Nope. I think it had something to do with the licensing of the characters. Strangely enough, I think this looks more interesting than StreetFighter IV.

I would have doubted it very much. There's niche titles and there's niche titles. I had a hard time thinking of more than a few tatsunoko characters. WOuld the guy on the street have even heard of the company?

And we have a few other issues to contend with that I’m not able to get into details on that are coloring what direction we are able take with the franchise in the West. Again, we’re deeply in ’stay tuned’ territory but I don’t expect to have any solid news to share openly, one way or the other for a couple months.”

Up until recently, I just created an account at Play-Asia, and while the game is sitting in my cart, I think like jacob, I'll end up purchasing this as well next month.

Also, I bit the bullet and ordered a japanese wii, along with a copy of Zero: Gesshoku no Kamen (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-11a-49-en-70-2srv.html). They just shipped my order this morning. :D

I saw that while play-asia has freeloaders, they're sold out and only work with the 3.3 firmware. But I think it's worth importing the system regardless.

For rates, it depends on how much you want to pay for shipping charges and how fast you want your orders delivered to you.

It has less to do with the lack of knowledge of Tatsunoko's characters and more to do with the difficulty of gaining the rights to use all the characters. In Japan, games like this are more common, because the rights are owned by fewer corporations. However, in the US, games like this have no apparent chance of being released.

I've dumped a few hours into this, and I must say it's orgasmic with the Classic Controller. The game uses four face buttons with one partner instead of two. MvC2 Players shouldn't have too much trouble transitioning.

I don't think this generation has seen a tighter traditional 2D fighter. Great loading times, animations, music and backdrops. Of course, during battles, you don't realize it's a Japanese game at all.

For the hardcore with the cash and the love of fighters, you couldn't do any better for yourselves than find a region-free work-around for your Wii.

A great addition to the Wii library.

Man, I would kill for Marvel VS Capcom 3, or even a port of MVC 2 playable on XBox Live Arcade. Unfortunately, that would require Capcom to acquire the Marvel license again. I think they would need the license to make an online-ready version of MVC2...does anyone know for sure? When MVC2 was ported to the XBox several years ago, I read in a mag that they couldn't add online-functionality since they didn't own the license any more because it would technically be a different game. I don't know if that is true or not.

In any case, I'd be more than satisfied with a fighter in the same vein as the MVC series. Sorry to slightly derail the topic :cool:

I've been playing the hell out of this. The controls are razor sharp. Fine tuned to perfection. It's one of those games that couldn't do online multiplayer because of lag, but head-to-head, it's a dream.

I understand TvC can't make it outside of Japan, but Capcom should find a way to re-skin the characters with their own properties and release the game worldwide. It's simply too good, accessible and playable to just sit in Nippon.

I've seen it about, but didn't have the cash on me at the time. I'm fairly sure this is going to be a low-key release, so I'm fairly sure I need to grab this sooner rather than later.
