I hear ya, I had to sell GH:WT to knock the money I owed down to a reasonable $13, then I swiped the debit card to pay off the rest.

Also, have you thought about putting the Wii up on Ebay? A freind of mine suggested doing that, and said he saw Wii's going for $700-$1000 last December!
I'm personally thinking about doing that some time after December the first. And if I make enough cash I could afford a new Wii later as well as a PS3.

I'm in no way a PC fanboy - my current machine has a shitty old Radeon x600 in it - but holy crap it runs great on that video card. I'm quite impressed.

Last time I checked PC live was free. Also I don't know if this will allow PC and 360 games will be compatible like Shadowrun.

Splitscreen is going to be officially added to the PC Version later, however with a few minor tweaks to the console you can get it working (at least in the demo) now.

How can you forget the most important PC Pro: Additional Content!

Whether it's user-made or official, the PC version will end up having ten times the number of maps as the 360 version within a year and who knows what else. More weapons? New boss zombies? Additional modes?

For $10 less you get a whole lot more content.

FYI, this game is pure awesome with a side of win. I liked the demo but it's not until you start going through the different environments and dealing with whatever the director throws at you that you really experience the magic. Co-op at its finest.

I can't see buying any Valve game on the console. It's clear that Valve doesn't think highly of them, and I can't see L4D's support being much better than TF2's was as far as added content and patches and such.

L4D IS the most consoletastic game Valve's ever released though, even the interface on PC feels like UT3 or R6Vegas all over again, so maybe they'll surprise me.

The one advantage I can see to getting it on the console, is that'll you'll be able to find it used for cheap probably well before Valve discounts it, which is a plus, because the game really isn't worth $50-60.

Since the 360 supports split screen, this looks like a 360 purchase for me (even when the PC supports it, I'd rather have the bigger screen and two controllers to use).

Also I had a lot of fun with Kiel, Shunoshi and SilentDeath playing the demo. Surprisingly, Backseat Killer was watching and was very bored. I didn't realize at the time that she could have joined us :(

It is a lot more fun with real people, especially versus mode. We had a full room tonight and it was great (minus for one team getting a tank spawn that the other one didn't get *grumble*)

I remember when I said that I'd be getting the 360 version. That won't be happening, at least not right away. I'm going to be building a new PC in a few months, and I'd prefer to play L4D there. However, if Valve actually updates the 360 version of L4D consistently, as they failed to do with TF2, I'll be picking up the 360 version down the line.

I feel the same way. I kind of just tossed it into my pile of construction material so I didn't really care, but it feels like it should have sold for $40 on the 360 and $30 on the PC. I'd have been willing to buy it for my crappy PC if it was only $30, but $45-50 just seems extravagant.

I mean, it's a very cool and fun game but quite pricey for what it is.

It seems the 360 demo may be gone as well. I tried to download it Monday, unfortunately I downloaded the NXE first. Apparently they didn't list the demo in the marketplace itself, but you accessed it through banner ads. I know the ads still existed on a pre-NXE system Monday. Unfortunately, they weren't carried over to the NXE.

I think the aiming is pretty tight, I used pistols only for akimbo assassin last night and had 28% accuracy. Not bad considering how many shots I fired, 57 friendly fire incidents though. :D I went crazy with the unlimited ammo.

I was surprised by how fun it was, I also had mad headshots. You can really mow down a horde rushing through a door with 2 full clips akimbo style. Still, I loves my shotgun.

I alternate between the shotgun and the hunting rifle. In the campaign it really pays off if one person uses the rifle. It's great going into the top of a big room or across the rooftops and being able to kill every zed you see and use almost no ammo. Also, in a close hallway a horde is destroyed by the rifle since it can pierce a ton of guys.

I know, I played the demo non-stop, so it's no surprise how awesome and addictive this is. I also love how if you die in the rescue sequence at the end *spoiler*your gamertag appears in the credits under "In loving memory"

And I agree the defensive stands and the final fights at the safe houses and final rescues are intense! For example, during one of my first times through No Mercy, we made it to the rescue point, and stood our ground as wave after wave of relentless zombies attacked us.
Then as the helicopter landed, we make a mad dash for the helicopter, and in true Hollywood fashion, my character dies. First a pack of zombies surround me and start tearing me apart, then a smoker grabs me with it's tongue and incapacitates me. Then a Tank rumbles in and finishes me off with two overhead double handed smashes.
The funny part is, I was playing as Louis. All I could think was the black guy always dies first in the movies. :D

i like the automatic shotgun.... ive used the assault and the sub and found that i just dont kill as much.... even though i hemerage ammo like no tomorrow with the A.shotty. Am i the only one kinda disappointed in the number of weapons though....

On pc at least the way to get a lot of kills with the AR is to not crouch when everybody else is crouching. You can leave the crosshairs at head level and then just pan back and forth headshotting all the incoming zombies.

Yeah that was a pretty good game, I didn't find any parts of that level to be too frustrating. I think right now advanced is the difficulty I prefer to play on. Expert is just too frustrating unless the team is really good at staying out of each others lines of fire and what not. Which I'm not.

OK, the "man vs. tank" achievement is giving me a headache. I'll start a solo campaign on expert, gun down the other three survivors, gear up, select "call for vote" and change the difficulty to easy, and head out of the safe room. Only to have one of the following things happen:

1) A smoker will constrict me with it's super cheap ass tongue.

2) A hunter will pounce on me and pin me.

3) I'll find a Tank, only to have it bludgeon me to death.

My frustration level with this achievement is at critical mass, so I've decided to give it a rest and just play some online stuff and have fun... and pop a few Aspirins.

I believe that they need a gold account signed in as the second person to hear over the mic. As for a through the speakers voice, there should be an option. I know there was one before the NXE, but I can't say for sure if it still is an option.

Oh, I'm just letting the achievements roll in as they come. I'm not likely going to try to get some of the crazier ones, what with the fact that there was that news story the other day about some of the achievements that NOBODY has managed to get yet.

I mean, for a game to be out close to 2 weeks and there being achievements still open... yeep!

That particular achievement isn't being reported correctly on the PC version that the list (http://www.steampowered.com/status/l4d/) is based on. If I view my achievements in game, I see that it's unlocked, but it doesn't show up in my steam profile.

I'm surprised that 25% of players don't have a single achievement, and most people haven't even completed an entire campaign.

finally got the Man vs. Tank achievement. On my first try. On the fourth chapter of the Dead Air campaign. I was shocked at how simply it came after busting my ass, and failing so many times. Life's funny like that.

I was so close to getting the Unbreakable and Stomach Upset achievements on the weekend. But the stupid AI player screwed me over in the final show down on Deathtoll. You can't stop them from healing you once they start.

Well I got the upset stomach achievement while trying to get safety first last night on Blood Harvest on easy with 3 bots. I also walked away with unbreakable but I ended up with one friendly fire incident. I don't remember doing it but I think once I might have shot and Zoey walked in front of me. There was no "DON'T SHOOT YOUR FRIENDS!!" popup but I imagine you don't always get one.

Still need to get through an expert campaign but it seems they take a big commitment of time. Maybe I can't even take the pressure, I mean one missed shell and teammates drop from 80 health to 8.

Yep we ran into that one. Just make sure to manually pick the same team. Still it was a silly thing for Valve to overlook.

Thanks for joining! I felt kind of bad because I'm sort of terrible at it. The funny thing is that we weren't even playing on Expert; we were on Advanced. I played on Normal before that, and I think there's a huge difficulty-difference between Normal and Advanced.

What's funny is that we always had trouble with the AI and health packs. Like, sometimes he would take them before we could have the chance and start healing us (sometimes when we didn't necessarily want him to), and other times, we had trouble trying to get him to pick up the health pack before we left the room. It was kind of silly.

Great times the other night. Some of the best moments included Kiel jumping through the elevator as the hunter door as it was closing and practically closed on his ankle, we then knocked one of the humans off the building to their doom, I used a forklift as cover and weaponry with the Tank to demolish an entire team, and we managed to hold a human team to only two points literally completing 2% distance of the level and that was merely because one guy ran, two of the others died inside the safe room the other ran the opposite way!

Can anyone clarify for me, if a hunter has a survivor pinned and I unload on them with my auto shotgun, will I harm the survivor or just the hunter? Same question for a survivor who is being constricted or one who is already constricted, will I harm them with friendly fire?

I think if they are pinned or constricted, there is no friendly fire...just make sure to stop shooting after you free them ;)

Hard to pin a genre on it. We definitely lean towards some pretty heavy metal, but it's pretty experimental. The other guitarist was primarily a folk guitarist before playing with us...so his influences shape the sound in an interesting way. I dig it. At some point, I could see us playing Orlando, but it'll mostly be South Florida.

Joey and I sometimes pick our characters before inviting anyone to the lobby so we get to choose. Actually... usually we just do that when Saru is joining because we know Zoey and Louis are his primary choices. It's more for humor than anything else. I don't mind Bill. :p

I actually got this achievement my first time I played. I didn't even realize it was an achievement. I only did pistols since it was the only gun I was reliable with :). So if you see me playing with dual pistols...that's why...

I agree with this. If I deliberately pick a character I invariably choose Louis, but I end up enjoying Francis's lines the most when I do play as him.

Nope, Spigot and I would be standing right next to each other and 9 times out of 10 the Smoker would grab him. They must have a taste for Canadian cuisine.

Bill was funny because during the finale I was pretty much keeping him alive as zombie bait, we were all gleefuly abandoning his ass when the plane came (acceptable losses and all that), and damn if that son of a bitch didn't come limping on the plane with the entire horde behind him and one point of health to his name.

What probably sealed it for me was when I was in the offices in the airport and walked by 'GOD IS DEAD' spray-painted on a wall and Zoey shouted "Oh no....the zombies killed God!"

So yeah, any time anyone sees me on LIVE shoot me an invite. Don't even worry about what I'm playing at the time, chances are I'll happily abandon it for some hot zed action.

Trust me on the computer players. If you ever play Blood Harvest on verses you will see what I mean. Damn computers see through the trees. *grumble grumble*

I agree with Kielaran. The bots are great at killing things. They're not always great at doing what you want them to do, but they usually get more kills than I do. :p

You don't need a gold account for the second account. You can sign the second person in as a guest (just like Halo 3), but they cannot hear mic chatter.

All the dedicated servers that were hosting the demo were switched over to host instances of the full game. The PC demo was disabled too.

I rented it last weekend and played some single player to get used to the controls. Its a great game but no where near as good as the pc version.

The 360 online was great when i got into a game but otherwise terrible trying to find a game. This was mainly due to hosts not starting up the game. Out of the 10 games I joined 8 of the hosts were set to away with no mic plugged in. I gave each game 5 minute wait and saw many players join in and out when they got tired of waiting.

For once i favor pc over console.

Got to play versus for the first time last night. I think I actually prefer to play as the infected. The Boomer was so much fun. I'd wait around a corner for an opening, usually biding my time for a distraction. Once I saw my opening I'd pop out, vomit, and jump back. That worked for a good ten minutes. It's a thrill following the running horde of zombies as they barraged the survivors inside a building. Too bad my team couldn't coordinate. We only won a single match, but that 1 time we worked together was awesome.

I like the Hunter, but it's tough when a team is sticking close together. It seems I was either the Boomer or Hunter. I only spawned as a Smoker one time so I didn't get to experiment much with that play type. Bummer as that was the one I was most interested in playing. Also, good work Food (among others) as I read your write-up(s) prior to playing. Lot of useful tips in the PC section. I did figure some stuff out from watching the team we were playing. Basically, if you're a Hunter be careful if you pounce from the front as a well placed melee can knock you out of the animation and stun you for a split second (sorry if that has already been covered).

Have you tried single player with just the bots as your teammates? My first playthrough I did this just to get used to the game. Somehow the bots kept me alive an I actually finished the movie alive. And I used the pistols. Not for any macho reason. It was the only gun I was able to control with any regularity. Just some advice from a fellow "noob".

Now if we can lure Spigot out from playing P4, maybe he'll help us out to play:D

I grabbed a copy of this yesterday on a whim. While I hadn't been too fussed on the demo I'm really liking the whole game. Played a bit of single player last night to get a better feel for the maps and am ready, folks permiting, to slow down a bunch of you and waste all the survivor resources by having to be rescued after waking up every single witch.

When I read "lunch," for a second I thought it was a typo of "launch" because I'm so used to hearing someone say he's going to get something "at launch." Then I realized that doesn't make any sense and that you really did mean lunch.

Anyway, yeah, I always have a few people playing L4D on my list (ask Kielaran--he's always playing with CoGers). I still play it a lot, too. I won't be playing online this weekend because I'm visiting family, but I'm sure you'll find tons of CoGers to play with.

Yea man, Christmas Eve is one of the most fun days of the year for our fam. Getting everybody together with some drinks in us always produces some interesting results. Add in Rock Band, and it's a whole other story.
