Turns out that SiriusXM Radio Finally hit the switch, XM Radio and Sirius Radio are pretty much no more as separate entities. XM and Sirius have both announced new channel lineups. Many of what XM had is now newly named but with the original program directors.
Note: some of the channels listed that were "XL" aren't listed as XL. That does NOT mean they are censored, in fact, channels that were once censored aren't any longer.

I'm going to wait it out to see how the changes turn out for both companies, I was quite shocked to receive an e-mail today saying the channel lineup was changing, today.

Satellite radio is one of those things that I would like to have but I don't see any reason for it....plus it's far too expensive ATM. I'm quite happy with my iPod for music and my podcasts for talk.

Like I've always said, all they need to do is bring out a device that lets me listen to my Yahoo! LAUNCHcast radio on the go, with the ability to rate things like on their site and I would be in, in no time.

I discovered this this morning, finding a bunch of different station names on the 'dial'. What was Indie Talk is now called POTUS (http://www.sirius.com/potus) (they use "Politics" rather than "President" for that first letter) on Sirius 110. And some of the shows are different (Ron Silver is moved back later, and only for an hour, Blog Bunker is gone, Me & Vinny is gone, John Devore doesn't seem to be there anymore, Pete's Big Mouth is there under a different name).Satellite radio is one of those things that I would like to have but I don't see any reason for it....plus it's far too expensive ATM. I'm quite happy with my iPod for music and my podcasts for talk. For me, local radio is pretty limited, unless you're looking for country stations, and reception can be spotty. If I had a Zune pass or similar subscription, I might use my iPod in the car a lot more often. (*Edit* Okay, that sounds kinda stupid. I know you can't use a Zune pass on an iPod...)

I've had Sirius radio since 05, and it's the best decision I ever made. I bought a lifetime subscription, which pays for itself after 3 years and I would never go back to terrestrial radio... ever... Even if SiriusXM explodes and files for bankruptcy.
As long as Faction 28 and Howard 100 stay the same, I'm good to go.

As someone who spends and hour and a half in the car each day, it is a great investment. I have a lot of mp3s but I do admit that my collection and musical tastes can be pretty stagnant. I like satellite radio because I can experience new music and programming that I wouldn't be exposed to otherwise. It's also nice to see the name and artist on the display if I want to look up more music by that group on my computer when I get home.
I'm excited about the expanded programming.

i'm happy with the change, i only had to make a few small adjustments to my presets, one being that they moved Playboy radio from 198 to 99 and a few name changes to some other channels like buzzsaw, other than that i'm happy..

Only reason I would buy Sirius is for Howard Stern, and his show leaks to the net every day its done.... so screw it.

Gotta say I was a little suprised my "Squizz" was renamed and "The Joint" and Cinemagic didn't come in properly at all. Least I know the Joint is still around and that it just shifted #s a little.

I also have the lifetime Sirius. It looks like I can add the "Best of XM" for $100 but I don't see anything of interest.

Too bad it's not leaked into your morning commute. ;)

I became an XM subscriber for O&A. I had no interest in satellite radio before that. Now, I couldn't live without it. I've become accustom to having all kinds of music at my fingertips. I realize with a computer you can find this too at no cost. I have my XM in my car where I do lots of traveling. I love my ipod and all but I don't download enough music to keep all the music I might be in the mood for at a given time.
I knew the change was coming. It was just jarring to press my favs button to have different stations popping up where my favs used to be. Not a good thing to be trying to find a station on a mobile XM player as you drive...

I'm the same Santa, I got it for O&A, but came to really enjoy some of the music stations too, and the fact that I can listen to them with few drop outs on my commute to work (30 minutes) or family (2 hours away) is great! I just pick what I'm in the mood for and drive drive drive.

I'm going to derail the thread but..oh well...how long have you been a fan of O&A? I've been following them when they first got to NY @ WNEW...

I'm always a day behind... not a biggie really. I'd rather be able to listen to it at my own will and pause and such.
I had Sirius then got a car with XM. XM was alright, but I thought Sirius had bette rmusic stations hands down. With that, for them to get rid of Fungus 53 and put that Viva La Bam shit on instead makes me made. Faction was alright in the beginning and Marky Ramone is the only saving grace they have on that station.
Also First Wave is on XM now HA HA HA!!!!!

When they got to WYSP through Syndication. =)
And thanks to them (well, Opie), I never say the words "Good luck, bro!" to anyone!

I got you beat on that. I have all their CDs when they were jocks on WAAF in Boston. I got material you've never heard before.

XM Radio, good investment on a job that requires frequent road trips.
Changes came all of a sudden, and what the fuck? How did you guys on Sirius ever put up with the CONSTANT FUCKING PROMO CHATTER?!? Isn't that the kind of crap we PAY for radio to avoid?
I swear, for a while there on AC/DC it was like 3 fucking promos for every goddamn song.
"Listen to this channel!" "tune in for that show!" "You're on AC/DC!"
NO SHIT, SHERLOCK, GIMME MY DAMN MUSIC AND STFU!
Note: I only ended up on AC/DC because I had to surf channels after discovering that they whacked the trance channel I had on one of my presets.

You are from philly? Or you just picked them up from WYSP? I'm finding a lot of CoGers in this area...a possible east coast get together maybe one day...

Ok, now that is classic stuff. Although when they played some tapes from their WAAF days...the bombing blimp...was funny in an awful kinda way. Glad i'm not the only O&A fan on here. Usually I only read about Howard fans...

That's what's driving me mad right now, all the DJs and promos - it is quite obvious what Mel Karmazin does to companies. He drove CBS Radio into the ground, and I really think that he's going to drive SiriusXM into the ground. I find it to be quite concerning that the company made NO mention before the day of changes.
I'm also finding that the playlists are extremely shallow. When I used to listen to Squizz on XM48, it was quite diverse with newer stuff and played older a little less. Now it's all stuff from early in the decade with new stuff sometimes thrown in. I'm bothered by that. It might be the end of my subscription soon.

About an hour north of Philly, so I get YSP, but not always super clear. Hell, back then I listened to YSP all day... Howard in the AM, OnA afternoon, the Greaseman in Eve, and Ferrall at night. Probably the most I listened to radio at any point in my life. lol.
