So who is being affected by these fires? I know some of you are fellow SoCalians. For me, I have family and friends who live right next to the fires, some of them had to be evacuated because the smoke was either way to thick to actually breath or the fire was getting too close. My house is relatively safe, but I live in Fullerton near a nature reserve close to FJC and FU, if the winds get really high and carries some embers over there I might have to leave. The atual fire is about 2, 3 miles away but still, you never know with fires. I'm closer to the Brea fire.

Good luck, man. I hope the fires don't end up affecting you. Your right in the thick of it, too. I live out in Camarillo, so I'm relatively safe. Its kinda sad, but I'm starting to get used to the smell of fire in the air. At least it isn't raining ash this time.

These fires seem to get more and more frequent and the weather hasn't helped in the least. We got rain on Halloween and a cold front right after, but that lasted what...a whole week?

I've heard that it is actually a consequence of civilized man extinguishing the fires. Apparently the natural way of things is for a fire to come in and clear out an area every now and then. Since humans live there now, we extinguish them, and that leads to a build-up of underbrush, which only leads to more (and more dangerous) fires.

These fires don't even get close to me, but the smoke from the second fire in Sylmar this year has been spreading more smoke, and lots of ash to the west end of the San Fernando Valley. Way worse than the Chatsworth fire earlier. There is a constant smell of wood burning, alot like someone is smoking meat on a 24/7 basis. But it's also a choking/clogging smoke. I'm pretty sure that at some point, classes will be canceled because of the smoke if this fire lasts longer.

The nature reserve is on top of Fullerton Hill, one of the highest points around OC so you can see a whole lot from there. Yesterday I was up there, It's about a mile from the 57, and you can see all the way to the 91 where the 241 meets, so that's like 8 or 9 miles out, but yesterday you couldn't even see past the 57 freeway. The smoke was extremely thick.

I'll upload some pictures of what I saw.
