Update 8-22-2011Bad news. There were issues with the vendor we were trying to work through and there currently aren't any shirts. HOWEVER, we're attempting a last ditch attempt to get the shirts done by another vendor and sent to Seattle. If that doesn't work out, I still have the design files and we can have them printed up after the show and work out something to help cover shipping costs.

Update 8-8-2011 The vendor has upped the time table on me a bit, so the shirts were ordered today. I have double checked most of your sizes in message, but when ordering please still enter the size you want ordered in the special notes section of the PayPal order as a final check. Please follow the PayPal link to pay for your order at your earliest convenience

If you name is on this list, shirts have been ordered for you, so please hit up the paypal link at your earliest convenience.

It's getting to be that time again. The time where before you know it, we'll all be in Seattle playing games, partying, and standing in line. Now who wouldn't want to stand in line in style flying the CoG banner proudly upon their chest?

For some of the newcomers this year, we have managed to get t-shirts made up every year we've attended, dating back before CoG on the site-not-worth-mentioning.

***THESE SHIRTS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AT PAX. If you are not attending PAX and still want a shirt, if we're under our maximum quantity for the vendor, we can arrange for the shirts to be shipped to you, the price will be more reflecting shipping/handling costs.

The pricing is settled! We've arranged for the shirts to cost $10.
Payments can be made through the paypal link below.

When ordering, fill out the special instructions section:

Forum Name - Size - Quantity

So if I was ordering 3 shirts for multiple people ($30.00)

Up the quantity on the order to 3
Place my special instructions as:
AniAko - XXL - 2
Jackel - L - 1

I'm hoping to get a design finalized by next week. I also have a person that could do the shirts for us local to me, I'd be bringing them with to Seattle. We need a design with unicorns, lasers and Zeppelin's first. I do like the Boston shirts from last year, we had our names on the front with the cog

That's cool then. I had them printed up by a website and shipped to me when we did them at Prime 2010, but if you have a local place that does them all the better. Definitely put me down for one. And let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Definitely, appreciate the offer :) I'm hoping to save people some dough by having it done locally by a friend (although I know I'll probably be assisting as well) as well as other overhead. I'm have no clue on prices yet, once we get the designs I'll see if she can get me a quote next week.

Whoa whut? Names on the shirts? Fancy! I'll have to adjust the design accordingly. Are you thinking single-side large image (like the 2010 shirts) with the names in front, or putting the names on the back (like sports jerseys)?

Also, I float between XL and XXL, depending on brand. :o

Fuck, I really need to get back home so I can go to one of these :D

Actually...my parents are really wanting my son and I to come home for a visit, and I could simply arrange for it to happen the same time as PAX. May not be able to go to the actual convention, BUT hanging out with you guys would be awesome in and of itself.

I did the best I could :(

I'm just playing, it definitely was last second, I think the shirts arrived in the mail 2 days before I left for Seattle. Plus it was hard to drum up interest, I think I only had 7 or 8 of them printed.

Rough draft. No affiliates put on the image yet - I seem to recall last year it made the design really cluttered, so I ended up re-using mightbe's pic which only had some of them on there...

also, I haven't seen the Boston shirts, so I dunno how the names looked on the shirts, so I took a wild guess at it. *shrugs*

My friend I'm looking to work with to make the shirts has a website www.custom-plus.com. Her site caters to the cuddlier gentleman and woman so I'm assuming the size patterns they use are a good fit. I have shirts on order with her now, so I'll report how well they fit once I get them. She's local, so no worries about shipping.

This is how the names looked on the Boston shirts last year. The CoG astronauts were on the back with a print up of our affiliates in the CoG network I believe. I'll snap a pick tonight and post it.

Damn straight you get rid of that unicorn, need to make room for the narwhal ;)

Yeah no problem with that, but in the essence of time people who ordered them that aren't going wouldn't get them until after the show, probably wouldn't even make them until I got back. I just hope the demand isn't high for non-atendees. ;)

No shirt is complete without "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Including Mach is THE LEAST we can do for him stopping The Rapture earlier this year.

I mean, if you're going to have unicorns and zeppelins and narwhals... why not Mach droppin' the elbow, or a double-axe handle, off the top?

Macho = Death from above. THINK ABOUT IT. (Maybe he could be free falling from the zeppelin.)

And I'll take an XL, assuming they're not from American Apparel and run a size small. Otherwise, maybe hook a brother up with an XXL (just to be safe).

Ok, you guys are F'n KILLING me. Everybody keeps saying they want "the shirt from PAXEast" but I haven't seen what people keep talking about.

Without knowing what people are talking about, I can't try to help direct you to the assets.

The only ones I know of are the base cog, the Colony name, and the "Astronauts" concert-poster style that mightbe did a few years ago:

http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/8539/clipboard02gv.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/856/clipboard02gv.jpg/)

I'll take whatever we end up with :)

wyeast
07-21-2011, 10:48 AM
Thanks Bone. :o I'll keep tweaking it if there's interest (like pulling the names back off and simplifying it since it won't have to carry the name/etc), but like I said people keep talking about the PAXEast shirts. What did the back of those look like?

AniAko
07-21-2011, 11:20 AM
I encourage everyone to submit, or bug some artist they know to submit some designs, right now looks like it'll be between wyeast and me, I think 2 more to choose from would be great

wyeast keep up the good work, it's good to have competing designs so we end up getting what we want. I'm hoping to tackle the calls for the "PAXEast shirt" with my design

Datul

You know who might have the original assets for that shirt? Gotta get some high rez stuff too for my design.

I'm sure that Voodoo is the one that gave me mine in Boston. I'm almost sure he's the one that organized everything.

Edit: Wyeast, make your design the one on the back, I think everyone talking about the PaxEast shirt was referring to having the name/cog on front and a full back design like the one with the Zeppelin you created. Not to actually recreate the design on the back, just the style.

wyeast
07-21-2011, 07:04 PM
Tweaked it a little, took the gamertag off. *shrugs* If we wanted more than those affiliates we'll have to schmooze mightbe into redoing the artwork again. Or is there a font set? :o

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/Wyeast/pax2011/cogshirt-test3.jpg

What does the back of the East shirts look like? I don't mind coming up with multiple concepts. I just feel like I'm flying a little bind. ;)

Also, I may drop the neon effect on the date. I don't like how fuzzy it gets because it's so small.

Psykoboy2

wyeast
07-21-2011, 07:20 PM
Yeah, I was mostly throwing it up there as a concept, reusing the list from a couple of years ago. What affiliates do we put on there?

Also, I'm serious, is there a font I can use, or are we gonna have to beg somebody to put together some assets for us? :D

(edit: Just to see what it's like, I threw out the whole list from the top using a regular font)

I'll admit, I kinda like it wyeast :). Question is, is this meant to be the front or the back? I feel like it comes off as the back of a shirt

wyeast
07-21-2011, 10:05 PM
It's very much steering towards everyone wanting just the name and something simple (i.e. the cog from PAXeast) on the front, so this (or something else) would be the back.

Or would it be the name and a narwhal in the front? Oh yeah, I went there. :D

AniAko
07-22-2011, 01:09 AM
EDIT
I just realized I forgot to include the affiliates, I'll revise and post tomorrow

Ok, finally got some work done on my design. The background color is meant to be the color of the shirt as the vendor has a burgundy like shirt. This would be the back of the shirt. The front will have a graphic and the member's name like the PAXEast shirts, I'll get to them tomorrow at some point.

The variation isn't meant to be the word placing, there's a texture outlining the one in the background, and not in the other. This is the back. I have plans to do the front

Without texture:

No texture. These are neat, by the way. Burgundy is different, but that should make it stick out. Is this definitely the color you'll be going with?

Thanks for getting on this by the way. :)

Yeah I think I might stick with the Burgundy, if I try any other colors that work ill post them, I got the idea from an old cog wallpaper. There's that texture on the back of the shirt too. I didn't quite like it with the name on the front of the shirt, but I liked it on the back, I'm gonna keep playing with it. Glad people are liking it so far

Just asking because I'd liked the grey shirts posted in the pictures above, but burgundy will stick out more... so, again, maybe the way to go. Although you could probably go with grey with black font though too (if you wanted to go that route). Might make for more wear post-PAX.

Either way... I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again this year. That, and did you guys ever hear anything more on the sizes? Is an XL, like, a pretty standard-fitting XL... or should we order a size up?

Ah, how I used to loath that colour. In high school the dominant colour of the school was burgundy and being a British school, the uniform had to match. Burgundy tie and sweater day in, day out for five years.

Regardless, the shirts are looking good so far.

Not digging the typeface for the names.
Also, do we have permission to use the PAX logo? I know Khoo is being more active with protecting the brand, so many of the unofficial PAX events that people on the forums put on can't use the PAX logo. Just want to make sure we don't get in trouble with the powers that be.

Just to be clear, you want the underscore in your name on the shirt?

It's a good point about the PAX logo Rogue. I think events are a tad different since people could mistake them for PAX sponsored or affiliated. We have used the logo in the past... Here's an example http://www.flickr.com/photos/aniako/1254452564/in/set-72157601713786833/ I'm going to get some verification on this.

Heh, the 3d effect isn't as needed on your design since it's flatter and abstract, so I don't know if it's necessary to perspex the affiliates' names. ;) Maybe you could halo them as a ring around the astronauts? :)

I like the style of the username font enough, the trouble is the execution actually makes it a little difficult to make out names (particularly from a distance?). And I get a little embarrassed when people have to lean in and stare at my moobs. :o

I love the idea if the halo. I didn't like the text on the side without the perspective, but then again I didn't like it with, I just wanted to get something out there for critique.

I'm open to the font, I like the idea of something like our PAX East shirts, which had a futuristic feel. If someone can provide a font, I'd be happy to mock it up.

Next update I will remove the texture. I think I liked it originally because it filled in the void since it wasn't too busy. But, if you have suggestions on how to incorporate "some kind of" texture, like it was pulled from a burlap sack or a brick/concrete wall, or like the fabric of the shirt was scuffed away to expose the spacemen, like a scratch off lottery ticket and the CoG was stamped onto it. The latter was the inspiring "kind of" feel I was aiming for.

I updated the 1st post with the sizes of the shirts and current pricing.

Bad news for anyone looking for Talls, the shirts are considered a "different line" and only offer the tall dimensions XLT, 2XLT, & 3XLT. On top of that the color choice goes from something like 60 to 6 and the closest to the burgundy is a hot red (black, gray, white, and ugly blue, being some of the others).

If anyone needs to update their size, feel free to drop me a PM or re-post a new size. I'll be confirming all sizes before they're ordered. I'm going to see if the vendor can print me up a prototype and take some snap shots (once we get the names and font thing sorted)

Ah, I see what you're going for now. Two things could help you achieve that:

1. The texture itself is repeating a lot- if you back away from the image it repeats in an almost "moire" pattern, or like a big Quake level where there is too much of one type of texture on a wall. So maybe find a texture that is larger, so that it repeats less. Or I could try to create a custom texture that fills the entire space and doesn't repeat.

2. The scratch-off effect might look better if its outline was less geometric- I see a lot of angles so right now it looks like a paper cutout. You could do a search for scratch-off images and base something on that, or again, create a custom image.

But, I do think the image works on its own without the burlap sack/scratch-off effect, because the shirt itself will add texture and grain to the printed image. It's up to you, I will be glad to help if ya want.

Order placed....and fuck! Forgot the instructions. Look...I did your fucking wedding. Please remember that the guy who did your fucking wedding would like 2 big ass (i.e. 5x) shirts please with "Psykoboy2" on the front. Or "Reverend". Or "The Guy Who Did Your Fucking Wedding". I'm good with either.

Are those lengths legit? I'm looking at them and the Large seems really short. Isn't the standard length for an adult shirt around 29.5" ? I'm thinking you switched out the sleeve length and actual length.

I don't remember giving anyone permission to use my "C" cog design for a t-shirt. I HEREBY DEMAND AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF MONEY IN EXCHANGE FOR ITS USE. Because that's the American way.

$100,000 should do nicely. I'll PM you my PayPal details. :D

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news everyone, but here's the current situation:

There were issues with the vendor we were trying to work through and there currently aren't any shirts. HOWEVER, we're attempting a last ditch attempt to get the shirts done by another vendor and sent to Seattle. If that doesn't work out though, I still have the design files and we can have them printed up after the show and work out something to help cover shipping costs.

Coop, send me the files. I have a guy who owns a print shop. Let me know the price you were getting and I'll try to beat it. And you might have to paypal me. You got my contact info... let's get these shirts man.

Ok, I'll send you the files. JUST BE KNOWN, Violent (as in Javier) is working to try to get these made up for us as well, so let's just stay coordinated in our efforts, so we don't end up with two orders.

Also working a backup plan with the badgers in case the shirts fall through...

Ideas? (Sorry, I didn't have the Forza-esque font for the affiliates on the back...)

You probably got my email, but I wanted the guys to know I couldn't make it happen. Short notice and certain limitations of old-school screen printers made it impossible to do in time for PAX.

I feel slightly weird that it doesn't actually say "Colony of Gamers" or "PAX" on it, but people seemed to lean towards minimalist design, eh? ;) Will check at the usual shop tomorrow to see if they can run them overnight. :o

I actually think it should say "Colony of Gamers" somewhere come to think of it, if only tucked away in a corner, the PAX not so much.

Dammit! >_<

The trick is your supah awesome Cx logo makes it feel redundant when I used the "Colony of Gamers" with the cog off the shirt. Maybe if I went back to the original style? *fires up the editor once more*

Bone
08-23-2011, 08:09 AM
I think right under the Cx you could fit the Colony of Gamers in one line... you might have to scoot the spacemen down just enough that they're planting the flag in the nametags, which might still look cool too. Good work man!

wyeast
08-23-2011, 08:20 AM
D'oh! I just did the opposite (above instead of below) - if you think it'll look better below, I can move it tho'. :o

Hey! It's me! :)

Yeah, proportionally for that font, a gamertag approximately that length seemed to fit best, so it became the baseline. Those that are too long I had to squish in to fit, rather than base it off the longest (like I usually do) - that made everyone else's name seem tiny by comparison because the font is so wide. :o

AniAko
08-23-2011, 08:52 AM
yeah, that looks better, I wouldn't think the style from the back of the shirt will work well on that badge

I think the feeling was since the shirts had names, it would be redundant to have badges with names. But since the whole shirt deal is up in the air, it's badges for sure, shirts maybe
