Uhm, most band names? KoRn, Staind, Tool, Disturbed, etc. I thought the point was to take something that would be scorned and laughed at in any other situation and turn it into something cool. Then again, I might be rationalizing.

Linkin Park, Deathcab For Cutie, Nickelback, Papa Roach.
The Killers (so incredibly generic and uninspired)

I love those guys and their name. I think !!! should do a tour with the band +/-, and maybe ? and the Mysterians could reform to join them for a big ol' punctuation fest. As an encore Sigur Ros could play their album () in its entirety.

Any band that begins its name with a preposition like "To" or "From," usually a metal band, annoys me.

Fun in misunderstanding:
The Spanish band Jarabe de Palo. In Spain their name refers to violently using a stick to 'cure' someone of misbehavior. The Latin American understanding is completely unrelated, as over there "jarabe" is understood to mean "semen" and "palo" means "penis".

I wont say AxCx out loud, just because its so awfully vulgar. And I really dont like grindcore, or their obsession with calling people homosexuals.

For what it's worth, bands that have names that start like that are typically shit Metalcore bands and aren't real metal anyway.

What? No love for:
Nashville Pussy (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll)?
Actually...I guess that isn't a bad name...
Here's the local bar that usually has some outrageously named bands (link to horrible myspace site for bar) (http://www.myspace.com/wendythirteen)
Upcoming...Baboon Torture Division!

Tupelo Chain Sex
I'm going to defend Panic! At The Disco even though I loathe their music. The name may be a bit silly but I don't think it's terrible and would even go so far as to say it's better than many band names out there. Like Poison, say. Or Ratt.

Fall Out Boy
To be fair, Fall Out Boy started as a joke band and is named after the Simpson's character.

Also, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the band "...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead".
Some time back a friend and I were also trying to compile a list of bands whose names also describe their sound. The only ones I can remember are "Casiotone for the Painfully Alone", "The All-Girl Summer Fun Band", and "Electric Light Orchestra".

Death Cab for Cutie is a literary reference if I remember correctly. I still think its kind of a dumb name, but it's less dumb because of this fact.
My list:
As I Lay Dying
Korn
NSYNC

For your health!
Dr. Steve Brule, a man after my own heart.
I personally can't stand the name "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah" (even though I love their music). Also, "MGMT" gets on my nerves. And there used to be a band in Sioux Falls named "CSNVTTS!" (pronounced "Casanovetts"). They were arrogant as fuck, but fun as hell to party with.

I would be annoyed with MGMT if I didn't love their music (videos) so damn much. Trippiest shit ever!

I remember finding these two bands when going on a metal music hunt:
Anal Blast (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3024)
Septic Blood Fart (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=180352044)
If the name Anal Blast is not bad enough, here are their album names:
Puss Blood Pentagram
Vaginal Vempire
Perversion...and the Guilt After / Version 5 Obese
Battered Bleeding Bitch
Assault On The Hot Wet Blood Hole Best of/Compilation
I DARE you to look at the song names. :o

Wow, that's actually a band name now?
Last time I checked, it was a way for waitstaff to underhandedly insult customers without their knowledge.

The more I think about it, the garage band I was a part of in college had a pretty crappy name. We were called "Asking For A Bad Ending".

Same. Then I saw my buddy's gf walking around with a C-U-N-T hoodie on. Which of course lead to me finding out it's actually a band name, which makes it all ok. Good thing, too. I woulda really thought that was crass otherwise.

That kind of reminds me when French Connection UK clothing was all the rage. I can't count the number of people I talked to wearing it that had no clue what "FCUK" actually stood for.

Let's not leave MCs out of this just because they're not technically a band. I'm calling out the Ices, both T and Cube. Can you imagine what getting started must have been like for them? Hilarious.
The Academy Is... just because I don't know what it means.
Apocalyptica, because their music is so beautiful and they really don't need that Metallica link anymore.
Brand New is just kinda boring.
And the Barenaked Ladies because its misleading, great though they may be.
