Apparently it's been pushed to 2009, and the beta has been closed.

I'm kinda bummed. I was in the beta for a while, and was pleasantly surprised at how much fun the game was. It definitely needed some work, but it had a lot of potential and I was looking forward to them working the kinks out.

Here's hoping they get things in order and avoid getting axed by "the New EA".

That was just some nonsense PR from one of the developers.

They were trying to say that it was already polished enough to release, and that they were treating the beta as some kind of pre-release, but that's utter bollocks.

The game's great as it stands, but at least in my time with it, it definitely needed some more polish. Game balancing, performance improvement, server tuning, the works. It was looking damn good for a beta, but it wasn't done yet.

It will never cease to perplex me that developers will delay a game to finish it, hammer out bugs, and at the same time end the beta; with the beta being filled with their best bug testers.

Thats a shame, i think i will have a lot of fun with this title and quake live.

Considering the time of year, and the great games we have this time of year, I think they are making a smart move. If they couldn't get the game to us by August, they really need to wait until next year. Free or not, the game would have went mostly unnoticed had it been released this month. I would have downloaded it, set up controls and graphics, played long enough to know it works, then go back to it when I have nothing better to do. I predict that will be in January or later.

Battlefield Heroes, god what a crazy game. In the beginning there were huge exploits. Its good to hear that they are entering final stage of dev. I think its the community features they are working out now.
