The EGM Rumor Mill has a dubious history. Some tips prove true, while others end up falling a bit flat. In the most recent issue of EGM, there was the rumor (http://gonintendo.com/?p=62744) that the Square Enix action/RPG Wii title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: the Crystal Bearers had been quietly canceled. The game was shown at E3 2006 and received a tremendous amount of praise and drew a significant following from the RPG-starved Wii audience. Since then, no news, images or videos have been heard from the title, leaving fans with uncertain fear that this rumor could end up having some truth to it.

Fortunately Square Enix sent a message to GoNintendo in an effort to clear the air.

We have never announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers has been cancelled and have every intention of releasing it. There may be some concerns as a firm ship date has not been set but rest assured there will be an announcement once we finalize the date internally.I, for one, am immensely grateful to learn that Crystal Bearers was not canned in order to make way for Echoes of Time. I have a feeling that I'm not the only one.

Thank you Square. And thank YOU Doc. ....This story is just what I needed in terms of inspiration for a comic. :)

Awesome news. I was afraid Wii owners would get nothing more than a DS game on the bog screen. granted, it is a very nice looking DS game, but VEEERY simple for a full-blown Wii title.

God, this is good news, but I'm looking forward to how different the final game is from that trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdKamRZ49Uc).
