We don't need them, and they don't help. So dump them. Or maybe, leave them under the profile view instead of under each post. We don't need any post padding instead of interesting posts.

Titles too. Or have custom titles that you eventually earn, from the community.

While an interesting idea, I rather see avatars go. I doubt either are going to happen :).

I like avatars as long as they stay small and unanimated. I also don't mind post counts, colored names, etc. Just keep big images out of signatures. I can't stand gigantic signatures.

I've never much understood the fetish some folks have over post counts (although I think they give a general, albeit vague, indication of a person's involvement in the site, and so should be available somewhere), but I fucking hate graphical signatures. Animated avatars run a close second.

I'm addicted to post counts. It's sad but true.

I like the small avatars, as long as they are NOT ANIMATED!

No giant signatures either.

Sites like Gaygamer are pretty much unreadable because of crap like giant signatures. I guess that site is just poorly laid out in general, but the sigs make it so much worse.

You can disable them so you don't see them in the user cp I believe.

I agree. It's like experience points...only you don't level up.

The small, non-animated avatars are nice. It gives each user a little bit of personality without going overboard.

Signatures are the same, as long as they aren't so large that they overwhelm the posts.

So...yeah...what Mr. Gnome said.

I know, I'm probably going to do this for when I browse the site at work. Makes it look a lot less non-work related if someone walks up behind me ;).

I've rarely seen anyone actually farming for posts on EvAv, and I doubt we'll see it much here. Plus, I think that removing post counts isn't going to really affect people's posting styles much.

Personally I think post counts dont really add anything, but I'm not sure they detract either. The 10 character minimum for posting removes a lot of useless replies, like "LOL".

I think avatars are fine, I dont think sigs should ever contain images though.

Burn post count. I don't want people to see how much free time i have posting.

I don't care about post count, and I disable sigs, but I love avatars... its so much quicker to identify a poster by. Text doesn't really work in your peripheral vision like an avatar does.

I totally agree, ditch the post cost, replace them with a jpg of an actual e-penis that would gradually increase in size as you posted until you were rocking a huge foot-long hawg.

I say we get rid of post counts, avatars, sigs, and usernames/usertitles. Just leave the space to the left blank...entirely!

Let's Borg our way to the future! Assimilation! :)

I find it ironic that under my username it says "Terran." That's...ugh. Bad memories. ;)

So change it, Johan. Either with your prolific posting (bumping you to Colonist) or just, ya know... customize it yourself in the User CP.

Also, welcome back, ya bastard!

I completely agree. I mean to me it's a complete non issue. I (to some extent) will listen to post counts on more established sites, as it can become an indicator if a site has been around for a year or more. Of course quality of post is a lot more of an indicator. I also don't mind non-animated avatars, although animated avatars can become distracting after a while. Huge, image filled sigs are annoying as hell.

Without post counts, how would the people that disagree with my opinions demonstrate to me that they are much wiser and more in-the-know about the gaming world than I, based on how there incredible number of posts dwarfs my own post count in much the same way Jupiter, for example, compares against Earth's moon?

Post counts are a well-established barometer for intelligence on this and all internet forums, and therefore cannot be taken away.

For those with much higher post counts than me, I need not explain that this is written as sarcasm. I'm just putting this note down here for the 10-20 post idiot population.
