Capcom has sent us a whole host of new screenshots for Resident Evil 5, showing off co-op play, vehicular levels, and some of the game's baddies.

Resident Evil 5 is set for release on March 13th on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Nope. But that's cause we all have you on ignore ;)

Those screens are unbelievable. This is really sad. I had no interest in the game but after seeing those screenshots...damn how can someone not be? Maybe the pre-order will come with a free zombie...

I've been planning on getting it the whole time anyway, but the screenshots make it look like it's going to be a lot of fun. I hope those dogs don't end up being a pain in the ass.

This hasn't been high on my list of anticipated titles, but that may change depending on how much everyone here talks about it once the game is out. :p

I'm sure they're more rail levels than a true vehicular level. That is, you'll be firing a gun and doing other stuff while AI drives the vehicles.

I'll just be happy for the new controller layout option. I really wanted to like RE4, I did, but the controls were so counterintuitive I couldn't finish it.

I may get the PC version if they treat is half as good the DMC4 port and release it with the consoles!

Also: I think we may get the "non-HD" console version, a la Halo 3 and GTA4 PS3, due to HDRiffic lighting.

Which is just as bad. Two of my least favorite things in gaming, driving levels and turrets, melded into one of my favorite franchises. This makes me sad. :(

I hope that's a very small part of the game, as well as the videos I've seen of him mowing down 100s of zombies with an assault rifle.
RE to me was always about conserving ammo and only shooting when absolutely nessecary.

It looks awesome, don't get me wrong. It just doesn't look like Resident Evil anymore.

Funny, because I worked to beat the original Resident Evil in under 3 hours to get the infinite rocket launcher. I think at that point it stopped being survival horror.

You're right though, since RE4 came out, it's just not the same game. I still really badly want a new RE game that is just like the old ones. Or even a remake of RE2 and RE3 and even RE Code Veronica with updated graphics like the GC remake and Zero. Man I love those games and still play them to this day. I didn't like Zero as much because of the whole having to control two people thing, but it was still a great game.

RE1 is definitely still my favourite in the franchise. There's no way to replicate the atmosphere presented in that game while using the RE4 gameplay mechanics. Don't get me wrong...RE4 is absolutely fantastic but it isn't the same as its predecessors and i respect that. A hybrid of the two styles is what i would like. RE4 mechanics but slowed down enough to allow the environment to interact with you similarly to RE1. you know what i mean?

Correct. They are humans infected with a mutated strain of Las Palagas which is essentially a mind control parasite.

I know everything about RE (I help run a few fansites) so feel free to ask me any questions. :cool:

Yeah I'm sure it'll compose maybe a whopping 5% of the total game content, I can see how one person (you) would get all bent out of shape over this.

Bah. Add in something called the Z-Virus. Slap in some tight corridors. Lots of zombies and a hand full of bullets. Papers the draw out the fact you are indeed fighting zombies. Human npc who you can't figure out what the fuck they are doing and bam a Resident Evil game. Oh and you can't forget the "lost people". There is always the hunt for someone that's gone missing.

I remember when Dino Crisis was the same, except change the obstacle from zombie to raptor. But no.....

Ah, Resident Evil. It has gone from original, to great, to crap and then back to ok. To be completely honest, this is the first RE game I have been looking forward to since RE2. Coop in a RE game? I hope it is split screen. A friend and me basically played RE4 coop by handing the controller back and forth. I don't know. Horror games for me are best shared with a friend. So every time you see something goofy that is supposed to be scary, you get a good laugh. What is with games in Africa lately? I hope this is not a Far Cry wanna be.
