View Full Version : Forget a magnifier...(painting minis)

I have a cold this week and I've been painting my 40K minis in-between bouts of sleeping.

While painting in my glasses, I realized something - being super near sighted means that I don't need a magnifier. -6 in the right eye and -5.5 in the left means that detail work is super, super easy when I hold the mini close, and I don't have to strain to do it.

Very bizarre.

I roughly have the same vision as you, and yeah, there's nothing unnatural about it.

Being near sighted means you have perfect vision between two inches and eight inches, while normal vision means perfect vision between 7 inches and (usually) infinity.
It's an optical physics thing.

I tell you what, this has reduced my eyestrain a ton.

There's definitely no need for a magnifier when painting if your close vision is good, eyeglass or otherwise. I find it just distorts the miniature too much, especially when dealing with 10mm scale.
