Capcom has apparently finally grown bored with torture and has, after months of teasing, finally given us the release date for Street Fighter IV.

The PS3 and 360 versions of the game will be launching in North America on February 17th, while European gamers will be able to grab it on February 20th. Capcom has promised a PC version of the game as well, but no mention of it was made in this announcement, so don't expect it on that day.

Hm. This might just be my first disc-based PS3 game purchase.

The thought of playing this on the 360 controller's dpad creeps me out to no end. Although I'd have to pick up a Dual Shock 3 for the rumble so this'll end up being a >$100 investment...

Decisions, decisions.

Yes, I could mod the 360 controller, but I'm lazy. :D

Why no mention of the arcade stick, Capcom?? I want that damn thing to ship on or before the date this game ships. Before would be great :) Like, now.

Played this at E3. It's so friggin slick looking, it's like digital gravy for your eyeballs.

Do want.

I have the PS3 SCIV Hori stick, so... looks like I'm set up there. Though I wonder if there's going to be any performance difference between the two platforms, for online play I mean.

What are your thoughts of the Hori stick? Personally, I'm not a fan of arc button arrangements. I am so used to two flat rows that it is difficult to switch. It isn't a horrible transition, however there is a layer of thought involved, whereas with straight rows, I can rely on twitch muscle memory.

I have a 360 Hori stick. I wonder if there will be a SF4 version coming out? I have a VF5 version but I didn't put the decals on. Hell, it's actually still in the box.

I thought we already knew the release date?

We only knew it was coming early 2009. I'd actually received like 4 press releases in the last 2 weeks teasing it, or saying "sometime in February", but this was the official announcement.

Oh ok... I remember something from Februray 2009 and talks about it 2008 not being the year of fighters as suggested.

So far it's okay, I think I would have liked it if it was just plain bigger overall. The stick feels a little short, otherwise it's pretty solid. The button arrangement doesn't bother me, but I could see how people might not like it.

The d-pad does suck on the 360. But it's not all that much better on the PS3. I can still remember the blisters on my fingers when I got SF3 on PS2.
