Here (http://wbads-18.vo.llnwd.net/e1/wbmovies/halfbloodprince/trailer/Champion_D_Lg.mov). It's a little dark but it does the job of making me happy just fine. Wasn't a huge fan of the fifth flick and I dug the trailer for it too so here's hoping. And the 6th book is my favorite so I have high hopes.

You know, I never read the books and I didn't mind the first two movies...then it just sort of got boring after that. I guess I would appreciate them more if I read the books.

Philosopher Stone - nice fantasy movie.
Chamber of Secrets - a little darker, but still a nice fantasy movie.
Prisoner of Azkaban - was okay...again, good fantasy settings and Gary Oldman, found the time travel to be tedious.
Goblet of Fire - can hardly remember this one...may have to rewatch.
Order of the Phoenix - boring. Watched it on an inflight movie on a private screen. Didn't mind at all that I missed the last 10 - 20 minutes due to the plane landing.

I wanted to hate them, but off a promise and a bet I said I would give the first one an hour of my time...Crack. I hate it but damit are they ever good. Stupid books. Not too mention I can't make fun of people who read them anymore.

Stupid stupid stupid..Great books.

The fifth book was my favorite until the sixth hit and I'm a fan of the films for the most but I really disliked the fifth movie. There's so much in the book and while I understand they have to trim to make them viable for theaters it just made the fifth a poor film. It was way too rushed and, like biosc1 said, boring. Except for the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort. That ruled. A lot.

Like most, I'm sure I prefer the books to the movies. When it came to the first movie, though, I thought it was about as perfect an adaptation as you could get, even despite the deviations. I thought the third one was a low point, but they seem to be getting better and I am looking forward to the sixth.

And, no, I don't care what anyone thinks about my reading and watching of the series. I have an excuse: I'm attempting to be a children's writer and most people will tell you to know your genre and, as for the movies, I'm usually the one at work who ends up reviewing the games. :p

I loved the books! But while the first movie was alright and the second watchable, Prisoner of Azkaban onwards it was so slow and tedious, with that whiny theme that I didn't finish watching it and never went back for the rest.

So, you're saying they were an accurate representation of the books? :D

I just watched the trailer about an hour ago. I hope they don't rush through it at hyper speed like they did OotP. They need to give these movies a solid 2 1/2 hours (or more). Not the paltry 2 hours that OotP got.

The trailer looks great though. I love that we got to see some inferi!! I love the part in the cave. I read through the books straight through over the summer so I'm eager for another movie. Hopefully the extra time is enough to fix the complaints from the screening they did a few months ago (like leaving out a vital part of the climax in lieu of the bridge collapse at the beginning).

Hi, I'm JJ. I'm 33 and a Harry Potter fan.

Hush.

It was great. The Voldemort-Dumbledore duel was worth the price of admission, and the rest of the movie worked amazingly well (Umbridge, for example, was spot on).

Maybe I'll have to go back and watch it as I only saw it once and then dismissed it. Umbridge is hands down the best casting choice they've made in the whole series without a doubt so you're right there. And yeah, that battle between the two was epic and easily one of the high points in all five films for me.

You may be onto something. I still don't own it yet despite having the others so maybe this will be my excuse to suck it up and add it to the collection.

I read and enjoyed the books. Sure, they aren't high art and Rowling needs a better editor, but they are enjoyable and that's what should count the most. I watch the movies because they are guaranteed to have a big budget and it shows. Plus Emma Watson is cute. (And you old men can stuff it, I'm young enough to think that.)

This movie looks good from what I've seen, I only wish it hadn't been pushed back.

I enjoy both the books and the movies. Maybe my expectations are lower for the films so I don't expect as much from them but I've yet to see a movie, based off of a book, where the movie turned out better. In other words, I enjoy them for what they are, a good accompaniment to the books but certainly not a replacement.

Personally, I thought that Phoenix was the best of the films. Yes, they cut a lot out and the pacing did feel rushed but not as rushed as Goblet of Fire (which I thought was the worst of the films). Despite the pacing, it had the most emotional impact, great casting (I agree that Umbridge was perfect), and a fantastic climax at the end (I thought the whole section in the ministry and dept of mysteries was handled very well).

The trailer for Half Blood Prince looks great and I'm excited to see it!

I think this one and the next will be great. The books are too awesome to ruin. Cause that how that works...right? Right?

Also, Gary Oldman is not a pretty man. Sirius Black was a pretty man. As a Sirius fan (puns!) my heart hurt a little.

I don't know. The third book is my favorite out of the series, so I think I was bound to be over-critical of the movie, but the sudden change in direction from the last two just seemed too much to me. I appreciate that you have a different opinion, though, even if it is wrong. :D

Well, I liked movie version of Prisoner of Azkaban the most of all of them, but each of the movies pale in comparison to the book version.

My favorite Harry Potter movies are the ones with a lot of Jason Isaacs in a blond wig.

Here we go, right? No! I don't mean to rain on the parade. I quite enjoyed the first two movies. I didn't care for 3 and 4, but I liked Order of the Phoenix. My primary problem is... I don't give a damn about the children. I liked the stuff about the staff, I guess? And the world is very imaginative and fun, I just wish we didn't have to follow Harry and his friends around it. I can't get into stories where the main characters are under the age of like 25. I'd rather have a 500 page book about Mr. Weasley going to work and him and Mr. Malfoy sniping each other in the Ministry of Magic than have to sit through Harry's school year.

One thing I always wondered about Mr. Weasley, though - he wants to know how planes work? Why doesn't he just go to a Muggle library? It's not like the Muggles keep their knowledge secret, unlike the filthy elitist wizards. ;)

Prisoner was easily my favorite book. Watching that trailer though I realize that I have completely forgotten what Half-Blood Prince was about. Damn shame considering I read only the first 6 books. I'll just start them over I'm sure seeing as it reads like a child's illustration.

It's the drink that the wizards all drink in Harry Potter. I imagine it tasting like a liquid butterscotch candy.

It's been so long since I've seen a Harry Potter flick but the only thing I'd say I really cared about the movies was how cute Emma Watson looked. Personal favorite flick? Probably would be Order of the Phoenix despite it being a little short.

This one looks pretty thrilling though, and amazing how the actors literally grew up with these movies. Makes for good pacing and the annoyance of having to re-cast.

Looking forward too this one, I suppose.

(and I read the books and would probably say order of the phoenix once again being my favorite although Deathly Hallows comes in 2nd)

Here's my history with Harry Potter:

I made fun of all the adults who were fans of the first book. My wife dragged me to the movie. I liked it enough that I read through all the books that were out at that point. I saw Chamber of Secrets and Azkaban, but haven't seen any of the movies after that.

My favorite of the books was Order of the Phoenix. My least two favorite were the Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows -- the stories lost my interest. Honestly, in DH, I would have rather been reading about what was happening at Hogwarts and the resistance than all the boring bullshit about the collection quest they were on.

I agree. The third one stylized everything and made it more than a two hour re-enactment of key scenes from the book.

Hey be fair, they got better from the first horrid movie to the fourth which was pretty decent. Then they made the fifth...

I watched Order of the Phoenix dubbed into Spanish (no subtitles, but I did understand what they were saying) with only having read the beginning of the book. It was obvious even to me just how much they had taken out of the story. Nonetheless, there was a particular moment from the early part of the book that I remembered rather well despite the years-long gap, and the movie captured how I imagined that setting PERFECTLY.

With that said, I'm not watching this trailer because I really should get back to reading the books...

Which part? My girlfriend put on Order of the Phoenix last night, so it's fresh in my mind.

My girlfriend and I have all the books on audiotape, we enjoy listening to them while I play some of the more repetitive video games and she knits. It's a great way to let the story really sink in, as they are easy reads and you can really whip through them if you want to. Stephen Fry's wonderful voice and the enforced slower pacing of listening to someone read aloud actually improved the last two books, in my opinion, because I was so eager to finish the story when I read them that it kindof ruined the pacing of some key scenes.

Jim Dale does the American versions of the audiobooks, and won some awards for his impressive voice acting, but I prefer Stephen Fry.
