Wii owners, Electronic Arts thinks you're fat. At least that seems like the thinking behind the announcement of EA Sports Active, an new title for the Wii designed to get you into shape.
Designed with input from Bob Greene - Oprah's personal trainer - the game will use the Wii balance board, but not require it. Active will ship with straps which will attach the nunchuk to your legs, allowing the game to track your lower body movements, as well as a resistance band to work your upper body.
Active features a '30 Day Challenge' mode, providing a new 20 minute workout everytime you exercise, as well as featuring multi user modes and Balance Board integration.
EA Sports Active will launch exclusively for the Wii this spring.

We should start a pool on how long until the first injury lawsuit.

This is awesome. Our household is a big fan of both Yourself Fitness and Wii Fit. I welcome more competition in the workout game arena.
Edit: Strap the nunchuck to your feet? Any crossover with FIFA?

I'm on board (hah, no pun intended), so long as I don't have to buy the EA balance board. I've already got ONE collecting dust!
It would be great if the EA product actually managed to motivate me this time.....however, I think it's the gut doing that. I don't want diabetus!

Input from Oprah's personal trainer?
Um...how's that working out for him?

She normally admits it's her fault for ballooning. He can't be there every working minute. Although she is pretty rich.

I'm assuming you never have to stretch you're arm up.

Hmm. Not useful for FIFA then...
Still interested in burning calories on this though.
What we really need is a next-gen, Internet-enabled Yourself Fitness sequel that ties into a site with recipes, tracking and other details.

Hey
Why does this story have the "fail" and "ohplease" tags on it? That's damn closed-minded. :(

Hey, wasn't me. I actually like Wii Fit and I support anything that comes out that gets more use out of that board.

Looks okay, I'd really like to see a free weight training program. Obviously Wii owners don't mind buying accessories, and the remote is just about perfect to fit inside a powerblock. No more cardio! We need meat!

I expected more "ohnoes" about EA catering even more to the casual crowd. EA making it's own WiiFit...the Wii is beyond scary...

Dude. Then you are just lifting weights. Go to the gym.
Although I remember on Yourself Fitness there was always about 10 minutes of cardio and then 40 minutes of stuff like push up, crunches, curls, and a bunch of other at home strengthening type things to do. Do don't lifting weights on a balance board is a good idea. Could crack.

I prefer to do my weights at home. It would just be nice to have someone spotting my form. Hence, want a weight lifting program!

I remember when I had my weight bench in my bed room. The greatest era in my form.

At least you only have to listen to your own grunts. Sometimes the gym just sounds too damn much like caveman choir.

Wii owners, Electronic Arts thinks you're fat.
Or perhaps EA thinks Wii owners are the only gamers interested in not staying fat. :p

I went to the university rec center and I think it's folks who grunt just to bring attention to themselves. Real Classy. And it's not like the pumping 300lbs or all that cut. Looked like run of the mill douches.

Just your standard issue gym douche, it would appear. University gyms aren't always known for uptown amenities.
Wait, what?

Well UH just built this place not long ago. Seems on par with the latest and greatest gyms out there. But yeah typical gym douches with a dash of stereotypical frat jock.
