I accepted a quest yesterday and literally stumbled into the Arathi Basin BG (well, I stumbled into Hammerfall on the way to Wetlands to worked on Herbalism). I realized my Call to Arms quest was a BG in Hammerfall so I figured I'd try it out. At level 47 I had never tried it. I've been having a lot of fun just leveling my Warlock, but BGs are a whole new level of fun. Today I had to force myself to work on leveling up and not get sucked into BGs all day. It reminded me of all those hours I played multiplayer Unreal Tournament or Quake 3. I need to be careful. :)

Fun for about a day dude, if that. I can picture some soccer mom who had never played CTF, checkpoint control, or king of the hill, getting into it, but not me or anyone who has played an multiplayer game in the last 15 years.

Back when I played WoW, I found them fun, and I play lots of multiplayer games.
There is room for more than just FPS's and RTS's in competitive multiplayer.
I didn't get addicted to it or anything, but I found it to be fun, and a nice change of pace from the rest of WoW.

I still shiver when I think about rep-grinding AV long enough to get all the ghetto-epics for my pally.
BGs are fun with the right attitude, I suppose. Just don't let them turn into work.

Three
I also leveled mining and engineering from Zero when I was 68.
I think my experience was tempered by the scores of people, myself included, just grinding for arena gear. I needed marks, not fun, not companionship.

For me it's just a nice diversion from leveling my character. I rotate from leveling my character to leveling herbalism and inscription (which I started last week) for money. Inscription has made me a ton of gold creating glyphs and I'm only at 105 (155 in herbalism).
I don't see myself getting addicted to BGs anymore than I'm addicted to WoW in general. They're just fun diversions. Anything to break up the occasional boredom of leveling my main is a good thing.

Consider this conundrum:
In BC I never did a single instance, normal or heroic
I did not raid
I did not spend all my time in the arena
I spent most of my time in BG's.
Battlegrounds were the reason I started playing WoW at launch(before an honor system even existed....). I got up to rank 10 in the old pvp system and thank the gods every day that we no longer live with that pvp system....
I find battlegrounds fun for the same reason I enjoyed unreal tournament, and Quake 3. The games are always slightly different and provide a fun experience. The problem is always that people get so focused on the gear that they forget you're supposed to be having fun. They just see this giant treadmill in front of them and get discouraged/mad.
so yes, it's fine to enjoy BG's dont listen to the haters :P

I don't play the game trying to get the best gear anyway. I could tell the few games I played that a few of the people were taking it way too seriously. But I play it like I played UT and Q3. I just run around trying to help the team and kill people. I wasn't even thinking about the honor points I was getting. It was cool to think I might get a cool piece of armor or something eventually, but it wasn't driving my play. I was just enjoying the fun of playing against other people. They're far more unpredictable than an NPC, which is what makes it fun.

I loved BGs and grew to hate WoW. I can't wait until LotR: Conquest comes out.

Strand of the Ancients, but I haven't tried it yet. New world PVP BG zone, too.
I was never interested in BGs but decided to try WSG one day and fell in love. After that, it was AB and I never looked back. I hate AV, though 8-(. My Horde Battlegroup never wins, and we are always outnumbered.

Dude, against the Horde on AV is a tough fight. Mainly cause those alliance chumps I get stuck with don't know how to go for end game. Everyone wants to bum rush folks instead of pulling guard by guard. :o
All BGs were hard for Alliance. I just loved when people actually listened to me. Took me a while to get the name Xerionus on my server to be worth a damn, but I like to think people wondered what happened to that one warrior after I left. You tell people to fight out in the open on WSG and everyone thinks I'm crazy. But trying to fight in those hallways was balls. And once they got away with the flag that was it.

Yeah, for my WoW experience, I level toons. I got around 8 70s and I'm slowly starting to get them to 80. I did a bit of raiding(Kara, ZA) Not much. I love the BGs because there will be a lot of times I'll get home and just want to kill stuff. So I pop onto the BGs and just go after Horde and kill them..all :D

Get this, all of my armor in WoW once I hit level 50 was funded by others giving it too me in exchange for getting me to tank in their raids. It helped me level as well.
Boy did I dread raids.

Arathi Basin and me just clicked. I pugged the hell out of that place. I wish I had kept a lifetime win/loss count.
