Another Friday means another sneak at new content coming to Burnout Paradise in 2009. This week, it's a toy car pack. Well, that's what Criterion (http://www.criteriongames.com) is calling it anyway.

There isn't much info other than 9 cars total getting the alternate "toy" look modified to them. Will these be crashable? Other than the look, is there any other difference? Are they really tiny? Is this paid content? EDIT: Looks like it's free folks, so says Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=26673933).

We don't have those answers yet, but it brings us one more week closer to the final reveal for 2009. We'll get that next Friday. If I were a betting man, I'd say it'll be the new island reveal.

None of it matters, of course, since there's no topping last weeks reveal (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=2243).

The car on the left looks like the new Camaro Chevy is bringing out. It is the car that Bumblebee was in the Transformers movie.

Damnit. Between this and the other famous movie/TV cars... now I HAVE to get Paradise. I love the idea of playing with the fantasy matchbox cars that look like sharks, or have a transparent-yellow bubble over the chrome engine.

:D

May be part of their new "party" pack?

I was thinking the very same thought. Although I wish there was a matchbox car Paradise like game that someone would make...now that I would buy right now...

I like this but I think they should have announced it last week and saved last week's announcement for this week.

It's been a long week.

I like the look of those cars but I hope they're free. I'd rather save my points for the new island.

Of course, EA seems intent to bury us in 300 piece of DLC for every game they publish these days, so who knows.

I must say.

Burnout + DLC = win!

If every company did it like this.

Without drivers in them, aren't all of the cars in Burnout basically remote controlled toy cars?

But looking at the last couple of packs, is Criterion just pushing until a movie studio sues them? First the Delorean and I swear some of those toy cars were ripped right from, well Cars.

The toy cars are just variations on cars already in Paradise. In terms of art design they're not much like Cars. I'm pretty sure the design is borrowed from a line Hot Wheels had, though I can't remember the name anymore.

Yeah. They definately look more like Hot Wheels cars than things from Cars. Now put some googly eyes on the windshield and it's a different story :)
