Age of Conan has thrown open the doors to Ymir's Pass, the free update for the game which Funcom promises will vastly increase the scope of the title.
Touted as the largest content update so far, Ymir's Pass - named after the sire of the Frost Giants in Norse mythology - will give high level players access to new regions, new loot and The Amphitheater, a massive new dungeon. This is in addition to recent updates which improved the player-versus-player aspects and allowed for greater character freedom.
The update is free for subscribers, and should download automatically.
About time, although abit too late for me :/

Yes, to late. But...
I'll give AoC some time to mature. Who knows, maybe in 6 to 8 months the game might be quite good and worth going back.

My excitement over AoC pittered out around level 55. I'll definitely go back in a few months and see the changes though. The new PvP system and this Ymir's pass sound like great additions.

Too little too late. Sorry Funcom.
Too many other games to play now.

Greater character freedom? What they remove the invisible bullshit walls they added AFTER release?
Perfectly solid, if buggy and broken game at launch, then they go and fuck it up every patch after.
Ymirs Pass was suppose to be out 2 months after launch.

In the words of a great man...
There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, it's probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on ... shame on you. It fool me. We can't get fooled again.

i ran through this area a few times on the test server, it really is a blast. very original quests, cool earthquakes with great visual effects and with the recent patch there has been a massive amount of updates, balancing and fixes. yamirs pass it aimed at level 55. give it a try, i've been really enjoying my time in there lately.

I feel bad for Funcom. I'll always admire them for making The Longest Journey, but none of their games since then have really captured my attention.

That's really good to hear. It seems like that new game director is really turning things around over at Funcom. As soon as he took over they actually started delivering on the things that they've been promising for months. Maybe it was just a timing thing but still....

Bugs and exploits are still very much a major issue in this game. After the murderer patch went in, people were able to advance from pvp L1 to pvp L5 in 1-2 days due to an exploit. And what was even better was that a very large number of people openly abused the exploit, but the best part is that under the new leadership of the new game director, they actually did something to the people that abused the exploit (unlike in the past when they did nothing to people that exploited).
This time they compared the PvP level prior to the patch to the PvP level after the hotfix to fix the exploit, identified the people that advanced at a rate that was impossible to have been done unless you used the exploit. Those people were reset to PvP L1 and stripped of all PvP gear, which accounted for quite a loss in gold for the people that exploited and bought high level PvP gear.
I still think they should have banned those people, but I understand why they didn't. Funcom is hurting for subscribers right now with the large number of people that exploited the bug, I can see why they just slapped their wrists. The best part was the forums where the exploiters actually complained that the punishment wasn't fair because of all the other exploits that were never punished.
The state of the game is still pretty crappy, and I would never recommend anyone to pay to play it. I'm canceled and just waiting for my sub to elapse. At the rate of improvement, I'd say this will be playable about this time next year, but then you'll be faced with what is sure to be a buggy expansion pack.

Moofpack.com just put up our videos of the midnight release for Wrath of the Lich King. I know its not exactly Conan related, but its another MMO so what the hell. We think its pretty funny and we had a great time doing it, so check it out when you get a moment.

Thank you. I wanted to say something, but I feared looking like an ass in case he was legit. I wouldn't dare click the link of a first time poster, though 8-P.

You think I did? Fuck that, I wont click anything from a first time poster. Legit or not, that message reeks of copy/paste. Probably not as delicious as real paste though.

I didn't mean to imply that you jumped in head first, I just meant you made the call. Also, I never saw the appeal of eating any stationary products. Always grossed me out when I saw kids do that 8-(.
Remember that episode of Powerpuff Girls where the one kid is a paste eater and gets picked on by the other kids? He turns into a giant glue monster. Good times.

The appeal is in the grossing out of the cootie carriers. The weirder people were the ones drinking glue. Also had a kid in our school who would eat salt packets, had a friar tuck hairstyle, and was adamantly convinced that Britney Spears was his girlfriend.
Man, I gotta thank the shill for bringing back some hilarious memories.
