(PSVita) Persona 4: The Golden

I feel this game deserves its own thread. Recently announced, Persona 4: The Golden is scheduled to come out in the second quarter of 2012 in Japan, hopefully with a US release to follow not long after.

The new character's outfit looks pretty stupid, but otherwise I'm in. Currently replaying P3 on the PSP and I definitely enjoy the new perspective.

While that would be nice (I would love some MegaTen PS3 remasters), this fits with their trend of remaking and updating the Persona games for Sony's portables. Apparently, this was originally planned to be on the PSP, but production was moved over to the Vita. I am a little sad at that, as I was hoping to eventually have the full set of Persona games on the PSP. But this will do.

I do hope Eternal Punishment is on it's way, and on the PSP. I would love to have those side by side on my shelf, in the same language.

The PSP just got more personal -- Persona 2: Innocent Sin has an official release date of September 20 in North America, and it is available for pre-order, for $40, right now. Pre-orders from Gamestop and Amazon will get a free 10-track CD featuring original, remixed and arranged songs from Shoji Meguro, who composed Persona 3 and 4, and more recently, Catherine.

Atlus also released a new trailer for Innocent Sin, which can provide you an atomic series-nostalgia-bomb above.

That's Innocent Sin, not Eternal Punishment. Different games. I know Innocent Sin is coming in a few weeks, but I, among others, has hoped that the remakes of Persona 1 and Persona 2: Innocent Sin means and Eternal Punishment remake is on the way, especially since IS and EP go together.

Sorry, Innocent Sin is the big deal because it hasn't been officially localized before. I suppose I'm just falling into the fanboy trap of always wanting the next shiny thing.

Totally agree. In fact, since they reuse a lot of the maps between the games, I originally hoped they could put the two games out together on one UMD. When they announced Innocent Sin as a standalone, I figured it was so that they could maximize how much money they make from the remakes.

Join the club. Sad thing is, this isn't the first time I'll buy a new system just for a port of a MegaTen game. Atlus has me by the balls...and I'm afraid I think I like it.

It's great to have this finally confirmed. I think that the PS2 version has the record for the most time I've ever put into a single-player RPG at somewhere north of 110 hours, but I'd gladly play it again on the Vita.

Now if only I could sit down and actually finish P3P :)

I read on another forum that in addition to having more lines voiced in the game, they were re-voicing some characters. Hadn't been following the game that much, but found this article (http://www.destructoid.com/atlus-casting-for-persona-4-arena-might-not-be-permanent-226885.phtml). I guess there are some changes to the P4 Arena (fighting game) voice cast (Teddie, possibly Chie?), and Atlus' official line is: Any changes for Persona 4 Arena with regards to the voice cast do not necessarily indicate changes for Persona 4 Golden

Well P3: FES is available as a download on the PS3.

In any case, this is a remake of a really long game I've already beaten, so I'm not sure it's worth it on it's own (very worth it for those who haven't played it though). I'm certainly not going to pick up a handheld for it as I barely ever play handhelds anyway.

Wouldn't bother me if they changed him. The voice-acting seemed silly enough for Teddy, but also way too old.

What I found strange was:
From the screenshots, it looks like the reverse-trap has a different haircut and girlie outfit for after you find out "he" doesn't have a penis. If this is true, then it means there isn't actually a new character.

Also, there are already a ton of girls on your team (4 girls vs. 2 guys, 1 teddy, and 1 gay guy), so if this is actually a new character and not a new skin, I'm not sure what they are thinking. You'd think a new character would be something strange and interesting, or it would be another gay kid so that the gay kid/bully would have a love interest. Whatever.

@EWoflman - Yeah, I read up after I posted. Just viewed the screenshots on my first go. The new girl character looks kind of boring to me. . . like one more normal girl. Maybe she'll have something to do with the scooters and the new scooter attacks (so ridiculous - and so awesome). :)

Oh, btw, I forgot to give kudos for your joke earlier (Spigot made me notice it). I lol'd, but I was in a fan frenzy with my first impressions and absolutely HAD to post ignorantly and immediately.
