Some of us old timers remember a time before the Satanity of Elmo when Sesame Street was fucking pure, bitches! Yeah! :D

Yeah, I never liked Elmo. To me he never really had any character, unlike say Bert or Big bird, or Tellie. All elmo had was a voice and an annoying habit of talking in the 3rd person.

For some reason I had Sesame Street on in the background the other day and heard what sounded like some dude impersonating the Count. They jacked his voice up something fierce. Sad.

I still sing that song every now and then to this day. :) My son loves it, too. *sniff* so proud!

The menomenop song is the best thing Sesame Street ever did. I still find it catchy and cool as an adult.

Also, Bert and Ernie are fucking metal.

Edit:

Here's a better version of the menomenop song.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the great episodes were created when Henson himself was more actively involved with the show.

Speaking of Henson, I wonder if you can get all the episodes of The Storyteller on DVD yet?

Did you guys know that the Menomenop song is originally from a Dutch porno? I'll try to dig it up, but I probably shouldn't post it anyway.

Instead, here's some Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem.

I think so. I had a DVD a while back with quite a few episodes on it but I don't know if it was all of them. I got it through Columbia House so I'm sure if you hit up Amazon you'll find it.

This is the best thread ever!!!

You're welcome. Please send donations to my paypal. :D

Hell yeah, Gunny!!

I actually converted that into an MP3 and have been rockin' it as my ringtone for quite a while now. There are some seriously tight solos in that track :)

I'd love to know what band it was..

The pinball song has been stuck in my head for the last 20 years.

My final words on my dying bed will be "11...12...do dee do do do....." *flatline*

EDIT: Sonofa...the second vid in the OP wouldn't open for me last time, now it works and I can see that I've been thoroughly beaten. Vid removed

I know, but it is a better version of the song. Jim Henson did it, so it's technically on topic(shush, my logic is rock solid!).

However ya pronounce the songs name it kicks ass either way.

I know a lot of you are posting puppet-based Sesame Street clips, but to truly understand how fucking awesome the show was in the 70s, you need look no further than:

Or maybe hear Stevie's rendition of a Sesame Street theme?

EDIT: That second YouTube seems to be having issues. You can view the Sesame Street song performed by Stevie Wonder here. (http://www.truveo.com/Stevie-Wonder-123-Sesame/id/3978822748)

I've always been glad that I was able to enjoy sesame street before it began to get seriously lame. Even when I was young they were already starting in on talking about recycling and health and all that progressive bullshit they do now. At least cookie monster was still fucking hooked on cookies.
