seasons. A cheap redip could be nice, though I still never (re)watched Kenshin when the set I ordered came in, and I only watched one episode of Baccano, that show is damn weird though...

Amazon delivered the first season today and it looks fantastic. I read this (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/47331/yu-yu-hakusho-season-one/) review before I decided to jump in and I agree with it whole-heartedly. The relevant part:
Yu Yu Hakusho: Season One is presented on Blu-ray in Native High Definition with three 50 GB discs, each containing 8 to 10 episodes. The AVC 1080p transfers are stunning to behold. The series is presented in the original broadcast ratio of 1:33:1. This set represents the very best in quality transfers that fans can realistically expect to see for classic anime series. Because the show was made in the early 90's there was an opportunity to return to the original film sources and restore the series to the highest quality possible. Unlike recent series (where the animation is often done in SD) the animation has had an opportunity to look every bit as pristine and amazing as newly made anime series. While the series animation may look a bit older compared to recent series the quality is immensely high. One of the joys of Yu Yu Hakusho is undeniably the great animation that remains consistently well-done from start to finish. While these transfers show the occasional specks of dust or minor print damage these moments are few and far between. This is easily the best looking Blu-ray anime release in North America for any classic series available on the format (and it ranks as one of the finest examples, period). The upgrade from the original DVD releases (or the re-released season sets on DVD) is dramatic. The colors have received a dramatic boost and also appear to be more accurate with this set. Contrast is also much better and the overall look is improved with the sheer power of a natural High Definition image. Detail is remarkably sharper. Fans couldn't ask for a better release in the video department and this is one set guaranteed to please even the most demanding of viewers.

True, true.
I liked it. That's one of the best looking movies I've seen in ages. Good AMV.
My favorite AMV is for Soul Eater. It shows off that, despite the art style, Soul Eater can be seriously FUCKED. UP. Also, it's to Manson's redone version of "This Is Halloween." The off-ness of the song matches the off-ness of the clips.
Oh, and it won an award too :D

Any word on if/when the Last Exile Blu-Ray set is coming out? I just got an e-mail from Amazon.ca that they went ahead and cancelled my order because the thing isn't available anywhere. I know they had a date of May or June here in Canada for the thing (according to the Amazon.ca site) but I think the US site had it listed for much later in the year.
I just hope it does eventually come out.

Looked a little and all I found was that the Japanese release date is September 2011, so they likely had to push back the North American release even further. No product pages up on Amazon(.com) or Right Stuf.

Last Exile 2 second promo (via ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-08-13/last-exile/fam-the-silver-wing-2nd-promo-streamed)):
YiOYVepzy4M
Director Koichi Chigira, character designer Range Murata, and production designer Makoto Kobayashi are all returning from the first Last Exile anime, but the new person in charge of scripts is Kiyoko Yoshimura.
The story centers around Fam (Aki Toyosaki), a girl from an aerial family, "and her trusted navigator, Giselle, as they pilot their vanship, Vespa, through the free and peaceful skies." The new television series premiered at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July before TBS screened the first episode at the TBS Anime Festa event on Saturday.
The anime will premiere on television on the CBC, TBS, and Sun TV stations in Japan in October. Funimation licensed the anime for North America.

I'm with you. I looked at the lineup and just gave up. Figured I'd wait on UC. Though Natsume Yuujincho has a 3rd season. Was waiting on it to finish then I'd watch it on Crunchyroll. If you haven't seen it, it has a lot in common with Mushi Shi. Different in a few ways, like having a tiny bit of an over-arching plot, but still a pretty minimalistic episodic pace.

Gundm's production quality is fantastic. Plus it touches on philosophical questions on the nature of war, plus each faction has their own villains and heroes, which I've always liked cause it gave it a more realistic grounding. Not all the 'good guys' are good and all the 'bad guys' are bad.
I didn't like Seed or Wing. But Gundam Unicorn is definitely a few steps above harem shows. Harem shows basic draw is 1 guy with a lot of girls after him, does it get more shallower than that?

No, you are right about harem shows. I just feel like Gundam has been re-treading the same "what is the nature of war?" questions for quite some time. If you feel Unicorn is different, I'll give it a look.

Harem shows can be very run-of-the-mill, but still entertain. The problem is that some series can become run-of-the-mill in their own way; like Bleach, Naruto, and especially Dragon Ball.
Edit: Crap, now I sound like a snob. I won't avoid shows that seem run-of-the-mill as long as they entertain me. I just wanted to point out that there can be different definitions of r-o-t-m and we shouldn't point fingers at a single genre and say "that is the definition of run-of-the-mill." Unless we're talking high school slice-of-life.:p

Aw, now you've put me on the spot.:o Rosario+Vampire combines harem plus supernatural fish-out-of-water. Dual! Parallel Adventure combines harem plus mecha plus dimension hopping. Rosario has tons of T&A but it made me laugh. Dual is typical mecha action, but I liked the mecha designs and the dimension hopping provided a twist that I enjoyed.
bryan
09-28-2011, 01:02 AM
Both of those aren't bad, but they're not recent right? I never watched Rosario but I believe Dual was at least a decade or so ago, I was still in High School. I enjoyed it, it was kinder gentler version of EVA.

High School of the Dead is the most recent harem anime I've enjoyed. I know most here were turned off by the Torpedoes, but I did enjoy the zombie action.

Personally I can't stand amine where the boobs are bigger then the characters head. Its stupid and annoying. Sadly, its also very common. :(
I personally like a good harem show. More for the love story within then anything else, although the comedy can be good if the show isn't just rehashing old shit.
I thought, AMG, Love Hina / (Again), HS of the Dead, and Fate Stay Night were all very good.
My biggest problem with HS/Dead isn't so much the boobs is the completely stupid camera angles thrown in for panty shots. The angles aren't even remotely needed for 9/10th of the scenes.
Anyways, I'm suffering from a bad case of Steins;Gate withdrawl... anything good on?

F/SN is kinda harem. I was actually thinking more of the anime then the game. I actually just started the game a few days ago so I don't have any comment on that yet.
I called it harem because there are 3 main female characters who like Shirou, plus 1 loli thrown in for good measure. ;) Theres Saber, Rin, Sakura, and Ilya.
I gotta admit, having seen the anime first I'm having a hard time picturing Saber in an H-scene... Thankfully I don't have to worry about Ilya since theres no such storyline for her (or so I read.) Of course there wouldn't be any problem with an Ilya H-scene since it says right at the start of the game that all characters are over 18 years old. (rolls eyes)

Shuffle! is an odd one. It starts out as a light-hearted harem show, then goes a little dark, then suddenly decides it needs to emphasize its ecchi roots, then goes back to being mostly light-hearted again.
Sorry, Bryan. While Unicorn is really well animated and the mecha battles are cool to watch, I'm not seeing anything new that hasn't been seen in just about every other Gundam anime.

I gotta say, I really enjoyed Puella Magi. I just wish the anime had been longer. :)
Right from the 1st episode,
I knew that little rat was up to something. "Beware of friends baring gifts." Also I thought the origin of witches was pretty obvious but it fit well with the story."
I was actually really surprised when Mami died! I figured she'd get in trouble and the girls would save her, but I didn't expect what happened. I kept expecting them to wish her back to life. I actually liked her character, and really liked the music used during her fight scenes. Her introduction scene was really awesome too. I loved this shot.

Also, the song thats used is on the soundtrack.
I also watched Ano_Hi_Mita_Hana_no_Namae_o_Bokutachi_wa_Mada_Shir anai, which I really enjoyed. The characters were really well developed and mostly likable, as well as all completely broken as people. I found the ending quite moving.

I have to say, Crackle's dub of Rurouni Kenshin is frustrating for a couple reasons.
1) They labeled it as Samurai X, which is the prequel, and a very different show.
2) The dub they have going is disappointingly bad. This is confusing, as a great dub already exists (I know, I own it).
Also, I recently vintages the lucky star Anime, and really loved it. It was charming irreverence for 21 episodes, then ep 22 and the finale sucker punched you with emotion.

I didn't like Teddy's voice, I guess I found his English one to be perfect for the character. I also found myself noticing that there wasn't that all-knowing dialogue box always recounting every single thing like I was some sort of drooling idiot, that's a plus.

Though, from your comments, I assume you've not seen many of the Gundam's umpteenbillion spin-offs? If you liked Madoka, you might like Victory Gundam.
That's not a real recommendation. It's such a spiteful show. Everyone dies at the end but most of it is a set up for a much lighter series.

If you're gonna give me Shinji Akari in a Gundam, at least give him the psychological hang-ups as well. Make it interesting.
I've checked out a lot of Gundam spin-offs, which is probably why I find any new Gundam series boring. Anime is built on a foundation of tropes, but Gundam has to be one of the worst offenders. In my opinion, of course. I like mecha/giant robot shows, but Gundam just isn't for me.
The first episode of Persona 4 was downloading when I left for work this morning. Can't wait to check it out when I get home.

The angst about war was done way way before EVA man. In the original Gundam. Which sorta started the mecha explosion. Shinji isn't terribly original either, just that the creators dialed it up to 100 (out of 10)

Gundam just seems stale to me anymore. I can understand why the series has its fans, it's just not for me.
Shinji wasn't very original in the beginning, but I'd be hard-pressed to come up with many other characters that have his level of psychosis.

I don't mind that it's not for you. That's cool. The thing is, the settings and stories have ranged pretty far. From having chibi versions as children to Samurai in the Sengoku Era to a weird tournament fighter, etc. So the point of what your saying is more of what I find in contention. Just because I'm having a hard time thinking of a series that's had that much variety. The western ones like Wing and Seed were definitely more of the same, but that's such a small portion.
Now, the protagonist in Unicorn is easily one of the biggest offenders though. He's the biggest let down so far. You can clearly see the meddling of conglomerate chairmen in the story's direction. It's a shame, because a more solid story would have really shown off Unicorn's exceptional animation.

Sometimes I wonder if that was on purpose. In many mecha series, they try so hard to make the main character/pilot a likeable guy (kind, goofball, heart of gold, etc, etc.) even though he's wielding a 100-ton death machine and killing everything in his path. It's like Shinji was designed to be the antithesis of that stereotype.

I mis-interpreted what you meant by spin-off. I always figured Gundam shows like 00 and Char's Attack to be "spin-offs." I apologize for my ignorance.
One mecha show that I really enjoyed that seemed to try something different was Zegapain. It did have all the usual tropes, when the big plot-twist reveal came, I was genuinely surprised. Zegapain also featured something that many of the anime shows I've watched did not: a satisfying ending.

Honestly? I thought it was too soap opera and went a bit too unrealistic sci-fi. What I love about Gundam is that it tries to present it's tech in a very grounded manner. At the very least the mechs don't look too stylized, which was the opposite in Wing.

I'll grant it had its sappy moments. Anything involving Heero and Relena was usually meh. But Trowa Barton had a Gundam made of gatling guns that he did backflips in. It's hard to do backflips on the ground, but in a Gundam? It's controlled by a joystick and three buttons!

It appealed to me when I was younger, around 10 or so, and I have fond memories. Wanted to go back, watched half the first episode and decided to leave it in the nostalgia vault.
Really, Gundam 00 was a much, much better version of what Wing was trying to accomplish. Better animation, better writing, better set ups, better Gundams. The last one is obviously my preference.

The second batch of Bleach filler (Hey, I know we're halfway through a fight, but don't you want to hear THIS story about your favorite characters and something they did in an unspecified time before this? Too bad here it is LOL we'll finish the fight you were watching next year!) is what killed the show for me and made me switch to the manga. Which still drags along. Never thought I'd get tired of a fight that lasted about a year.
So to answer your questions, the filler probably isn't any good. :D

I'm honestly not sure what the story is. I watched the first episode and it had several characters that shouldn't have been there.
Dio dies in the Gulfstream or whatever they called it and the blurry woman in the Princess' flashback looks a lot like Dio's older sister. The man the "evil dude" is talking to in private also appears to be Dio's bodyguard from the first one. So I'm just outright confused.
On the other hand some of the things shown makes it seem like it's set a little while after the events of the first one. So, here's hoping that gets explained. It's really off-putting at the moment.

This one is a nearly direct retelling of Persona 4. So you really don't need any knowledge about the games.
The only part that might throw you is the pacing. It seems to make certain scene transitions with the expectation that you know they've gone to Junes and hopped in the TV without explicitly telling you.
So, if they switch scenes abruptly and they are now in the TV world, just assume they had lunch at Junes beforehand. :p

You might be able to get it to work if you use a proxy server. Just google it and you should find a few web sites. It just hides where in the world your from.
Also, on the topic of "where can I find..." I was thinking the other day that I should really try to watch Evangilion, or Neo Genesis E, or whatever. Which is my problem, I tried to look it up and I get a ton of different stuff. Does anyone know where I should start, and where I can find a subbed version to D/L?
Thanks!

For Neon Genesis you might want to try out the two new movies that have come out in the past few years, sadly I'm not sure when the last two movies are going to come out. They're really great eye candy and it's kind of a retelling of the original series but on anti-depressants so it's easier to swallow. If you can watch and enjoy those two movies then I would say give the original series a try, but its pretty messed up psychologically.

Basically, if you're just going to watch the original. You want to watch through to the last two episodes. Skip those. Then when you get there, watch End of Evangelion. Skip the other movie.
Just be prepared for angst, lots of it.

And lot's of really awesome battles imo. Eva is angsty as hell but hell did that anime deliver on the action when it did at times. Still love those angel designs.

Samurai Champloo on Blu-Ray is on sale on Amazon, or was yesterday.
I recently returned to Rurouni Kenshin, and finally finished it. I didn't care for the final Arc. The whole Feng Shui thing didn't do it for me. But the Shishio Arc was so good it's easy to forgive it.

I tend to like messed up, so I may take a small taste of the original. :)
Where do I start with the original series? Is that 1.11, or is that the first movie?
Also, hmm you probably can't answer this question very well without spoilers, but, why skip the last 2 episodes?

You skip the last two episodes simply because they ran out of money. They aren't really related to the story. End of Evangelion is the actual ending to the story. It's not that the last two episodes are bad story. It's that they aren't story at all.

Yeah, it was kind of a mindtrip in the series in the end. But for my money the end of Eva was nigh on uncomprehensible as well. I really didn't like it.
The new movies are a lot better at telling a story. But you'll miss out you don't watch the series first. Just start with series part 1.

AH , I feel better now, thanks.
Seriously though, I'm lost. I understand End of E is the "end" but what are:
Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone
Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone
Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance
Rebuild of Evangelion
Neon Genesis Evangelion TV
Neon Genesis Evangelion Directors Cut
Neon-Genesis-Evangelion Remastered (I know what "remastered" means but exactly what was remastered??)
Evangelion ReDeath Redux
Rebuild of Evangelion
Evangelion Death and Rebirth
Evangelion@School
I mean, seriously? How the fuck is anyone new suppose to make sense of all that? Its like a very bad, or very sick, joke... :(
I need to know what is what, and also, which would be the best quality of each. Such as, the original series, with all the original episodes, but maybe remastered? I dunno, I'm just guessing. I'm just so very confused.

Eva TV is the first. Start there. 24 epiodes
Remastered is the same, but remastered for dvd, I heard the dvd versions were fucked otherwise with weird skipping issues because of the transform to tape -> I even heard they lost the mastertapes but that may be hogwash. No clue how the dvd looks btw.
Rebuild is the combined name for the new movies, 1.11, 2.22, etc. They retell the story but it's an alternate version of the story, so it doesn't play out the same way. It's better imo, but because of it containing a lot of the 24 initial eps it's more fun to watch the series first. They do look great though.

After taking a few seasons off from watching any anime that was airing in Japan I've finally plunged back in this season, though that is mainly because of Persona 4 the Animation. Took me a while to catch back up with Last Exile since the first couple episodes weren't doing it for me like the original series but the last couple of episodes have been much better. Also been watching the new Gundam (it's ok, nothing groundbreaking) and Horizon. I will say that the plot in Horizon is moving ridiculously slow but it has its hooks in me. All in all, it seems to be a good fall season for anime fans.
Also found out that it looks like Eva 3.0 is set to release, in Japan, in the Fall of 2012.

I finally got around to watching Panty & Stocking. Pretty crash/funny shit. Except for ep 5, that was gross. :( The end of the last ep made me do a big "WTF..."
Lets see, what else.... I watched Blood-C, which was wayyy to slow for the first half of the show but a lot better in the 2nd half. I also watched Working!! up to s2 ep 4 or 5. Right now I'm trying to d/l Elfen Lied but theres not a lot of seeded torrents for older shows. I generally check to see which subber was considered the best for that show and then try to find that version or the next best one. Unfortunately the older the shows are the harder it is to find it.
I've d/l'd a fair bit of stuff this month so I'm waiting till my new month starts to watch Evangelion.

I don't watch a lot of TV anymore so I've been using this chance to catch up on shows I've missed over the years. Maybe I'm a lifer? I'm 35 and I'm still watching this stuff so I doubt I'll change anytime soon. ;)
Edit: I actually plan to buy one of these (http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=66258&vpn=NX-500&manufacture=Nixeus) once some reviews come out for it. Watching show on my TV while sitting on the couch will be a lot more relaxing then in front of the computer. This is suppose to be the first one that can play 10bit video files, which is pretty much what all the subbers are releasing these days. It doesn't come out till the middle of the month so I have a few more days to wait. :)

The new girl will probably get more airtime in 3.33 and 4.44. The way I see it, these rebuilds pull a FMA to FMA Brotherhood. Matching timeline until a big split and then it just becomes a totally other story. Which I think is great.

Well I always saw it as more of a sequel to the original series, but so far it is acting like more of a do-over and less of a sequel. I'm hopnig that will all change for the last two movies considering the ending of 2.0.

I really enjoyed the song and sequence that played when Rei merged with Lilith. Although returning to Earth at the very end with Asuka but not Rei (or to a lesser extent Misato) is what made it feel empty to me (I think).

The anime that left a big mark with me are generally the classics.
Kenshin was freaking amazing, some of the battles almost made me pump my fist in the air jumping up and down on the couch.
Last Exile was probably the finest of the lot that wasn't that battle oriented. It was just a beautiful experience which really felt like I was watching something special.
Fullmetal Alchemist and Brotherhood (both were really good but brotherhood is superior imo). Evangelion is a given for me as well. Geass is great.
I really enjoyed Scrapped Princess and Rahxephon as well. Bleach is my goto anime and a lot of my friends watched it so it was nice discussing it.
Movie wise. Akira, Venus Wars ( I must have watched that movie 30 times), Project A-ko, Howls Moving Castle, Mononoke, Spirited Away all got repeated viewings

So, the wife and I finished Brotherhood and liked it a lot. I did not enjoy the pacing for the final third of the series. I feel like characters were jumping around a little too much, and then the final battle dragged at times.
That said, the relationship between Ed and Al is one of the richest conceived.
I'd say it's not too far behind Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is damned high praise in my book. Avatar's pacing was flawless and its universe and magic better defined. But it never hit the depth and seriousness Brotherhood hit.
I think Ergo Proxy or Mushishi should be next.

I probably would have even bought K-On! on blu-ray, if it came out in one set at, say, $50. I mean, Breaking Bad seasons are like $40 retail, I can't really justify 4 x $25+.

Thats the thing, even Sentai Filmworks has been releasing complete season/series sets for around 50-60, they have super reasonable prices and some of them seem like quality series (I would defintely get Canaan and Angel Beats). I would've bought K-ON on DVD since I didn't feel it was necessary to have it in HD. But I would have paid more than what I did (their limited editions kinda sucked for G00 and Geass, they only ever came with manga -_-) for my DVDs just to have them in the same format when I downloaded them. This season seems pretty lacking. I'm currently watching Code G 2 also as well as sampling some other shows. I'll watch this last season of Zero since I watched the other 2 but I'm not all that optimistic. I saw Lagrange and Aquarion as well as Another and Kill me Baby. Out of those I can only say that I'll be watching Another. :( Oh I also saw the "pirate girl" ep 1 and Symphogear or whatever. I still think I'm missing 1 but I can't remember.
BTW I want to vote Kill me Baby as having the most annoying opening song ever.

A bit too early to tell for sure for me but I enjoyed the first episodes of Daily Lives of High School Boys and Rinne no Lagrange. I've yet to watch Moretsu Pirates but I'm not hopeful. Already dropped Symphogear, not sure what I thought I was downloading but it sure as hell wasn't that.
I'd trade them all to speed up the next season of Fate/Zero though. It's so much better than Stay/Night.

The last episode of Guilty Crown felt more like a mid-season cliffhanger than a season finale. I need to catch up on Mirai Nikki.
Brave 10 seems...cliched, but could be entertaining.

Finished Code Geass R2. I really enjoyed the series though I was a bit surprised by the end since I thought I had read somewhere that a season 3 was going to come eventually.

Question: If Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star) fought John McClane, Ken would undeniably win. But would John actually die?
Sorry, I just can't get that out of my head.

Code Geass started slow for me but turned into something great, and I thought the ending was pitch perfect. While I'd like to see other stories in that universe, I'm glad they ended the series before it could jump the shark.
Rinne no Lagrange is the mecha anime I've been waiting for. I like how they got the pilot's "self-doubt" issues out of the way by the 2nd episode.

I've been enjoying Rinne no Lagrange so far. Another is also turning out pretty interesting. Pirates has been a bit slow but I think that'll turn around now.

wait wait wait... isn't that the one where all those crazy people do all those crazy things, in the first episode... lol
What do you like about it? Most of the comments I've read about it says its random and crazy, and not in a good way.

It's random and crazy and not in a good way. I was disappointed in it. Symphogear is pretty fun and the wait for the next ep of Rinne is killing me. Not sure what to think of Another yet, it really hasn't grabbed me.

So, is it fan art or did they actual make a manga based on the Evas getting a band together?

It's gotta be fan art since it is mimicking K-ON! I thought it was funny...

The place that I read my manga on mentioned it on their facebook deal.
Here's the page stating it. (http://mangastream.com/read/bleach/36615093/6) Of course it is a translation, but I would assume it's accurate. Unless it's a ploy by the author...
Edit: Also an article from anime news network. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-02-01/tite-kubo-bleach-manga-to-enter-final-arc)

there is a thread in 2chan called "Settings that authors seem to have been forgotten about in Anime/Manga" and BLEACH, Naruto, and everything Togashi has so many examples its amazing.
But I guess it sucks when there are too many people involved because you work has become too famous, and becaue of that you can't end it even if you wanted to (TV contracts etc)

Naruto is not too bad tho. The manga is going at a decent clip. It's fights are decent still and any that last beyond a few chapters are the main guys. In Bleach, EVERYONE had a fight in the Fake Karakura Arc and it got old. Seriously the fighting went on for a year straight or something. I was thinking the saving grace would be to see it all animated, but no they skimped on that too.

The last arc ran about a year whereas the previous either ran for a hell of a lot longer than that. Kubo knows how to pointlessly draw out arcs when he wants to.
Also seeing as this last arc seems to be about a war with Quincies, well that's the current rumor, it could be interesting.

Yeah I'm hoping this being the final arc we'll see Kenpachi and Kyoraku's bankai. I don't know if Kubo can come up with anything cool tho - the finale to the last arc was just a giant Getsugo.

Bleach really lost steam quickly after the Soul Society arc. I don't know why, but I never really cared about anything that occurred afterward.

It's unfortunate, but I have no doubt there will be several alternatives by the time next week's chapters are out. Most of these places seem to live and die based on the big 3's availability.
So I managed to kick depression in the ass and finally enjoy something once again. This past week I've watched all of Steins;Gate and Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica and both were excellent. I avoided Madoka for a long time because of the way it looks but I'm glad I finally gave it a chance. It's only 12 episodes and it is not your standard magical girl anime. It's...much darker. Well worth a look.

The Soul Society Arc was much much deeper than anything else in the series. Sure, you had Ichigo running around fighting guys and powering up, and that's fine, but there were all these other characters drawing their own lines and doing interesting things, with a murder mystery and a lot of politics going on.
Everything else, well mostly everything else since then has been very one-dimensional. There's been the occasional bit of interest, (mostly in flashbacks) but generally it's a whole lot of nothing. Now, people still read it because there's really enough loose threads to make a VERY interesting story out of, and people want to see them resolved, but again, after all this time there's nothing.
The Aizen arc was way way way way too long. WAY too long. And with little payoff on top of that.
What exactly IS Ichigo? What's with his father? What's with Urahara? Why is Soul Society so worried about Ichigo? What's with the Soul King?
There's a lot there. And there's a good chance that those threads may never be resolved. Just horrible.

What's with Urahara?
I kinda feel they did do that one though.
I enjoyed Bleach a lot, but stopped watching this last year. The worst arc def. was the Bound arc to me. It was so not relevant and ugly. I enjoyed the whole Aizen/Arrancar stuff immensly. I don't care if it took that long, some of the fights were amazing. I loved how they squared up Shinigami with Arrancar and have them pull trick after trick out of their sleave. Kenpachi / Noittra still counts as one of the best fights outside of Kenshin for me.
After that it never became interesting enough again.
