I just got a PSP recently while on a road trip and its awesome but since I'm going to be spending alot of time traveling for work again I need to get some new games and am looking for suggestions, preferable something that can be found cheap. Right now I have:
star wars battlefront
puzzlequest
xmen legends 2

I hope you like Strategy RPGs. You can take your pick: FF Tactics, Jeanne, Wild Arms, Disgaea. Other puzzle-types are: Lumines, Meteos, Patapon and LocoRoco. Beyond that: God of War, Hot Shots and Killzone, if that stuff appeals to you.
And that's it.
To be honest, now's not a great time (http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/releases.html?limiter=1) to be investing in a PSP.

Silent Hill Origins is on PS2 now but if you don't have a PS2 and want to play a Silent Hill game it is really quite good.
FF7 Crisis Core is a better FF7 game than the original FF7 IMO. Fantastic. Great visuals.
Jeanne D'Arc, SJRPG, already recommended, but excellent, probably the best strategy JRPG on the PSP.

You can find Crush real cheap. A great and very different "puzzle" game.

The Wipeout games are worth checking out if you like futuristic racing games at all.

Important note: Meteos is a DS game (http://www.wii-search.net/images/Meteos2.jpg).

Man, I feel like starting up a "I just got a PS3" thread and a "My 360 just RRoD'D" thread.
Oh, those are already covered. God, I hate these threads.

I'm going to be buying a PSP-2000 off of a fellow CoGer in the near future, so I've been making a list of games I might be interested in. Keep in mind that not all of these games have reviewed well, so I'd advise looking into them yourself since I have no first-hand experience with any of them:
God of War: Chains of Olympus
GTA: Vice City Stories
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Secret Agent Clank
Metal Slug Anthology
Parodius Portable
Space Invaders Extreme
Guilty Gear Judgment
Darkstalkers: The Chaos Tower
Power Stone Collection
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
LocoRoco
Gurumin
Tokobot
Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X
Lumines 1/2
Wipeout Pulse/Pure
Disgaea
Monster Hunter Freedom 1/2
Valkyrie Profile
Yggdra Union
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Jeanne D'Arc
Patapon
X-men Legends II
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Armored Core: Formula Front
Macross: Ace Frontier
Fired Up
Ace Combat X
Loco Roco
DJ Max Portable (various releases)
Tales of Eternia
Star Ocean: The First Departure
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
Wild Arms XF
Again, I want to stress that I have no experience with these games. These are just titles that I've personally taken an interest in.

Are you serious? What the hell does this mean, anyway? Obviously, you're the one with the hang-ups as evidenced by the use of 'still' in your sentence.
Maybe you should have clicked on my link.
Honestly, I'm enthused you didn't say what you always say to me in one of these threads: that I should say the things I say because "I know better than that". That charge makes even less sense.
I'll give you a point on the PSP Metal Gear games. Those are damn good.

Honestly Dax, your first comment was slightly misinformed. You seem to place the logic in buying a PSP primarily with upcoming releases and SRPG's. Gorvi's and Heretic's are more accurately portraying the overall benefit of owning the device. It's home to some gold.

I forgot about Lumines, awesome game. I own the live arcade version also but it's better on the PSP with headphones. I don't think you can go wrong with either Lumines 1 or 2.
I haven't played Star Ocean 1 but it is a remake of a SNES game, so I'd make sure you know what you're getting yourself into with that.

@ Gorvi: Is that the list of PSP games you own?? A road trip is in order to see your museum of games you have down there...
@Heretic Machine: The PSP is a great handheld. You won't regret having one.

I did see your link, and while I'll agree that the Q1 list of releases is small, 3 of those games are pretty much sure buys for a JRPG fan (I know, not everyone). That slim list of releases, though, really shouldn't matter all that much to a new owner, they've got nearly 4 years worth of quality releases to play through. Buying the system now, it'd take a couple of years before you run out of things to play, if not longer.
You take a dismissive tone whenever it comes to the PSP, that's why I take issue with your comments. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a huge fan of the little system, it's the console (home or portable) that I use the most by far. To list off a small handful games and then say "And that's it." is illinformed at best.

I wish! ;) Nah, there's a few games I own that I didn't list, like Astonishia Stories (pretty awful RPG that has some endearing humor, I got it for $5) or the PSP port of Breath of Fire III (I'm a big BoF fan). A lot of the list I don't own either, like the Tomb Raider games (eventually), the Monster Hunter games (eventually) or Puzzle Quest (I must be one of the few people on Earth who doesn't care for the game). Still, I have 40 games for the system and a list of about 15-20 other games that are out now that I'd still like to grab.
It's my primary system for the most part, at least with the time I devote to it, and I still can't find the time to play through everything I'd like.

I was at my local Best Buy today and there was a LARGE rack of cheap clearance PSP games. I saw Puzzle Quest for 7.50, and tons, TONS more great ones. All systems, really. Your mileage may vary by what your store has in stock, and where they're located. My store didn't have the infamous bargain bins, but a whole shelf/rack (or 10) of games by check-out, where they try to get you for one last deal before you pay for your purchases. I snagged 8 games in the last day for $10 or less for next-gen systems, the DS and PSP titles are probably even cheaper.
If I had a PSP, I would have had a field day.
